ParticipantI’m with @dosch – setting it up on an IIS7 Server with WordPress 3.2.1 network (subdirectories) and I assume it will only work on the root blog, since when I tied in the functions to pages it kept taking me to that blog to create the pages. But I only see the Buddypress menu (not at the top, but at the bottom now) when I’m logged in as the network admin.

Member…okay, yep, somehow Buddypress itself got deactivated.
Wow, I’m a special snowflake this morning.
Thanks for the wake-up, @boonebgorges. I needed that. And a cup of coffee, apparently.

Keymasterbp-default should not be in wp-content/themes. It is loaded directly from wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes.
It sounds like BuddyPress is not fully loading. Check a few things:
– Make sure it’s activated
– Make sure it’s not waiting for you to walk through an upgrade wizard. Try clicking on the BuddyPress menu item on the Dashboard or on Dashboard > Network Admin (multisite)October 14, 2011 at 2:50 pm #122796In reply to: Themes broken after 1.5.1 upgrade

Member@boonebgorges: Yep, that’s what I mean. I keep getting WP errors when I try to activate a child theme.
The upgrade apparently removed bp-default from my Themes folder somehow; I went and copied it back in, and activated it just now. I’m still getting errors – calls to undefined functions. So far, I’ve gotten a call to undefined function on line 13 and one on line 27, as copied above.

KeymasterUm, did you deactivate BuddyPress itself? Sounds like it’s not being loaded correctly.

MemberOkay, so I copied the bp-default theme out of its folder in Plugins and into my Themes directory. Tried activating Frisco again, and got this:

Boone Gorges
KeymasterThat *is* how it’s supposed to work. When you upgrade a WordPress plugin like BuddyPress, everything in the plugin folder is deleted and overwritten by the new content.
Language files should be stored in wp-content/languages (if you don’t have that directory, create it), where they will not be overwritten during upgrades.
October 14, 2011 at 2:20 pm #122804@mercime
Participant@naijaping you cannot use the child theme solution for the Avenue K9 theme because Avenue K9 is already a child theme of bp-default theme. Best to follow up with theme`dev whether he’ll update the theme.

MemberI was using this theme and LOVING it…and then I upgraded to Buddypress 1.5.1 this morning, and I’m told that something’s broken.
Frisco for BuddyPress The parent theme is missing. Please install the “bp-default” parent theme.
But the parent theme appears to still be there; I’m really confused as to what’s going on. Any tips, coming from the creator of a great theme?

@mercime
Participant@echiomega basically,
1. Go to https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags.
e.g. BP 1.2.9 to BP 1.5.1, note Rev# of BP 1.2.9 == 4610.
2. Click on 1.5.1 link.
3. In new page, at the bottom left area click on “View Changes” button.
4. In new page, change From: /tags/1.5.1 to /tags/1.2.9 and change at revision: 5242 to 4610.
5. Click on “View Changes” button.October 14, 2011 at 8:12 am #122295In reply to: 1.5 beta2 – Activity and member pages redirecting
Prasad Nevase
ParticipantHi,
I have setup WordPress MU with BuddyPress across the network. I am facing same issue. My Activity tab is redirecting to home page. Even, when I click on any member’s name it does not take me to his profile and instead redirect me to home page. Any idea why is this happening. I would be very thankful if you guys help me out.
Thanks in advance.

October 14, 2011 at 1:40 am #123150In reply to: [Resolved] Compatibility Issue with Karma Theme
@mercime
Participant1. Open up your karma’s header.php and Save As header-buddypress.php. At the very bottom of header-buddypress.php, insert this code:
`
<?php
//retrieve value for sub-nav checkbox
global $post;
$post_id = $post->ID;
$meta_value = get_post_meta($post_id,’truethemes_page_checkbox’,true);
if(empty($meta_value)){
get_template_part(‘theme-template-part-subnav-horizontal’,’childtheme’);}else{
// do nothing
}
?>`
Save and upload to karma theme folder in server.2. Create a blank new file, sidebar-buddypress.php and paste the following code:
``
Save and upload to theme folder in serverNote: If the above doesn’t work, contact Karma theme dev to give you HTML for full width you need to add before content area in header-buddypress.php I’m not sure whether the theme’s proprietary codes/hooks would work in this scenario since I don’t know what the hooks are and what they actually do since I don’t have a copy of that premium theme. You could point the Karma dev to this post for reference.

ParticipantLooks like you used the first method (changing 14+ BP template files) for Step 3 of BP Template Pack compatibility process and missed a few template files. The instruction has been updated on which files to change from 10 files to 14 or so files listed here https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#tplfiles
Better yet, you might want to consider the second method for Step 3 of compatibility process. Examples of second method:

ParticipantYour theme’s index.php is full-width and the page.php has hardcoded sidebar, a two-column layout. Which one were you trying to use for your BuddyPress pages?
