    you could be over your memory limits i believe both woo commerce and buddypress are relatively memory hungry running both on a shared server or vps without much memory allocated probably wouldn’t get very far. just my thoughts.

    hi @boiy

    you have to code this yourself or hire a dev to do it for you.

    maybe this plugin can inspire you https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/word-linker/

    or this older one https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-topic-tags/

    I took a look at another template I worked on and the page.php actaully had code in it to build the page. This code looks like it builds the name of the template and then gets the template and renders it. Could that be bypassing buddypress code?

    i am developin this web application and buddypress framework seems to go about it reasonably well, now i want sumone to help me out with sum codes or some form of plugin that can notify users when a group or some specific words i assign to it are menthioned

    for example… i create some groups say {yahoo, google, buddypress, facebook}

    i want a situation whr, when sumone in facebook group mentions yahoo or anything close to yahoo or google or buddypress, i want members of those group to be notified and can be sent back to thr groups via email or anything

    will aprreciate your replies

    That’s the way to approach it then you know exactly at what point and at what function things went awry at, makes it easier to focus on the reason.

    Yes, I think that is possible. My solution is to try to get back to my original layout step by step and check after every change whether it causes the problem.

    Glad to hear it. It may be the case however that as you start to customize those layouts that things go awry as the themes proprietary approaches to building pages from the backend kicks in but overall it didn’t look too bad on simple activation.

    Hugo. I deleted the entire Constructor Theme folder using FTP and then reinstalled the constructor theme. Presto, bingo! It worked flawlessly with 1.7! Woohoo! You have no idea how excited I am about that! So, a huge thanks for your help!

    Hugo.
    Thanks very much for that follow-up information.
    I don’t know what I should do about that. Should I just delete everything and start again?

    BuddyDroid 0.9 is now uploaded; it should allow you to access the feed from within Private Buddypress. Also, please update the WP plugin to the latest version on github:

    Having looked further at this theme framework on a local test install and it appears to work pretty well in it’s default out of the box implementation with BP 1.7  so I’m afraid whatever custom settings / layout configurations you have set in the frameworks backend are causing issues.

    hey folks

    i have tried installing woo-commerce along side with BP (a brand new installation – latest versions of everything) and it just doesnt work.

    so i’m looking for something that can be installed along with BP.
    I have seen something called woocommerce-for-buddypress but not sure how old that is, or how well maintained. also MikMag, but that doesnt seem to be well maintained.

    the ecommerce side doesnt have to be integrated with the BP members (ie, i dont need to track what items have been bought by members) – i just need the ability for the 2 to work within the same template/environment…

    Recommendations welcome!
    thanks!

    Hello, I am interested in this option too, I want to give the user role to author when we makes new blog(site), and I saw your code above. But where shall I put this code? In buddypress files? But where?
    thank you

    hi guys

    last night i started setting up a fresh WP installation with the newest version of BP. all good.
    i then installed (via WP) woocommerce and after installation (i guess during activation) it just stalled. admin would not respond at all. no errors, just complete blank page, for every page i tried, except for one time i got a 500 error with no detail.

    i eventually deleted the plugin folder and it went back to work without woocommerce.

    if anyone has any suggestions here, i’d be happy to hear.i also want to install another couple of plugins, like Learn Dash – wondering how all theses templates are going to work with each other….

    Thanks!

    Hi – I’m using wordpress 3.5.1 With buddyPress 1.7 beta – am also using BuddyBlog V1 and BP Simple Front End Post V1.1.2 The site is http://savingpitbulls.com

    Everything appears to be working to a degree but after a member registers and tryies to make a post any images they upload – upload to the WP media library but do not embed in the actual post and at this point I can’t see how they would upload a video into the post. This is a requirement of the site.

    Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Alan

    well it’s an interesting post but it is contrary to my own personal experience with WP Engine i signed up right about the time he gave up. I would note the fact that he states that the CEO issued personal apology and reimbursement for the migration issue, thats seems like at least they took the issue seriously at some point. Also way he closes the post “Where I am today Back at Linode, back to running it myself.” This is exactly the reason it makes sense for people along a spectrum of technical expertise not just novices. Granted the WP managed hosts are not without their drawbacks and even WPE has some quirks that take a little getting used to.

    WP Engine is the only company that provides both phone support and specialized wp hosting as far i know. The entire system is built from the ground up only to host WP sites. I cannot tell you how valuable it is when you call into support and you don’t have to explain how wordpress works or what buddypress is every time you are trying to get to the bottom of something. It is also the only hosting company i know that Automattic is financially involved in, to me that means something, i suspect it also means something to WPE.

    In my experience the notion of a perfect host is a canard, what may be a great host today could be horrendous two years from now, but WPE aside from any deal killing kind of quirks is the best platform you could be hosted on aside from wordpress vip unless you truly can afford to do everything yourself.

    @bphelp Yes the current structure is /mytheme/css/buddypress.css.

    Any other ideas? I’d really like to get this working.

    There is also bp_is_activity_component()

    here’s the code for bp_is_page. You can use

    if ( !bp_is_user() && bp_is_current_component( ‘activity’) )

    `function bp_is_page( $page = '' ) {

           if ( !bp_is_user() && bp_is_current_component( $page )  )
               return true;

           if ( 'home' == $page )
               return is_front_page();

           return false;
       }`

    Hi all,
    I have a Buddypress/WP site for a decidedly untechnical crowd, and I need a simple way people can choose to get notified about all new forum topics and all new blogs (it is not a high traffic site). This is not an RSS using group.

    The site has a single forum through bbpress and I am not sure, but I think the Buddypress management of the forum is not in place (I have no mysql tables specific to bbpress).

    I have a mailing list for newsletter purposes but what I am looking for is more of new content notification.

    Are there any suggestions to do one or both of these functions?

    Thank you!

    yeah idk but i do know that it’s meant for the primary site none of the buddypress stuff would do anything on the sub-sbites anyway.
