ModeratorYou have something installed that is messing with the CSS. I activated this theme on my dev site http://dev.buddiphone.com.
I’m not getting the same issue. The widget theme is using the CSS and header from bp-default so it can’t be this theme causing the issue.

December 19, 2011 at 6:32 pm #126621In reply to: Fatal Error: bp_dtheme_content_nav()
bollocks187
MemberOkay for those of you that encounter the error.
1) Install WP multisite, Install BuddyPress and use enable site wide bp_default theme.
2) Make sure you create a menu in the WP menu system.
If you do not have a WordPress registered ‘menu’ then the system don’t work and you cause a PHP exception. This should be easy developer fix in the Buddypress code with a protective statement or catch all in bp_dtheme_content_nav.
Thanks for your help.

ParticipantHELLO!
I need help regarding my New BuddyPress Installation. I’ve been trying to post a topic to address the same at BuddyPress.org Support forum.
Clicking to “post new topic” on support tab redirects me to community tab where all I can do is reading others’ posts.
Kindly help me know how can I request help regarding my BuddyPress site.
Thank you.

@mercime
ParticipantThe BP Template Pack plugin makes your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress. Looks like you still need to go through Step 3 of the BP compatibility process. Check out links to walkthroughs at the bottom of this page https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
== I’m not able to remove the old BP template pack files through FTP or on the server side ==
This is a strange and serious issue which you need to take care of. First time I’ve heard it happen on dedicated server.December 18, 2011 at 11:05 pm #126594In reply to: Missing Pages?

MemberIt has been upgraded though.
I saw something about buddypress not working if I have it installed in a directory (which is quite dumb if you ask me) could this be the problem?

ParticipantYes. We’re moving to full integration with WP Toolbar nee adminbar in BP 1.6 if not earlier.
In fact, BP buddybar and WP adminbar are fully integrated in BP Trunk already https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk

== Says it’s already installed. Is there another solution I’m missing? ==
Go to Settings > Forums and check the Archives Base, if you have group forums running change the slug from “forums” to something else e.g. sitewide-forums or discussions@zaphod_b are you trying to install sitewide forums?
December 18, 2011 at 9:29 pm #126584In reply to: where is bp-themes?
@mercime
Participant== it gets stuck at the step where it says that I have to manually upload to …/bp-themes. ==
This means that for some reason, you server prevented the automatic transfer of the required BP folders into the folder of your activated WP theme.1. Download a copy of BuddyPress to your computer hard drive – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress/
2. Unzip, and upload the following folders from the BuddyPress folder to your server’s wp-content/themes/name-of-your-WP-theme via FTP/cpanel/FileManager:
– activity
– blogs (if you’re on multisite)
– forums
– groups
– members
– registration3. Proceed with Step 3 of the BP Compatibility Process

ParticipantI suspect the theme you purchased might not have been upgraded for WP 3.3 and BuddyPress 1.5.2 and those are issues you have to bring to the theme author. /they should provide free support for their premium themes.

ParticipantI recall this problem popping up a lot when having the stand-alone version of bbpress working with WordPress which was always a pain. Maybe this is the same problem?
Always fixed the problem by fixing the permissions between bbpress and wordpress.

MemberI got this problem too. I did a fresh install of WordPress MU today, installed Buddypress and then tried to enable forums. No go. Tried a lot of things, nothing works. Also tried with bbpress, no go.
I really hope this gets fixed really really soon! This is a very serious bug.

ModeratorWordPress as well as BuddyPress has little hooks that when certain actions are accomplished it will run a function. So BuddyPress as hooked in the the post hook and posts an activity update about that blog post. You probably could do the opposite but the activity update is missing some content a post would require, like the title as the activity update is just content.
Another issue would be to separate out what is considered a blog post and what is not on posting. I personally would not go this route because of user confusion. Look into using a separate post form for front end blog posting. There are many topics here about adding a front end blog posting form.

MemberI finally found an answer which I shall tell you about in case anybody else is trying to do the same.
I changed the theme to “Suffusion” http://aquoid.com/news/themes/suffusion/
installed the suffusion buddypress pack. When you go to activate BP use the option “don’t change my theme”
and Viola we have buddypress working with the WP register and login.December 18, 2011 at 2:21 pm #126572In reply to: Buddypress dot org’s own forums not working

MemberI also have a VERY similar issue. I’m WP 3.3 BP 1.52.
I’ve renamed my old plugin folder, created a new plugin folder, installed BP and then went to activate Forums for Groups and I’m also getting the..
Error Message : “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”….
Any idea?
