ParticipantI had the same problem and so i deleted everything, did a fresh install and started over. When I was installing BuddyPress when it asks about the permalinks I chose the second one and continued and it now works EXCEPT for the EDIT PROFILE page, it is doing a 404 error. I noticed the link is removed the %20 in between the words for instance.
/members/CJ%20Gaul/profile/ is the profile link then when I click edit it goes to
/members/CJGaul/profile/edit/group/1
Not sure how to resolve this.
I’ve tried redoing permalinks etc. (I am using a multi-site setup.)

MemberHey thanks @DJPaul , I am editing register.php already.
But I want my own register process with multiple steps. I have already looked at bp_get_current_signup_step() and $bp->signup->step to change the steps, but I wanted to make it into a four step process. First users put in their full name username, email and password. Then they put in profile details and then the next step is to recommend followers/friends for the new user to connect with. Then upload avatar. I wanted to use as much Budypress built in code for this as possible like verify username and email address and if need be present errors so I was looking for the bp-core-signup.php file as to edit to allow this to happen. Would you recommend a better way about doing this then?

@mercime
ParticipantHave you gone through basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?

KeymasterThe first part is to be expected, because BuddyPress requires permalinks to be set to something custom. When you do, do you get any problems with normal Page permalinks redirecting? What’s in your .htaccess?

ParticipantGo to Network Admin dashboard panel menu > Plugins > Installed and activate BuddyPress plugin.
Btw, if you’re activating this on live site, remember to backup database and server files first.

MemberBut buddypress plugin is disabled, and I need to, first, enable it. I do not see it in the plugin list to enable it.

MemberHopefully @r-a-y looks at this. I don’t mind coding my own solution, just that I am not sure where the smartest place to hook into is.
I can see parse_oembed is only called from bp-core-classes.php in the shortcode function and this is what confuses me…

Participant== However, after multisite installation I cannot see buddypress in my plugin list to re-enable it!! ==
The BuddyPress menu would be in the Netork Admin panel dashboard menus

MemberI’ve already enabled group forums. I tried it again, and it still didn’t work.
I continued to receive the “Please pick the group forum where you would like to post this topic.” or “This group does not have a forum” messages even after enabling group forums.
Thank you for your suggestion though.

KeymasterI don’t think so. @r-a-y may know if it’s do-able.

MemberHi, just thought I’d add my thoughts here.
I tried setting up a test install in a sub-directory (example.com/sub) and navigating to example.com/sub/members redirected me to example.com/members so I was kinda struggling even to test this.
I’m sure there’s actually a logical reason why that redirect happens that I’m just not seeing. Of course, I realised that in Georules case the install is in a lower directory.
So I just created example.com/sub/sub2 and I couldn’t replicate the issue…. Kinda unsure where to go from here. Don’t do an awful lot with BP if I’m honest so at the mercy of BuddyPress brains.
Thanks!

MemberI hate to bump-post for attention, but I have also been posting at the WP MUDEV forums for some help with this. http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/dead-links-when-searching-replying-anything-loaded-by-ajax?replies=9#post-170134
Phil, who has been helping me debug some, believes this *may* be a bug with BuddyPress being installed in subdirectories. I unfortunately cannot install WP/BP at the root of this server I am working on, but I decided to post this update in case it gives anyone here any more ideas.
Thank you in advance for any leads or help you can provide.

Participant@artfusion: I upgraded from 1.5.1 to 1.5.3 and ran into similar trouble. Allegedly (and were provided the error log entry for each), the culprit were two plugins: BP-Testimonials and Buddypress Stalker. My hosting provider had to remove both from the plugin folder to bring my site back up. Hope that helps.
