For the sake of convenience I made a super light weight plugin wrapped in a class that may enable you to use the Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type plugin along with the plugin I made to get rid of the profile links. Give it a try and give some feedback if this resolves the conflict! Get the plugin here:

It’s funny, but the plugin used to creat the custom fields Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type 1.5.5.5 is what is causing the links to appear. I’m very confused as to what to do. I disabled all plugins and the current theme, and the links didn’t appear, however, as soon as I re-enabled the Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type 1.5.5.5, then the links appear.

What should I do now please 🙁

I am using WordPress Multisite with Buddypress installed. I use the buddypress default template. I got to problems, I hope you can help me solve.

1. My buttons overlay each other. Are there some codes to make the space between them further away. I have a screen shot, but dont know where I can upload it here. But it is the to buttons “Follow” and “Friendship” You can see it, when you are searching for a member in the search bar. You can try it at my website meework.com. But you need to make a profile to do it.

2. Is there some way you can display whitch users who has “Favorite” your post. Right now I cant see who has favorited my comments. Is there some codes to do that.

so im pretty new to buddypress and wordpress… so is anyone willing to explain to me how profile k pics work/are handled? there isn’t an option currently in my “signup” fields. also, i want to embed profile pic/info in one of my sidebars… kinda facebookish.. is this possible as well? any help would be great!

Thanks alot for the info, you are really a megainfo. Thanks once again! But do you have any Idea on what I can do to fix things with the username. I want the user to also use their username for the login. Thanks alot for your help. I am delightfully. Thank you.

@Hugo, I am very sorry if I seem silly but I couldn’t help matters myself. Imagine a situation where you have people who loves your work, only to create an account, activate it and to login to see what you have created and they are bounced back. I am really sorry if I had offended anybody. Now this is what actually happens, when a user creates and activates an account, and he tries to login, the user will be redirected to wordpress login. There is no errors shown, meaning the username and the password is correct. There is no spaces used. And you are right, the user gets logged in after sometime. I hope I am making sense here? Please help me.

That theme is twentytweleve and is rendering quite normally so not sure what the issue is.

I can’t edit my profile page because it tells me “page not found”
The odd thing is my members can edit their profiles, just not me.

Was using buddyboss theme and tried changing to buddypress default theme.
Permalinks are set to Post name.
Deactivated all pluggins except buddypress.
Extended profiles is checked.

What could be wrong?

Since BP 1.7,B BuddyPress can display its content within the context of any WordPress theme !! so you can use any wordpress theme. Else, you can youse child theme for bp.

Hi everybody, thank you for this great plugin.

I begin with my platform datas:
– wordpress 3.5.1
– buddypress 1.7.1
– bbpress 2.3.1

I’ve made the transition from buddypress group forums to bbpress following your guide.
All seems to work fine, but there’s a big issue that i can’t deal with!

When a user tries to invite some other user to his group the invited users don’t receive any notification, not via mail nor on their status bar!
The problem exists on public, private and hidden group forums.
Some solution?

Other issue: Even if a forum is private or hidden (using buddypress administration) users that are not subscribed to the group can see the topic title here:

Discussions

If group is private they are redirect to the page where they can request to enter in the group.
If the group is hidden they get a 404 error page.

I don’t know how to deal with bbpress forums options, if I made a group forum “hidden” using bbpress settings group vanish from topic index, also for users that are subcribed to the hidden group, except for moderators and keymaster.

Ah, and another big big mistake when a users try to change group settings of his group (private, hidden, public) forum option is deselected and forum group vanish, until you select again the forum group!

Hey guys,

I am using WordPress 3.5.1 and Buddypress 1.7.1 and I got the following problem:

Everywhere on the site, where someone can chose a point out of a dropdown, to sort the activity (for example), nothing happens – the site just won’t reload.

Does anyone knows the problem and can help?

@hnla, The theme is just a normal WordPress template, it is not designed for BuddyPress.

BuddyPress seems to work just fine but the layout and formatting (i.e. sidebars over lapping with buddypress user registration) is giving me issues. For example, try going to http://www.eatyourtown.com/community/register/ , you can see that what should be a right side bar has been stretched across the entire page.

It’s much more powerful than the BuddyPress profile system.

I seriously doubt that – the user account / profile is one of BP’s big strengths

Don’t really see any virtue in ‘?viewuser=2’

Regardless you request is going to be next to impossible BP has very specific and complex methods for constructing and managing url structures, even if this were possible you would need to have quite advanced skills and knowledge of WP & BP api.

Anyone know of any good buddypress themes, paid or free ?

I looked at this list http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2013/04/buddypress-themes.html

but what kind of forums are they using, I tested all the themes there and the forums don’t look much like bbpress. Is that a custom bbpress skin they are using too and does that come along with the buddypress theme if you buy that ?

Anyone knows ?

Cannot login or takes a while before the login is resolved, you appear to be contradicting yourself, saying ‘Cant login’ then later that you did after a wait.

You need to detail the process as clearly as possible, any errors that you might see etc, what type of usernames have they spaces in them which buddypress has converted into a hyphen?

Please wait a while for responses before you bump posts 1 hour is far too quick, 24 hours is generally the rule here and it’s the weekend so things are going to be slower.

Why won’t the theme work with BP’s theme compatibility, most themes do not support BP by default which was why theme compatibility was introduced. How does your theme look when you don’t run template pack i.e not bp folders in theme directory so BP knows to fall back to theme compatibility?

Hey,

I am starting a website (www.eatyourtown.com) and I am using a theme that is not supported for BuddyPress by default. I have downloaded and activated the BuddyPress Template Pack plugin. I have completed the steps and it appears that BuddyPress is working fine on my site. However, I am having formatting issues like the plugin suggested.

I have followed the “walk through” example on buddypress.org about how to complete it but I still am having issues. I am not very tech-savy when it comes to HTML etc.

Is there anyone who is able to help guide me through this process? I just cant seem to get the BuddyPress pages to format (align) correctly.

I’m running buddypress 1.7 and i’ve got three groups: group1,group2,group3.

The RSS links associated to the RSS button an the group’s activity pages are:
http://sitename/castrum/groups/group1/feed
http://sitename/castrum/groups/group2/feed
http://sitename/castrum/groups/group3/feed
when I click on the first and the second i got the mozilla’s box that asks me to create a live bookmark, the las one tries to redirect me to a page. It seems like the links does not correspond to a RSS feed.
During the tests I executed few days before that link worked. after including all the members of my site in that group I realized it doesn’t work anymore! What happened?

ps: The site is protected by the membership plugin, I tried to link the feed with the administrator’s account but… no way

does anyone can help me?

All right now, I’ve found the trash which was rather easy. Sorry about asking. (It’s on the pages site itsself for those who Need to know.)
I then deleted all the Register pages in the trash to create a new one. However now, when I click on “register” (frontend), I am forwarded to a site that can be seen here:
