Hello, I have a BuddyPress community & I am having issues with spam at the moment during the registration process. I have tried every plug-in that I am able to work myself, are there any other plug-in’s or ideas that anyone could give me? Thanks!

@karmatosed Thank you. I’ve tried going through some of the issues you’ve mentioned. Thing is I am new to wordpress/buddpress and not much experienced in JQuery either. If you could please elaborate a little bit on the scripting errors I would be grateful .

Is it possible to change the default order of the dropdown options for the ‘post in’ choices from the default ‘activity’ page?

I’d like groups that people are a member of to be shown ahead of the ‘Post in My Profile’ default.

I’m guessing that this is handled in buddypress/bp-activity/bp-activity-actions.php, lines 204 – 281 but I’m not 100% sure if this is the case, or how to go about changing this option…

I’d be really grateful if anyone has any thoughts or can help out at all.

On the site, everyone is a member of a group by default and folks are advised to put posts into groups but often people end up putting the post into their profile, as opposed to the group, so getting this sorted would be great…

BuddyPress doesn’t have much to do with this. WordPress requires users to be the ‘administrator’ role to delete user accounts. You could change this with a role changing plugin, by giving the appropriate capabilities directly.

Posting on the front page is a theme issue more than anything (assuming you’re talking about blog post).

On a BuddyPress site, how do I give certain users the ablility to suspend and delete accounts? And post on the front page? Changing the role to Administrator is to much access and everything else is no users access.

Thanks @mercime I noticed that the activity stream shows up once you change your name/user name but not retroactively. That is the activity of the user before that change does not show up.

May I ask if this weird requirement (that the user name and name be different) is a standard buddypress thing or if buddypress.org customized it somehow?

Paul, if I may offer a suggestion:

Combine buddypress.org and testbp.org

and hopefully that will also resolve the slow loading times that plague buddypress.org (for some strange reason, testbp.org is much snappier)

@shashankism the best person to help you is that plugin’s developer. You could ask the plugin developer to make it compatible with BuddyPress or post at dev’s forums http://betterwp.net/community/

@mahdiar check in Appearance > BP Compatibility and make sure that BP.css and JS are enabled which means that you should not check to disable either CSS or JS

Usually when you can’t favorite something it’s either:

– A template issue (not using correct code to favourite)
– JQuery scripting error – I do see you have a few js errors so it may be those
– Perm link issue (You can reset these by going to settings and saving them).

I didn’t even know http://i18n.trac.BuddyPress.org/ existed. Will talk to JJJ and see if we need it. I believed all the translation to be on GlotPress now.

When browsing here http://i18n.trac.buddypress.org/browser i’m amazed to see that nothing is updated since a long time for 98% of the different languages.

When going here http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/ i’m happy to learn that buddypress 1.2 will be translated one of these… days ?!!!

The Glotpress/buddypress is “a project” who permit only to translate the trunk, without Tagged and Branches archives. It’s not very interresting for endusers and a bit dramatical to use online for translating with security. The browser cache is not the best place to stay for new words dropping into Glotpress.

Needless to say I feel a little lonely with my french updates on the i18n Trac. Unfortunatly i even don’t know if my work (fr_FR) is downloaded and used by someone.

Who use BP in his native language ?
Is BP used outside of english & french speaking countries ?
Where/who are the translators ?

Below you’ll find a bb/wordpress based website I’ve been working on.
I just have an issue that I can’t seem to fix.
Whenever a user favorites a post or such the website redirects to a 404 page not found error page.
Would anyone who is experienced in this field be able to help?

I’m using pastebin because it wouldn’t allow me to paste the code, it kept giving me an error saying “Looks like you’ve already said that”. Any ideas?

I have navigation links on the header of my website (e.g. Main, Register, Login, etc.). When a user accesses the site but is not logged in, there is a “Login” hyperlink in the navigation. This is fine. However, how do I make it so that when the user logs in to his account, the “Login” hyperlink in the navigation is replaced with a “Log out” hyperlink?

FYI – Not sure if this is relevant, but I currently have BuddyPress set up so that dashboard access and the gray admin bar is disabled for all non-admin users.

I’m sure this has been asked before but for the the life of me can’t get it working. I am trying to get the Buddypress avatar of the current logged in user to replace the WP avatar in comments. Every function I’ve tried seems to be undefined or deprecated, I’ve been searching through the bp-core functions but can’t find it (it’s probably right in front of me though)! Anyone know the right way to do this?
