I’m not sure what the taxonomy tables have to do with anything but you can upgrade to 1.0 now. There are many new theme author friendly templates, templatetags that can do what you want alot easier than sql queries.

You are going to get the same answers for this same question you posted here:

The upgrade from RC2 to 1.0 is quite simple.
1. Backup everything.
2. Deactivate BuddyPress.
3. There is a chance that WordPress will not detect version 1 as a new version because of some numbering issues when using RC numbers. If you do not see the update available sign, please delete BuddyPress and re-download it via the plugin browser.
4. Once you have downloaded and reactivated BuddyPress, if you are using the default themes, delete the /wp-content/bp-themes/ directory and copy the new version from /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes to /wp-content/
5. Head back to the admin area, and under the “BuddyPress > General Settings” make sure the “Default Member Theme” is selected to use, and hit the save button, even if it is.
6. You may need to re-activate and select the “home” theme too. This is because theme folder names have changed.
7. Done.
Hello,
I’m not sure this is the right place to ask and I did a search but could not find anithing that can help me.

thanks in advanced guys!!

Hello,
I have deleted all the old files und activate the new plugin.
Everythink works but the Groups /Members pages show this error
You do not have any BuddyPress themes installed.
Please move “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/” to “/wp-content/bp-themes/” and refresh this page. You can download more themes here.
But i have created the folder with the themes.
Remove buddypress and try again. If it doesn’t work it is because wpmu is not configured correctly. If you let is know here if it works with buddypress or not, maybe we can then advise more things to look at.
I’m not logged in at the test site so there should be a FB button. There was when BP RC2 was there but now I assume they have upgraded to v1.0 on the test site and just chose not to add it this time.
I have a ton of FB users on my forum so this is a “must have” for me and not seeing it there makes me worry that perhaps they removed it because it’s not compatible with BP v1.0 or something.

And for all you theme designers out there, remember that Andy recently updated the BuddyPress Skeleton Theme to version 1.0 standards. It is bundled into the 1.0 download package. But, if you need a new copy, you can get it here:

First of all, I would recommend copying the Recent Blog Posts widget and modifying the copy. Otherwise, the next time you upgrade BuddyPress, your changes will be gone. When done, place your new widget in /mu-plugins/. Call it something different so that you can easily recognize it in WPMU’s backend.
Okay, now the code changes:
-
How can I limit the excerpt in the widget
If you look in that widget, you’ll see that the function bp_create_excerpt() is called to create the excerpt. This function is located in bp-core-templatetags.php. The number of characters is determined in the function’s arguments.
Copy that function, place it in your new widgets file, and rename it. Change the number of characters to your desired limit. Then make sure you reference the new function instead
-
Is there anything I can do to exclude the main blog from this widget?
In the widget, the fucntion bp_blogs_get_latest_posts() is called. This function is located in bp-blogs.php. It relies on a method get_latest_posts() located in bp-blogs-classes.php.
Thinking out loud, I suppose you could set up a variable that excludes the Admin blog and pass it as a parameter into the bp_blogs_get_latest_posts(). The other option is to create a custom class and method and rewrite the query to exclude the main blog.
Haven’t tried either. So, I’m not sure the best approach.
Hm strange.
Silly question, but you’re not already logged in are you?
Thanks for the reply. I’m using Ubuntu 9.04/Firefox 3. The FB button is still missing from…

I’ve refreshed, cleared the cache/history, etc.

Hi all,
I just saw the blog-website of the CEO of Automattic and he has a great “threaded forum” at his website.
Could you please let me know if such a “threaded forum” can be realized with BuddyPress or BBPress or what kind of software is he using for this ?
His website is:

Many thanks,
Erich
This is a future concept idea that I came up with a few months ago.
I don’t think it’s a completely new idea.
I have noticed (as have web trend bloggers) that E-mail is on the decline in social circles and social networking messaging (chat, private messages) are taking its place. However, E-mail still has an important function in business.
What if social networking messaging could replace email seamlessly!
So, if you send me an email at lukejanicke@facebook.com, it shows up in my Facebook Inbox. If I send a private message from BuddyPress to my friend at myfriend@gmail.com, then BuddyPress moves the message from the social networking protocol to the SMTP protocol. My friend gets a normal email in their Gmail account from lukejanicke@buddypress.com. If I send an “email” from BuddyPress to Facebook, it is transferred from one social network to another using an E-mail-like protocol. If BuddyPress could do this, it would set the precedent for the evolutionary integration of E-mail into the Web 2.0/3.0 world.
People could forget about traditional E-mail, but those who still use it remain in full communicability with the next generation.
Have I explained the concept?
cyndy, go to the wpmu back end BuddyPress > General Settings and just Save Settings on that page after selecting the bp 1.0 member theme. bp might not be detecting the new member theme location. Upgrading to 1.0 means that the member theme is now located in /wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember
Give that a save there and see if the problem goes away.
Looks like it’s there to me.
What browser, OS, etc?
Well, put it this way, the default buddypress home theme is really just a widget framework accomodating the BP widgets for activity, members, groups, who’s online, welcome etc.
You need to decide where you want to show what and look for themes that fulfill your requirements. There are dozens of mag style themes out there… As long as you have a good range of widget positions in the theme you should be able to put your home page together the way you want to. Besides, it’s easy to create custom widget positions if you need to.
In any case, some php / theming skills may be needed to get stuff exactly how you want it.
Congrats! I have composed a ditty in honor of the occasion: http://wpmu.org/musings-on-the-birth-of-buddypress/
well, private messaging is still not working on the site, so here’s the download link:
http://www.asomatic.net/plugins/wp-jquery-slideshow.zip
I’d appreciate all feedback. You can mail to me or reply on the plugin thread.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your time.
Hi
I was just wondering why the FB-Connect button was missing from the new BuddyPress v1.0 test site. Has it been permanently removed or is it just being worked on?. None of the FB users have AV’s now.
Just curious. Incidentally, the new BP looks fantastic!

Yes. I would highly recommend upgrading to version 1.0. It is considered the first, stable, public release. This means that it can now be used on live, production sites.
There were a few bug fixes and some nice improvements since RC2. You can visit BuddyPress trac and see for yourself! All the changesets after r1407 came after RC2.
Congratulations to Andy and everyone at Buddypress for making such a fine product.
I wanted to know what the difference was between RC-2 and 1.0. Are there significant changes and what would people recommend?
Thanks!
Hi everyone, and congratz to you Andy with versjon 1.0 of Buddypress. I have been watching the Buddypress developement since about November, 2008, and I must say I really do love everything you have created!
Now, I actually have two small questions about the Recent Blog Posts widget witch is showing the latest blogposts all across the network. Number 1 could be easy I guess, but I would like a little “how-to-guide” if anyone of you guys can help me.
1: How can I limit the excerpt in the widget, to only show a sprecified number of charachters,? Note.: Not words, but charachters.?
2: Is there anything I can do to exclude the main blog from this widget?
That’s it! Any help on my 2 small questions would be appriciated.!
