Thanks to Trent, Burtadsit et al for all the great information!
I have installed bbpress and can post topics in Buddypress Groups, and the forums are appearing on bbpress.
My only challenge: the login doesn’t transfer. When I log into BP and click on Forums, I have to log in again.
Ever since BuddyPress moved into plugins/buddypress I am having a bit of trouble getting bp-Events to upgrade the database. It used to be integrated on the BuddyPress menu, and every time the version changes or the database version changes, the upgrade script upgrades the database.
Now bp-events sits in the plugins/buddypress directory but is listed with the regular plugins in WP and has nothing to do with the BuddyPres backend anymore. I am having trouble figuring out HOW and WHEN the version upgrades work now.
Anybody have any insights?
Topic: WP-Forum and BuddyPress
I have decided to use the WP-Forum Plugin as a site-wide forum for the site because I have had zero luck with integrating BBPress.
All is going well, I just need to know how to link to a user’s BuddyPress profile using their ID# and not their BuddyPress username. WP-Forum uses ID#’s when referring to all users, and these ID#s are the same as the BuddyPress users, I just need to know how to hyperlink using only the ID and not the username….make sense?
THANKS!
Topic: This group does not exist
I have integrated buddyPress with bbPress so that my groups can have discussions without leaving the site.
It works perfectly when logged in as an admin. When I create a new user and try to post topics I get this error….
“There was an error posting that topic.”
Any ideas?

OK I am working on a WordPress Mu site and I like some of the features of BuddyPress… like creating profiles, adding friends, etc… However I would like to implement those features without the plug-in basically transforming the whole site, since I still want the blogs to be the center point. Is there a way to keep the BuddyPress profiles but have them as a box on the blog? Or at least just have the blogs be the home page and the profiles linked to from there? If anyone has done this or knows how to do it I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
I’ve installed WPMU, BuddyPress, and BBPress.
The cookie integration is giving me a bit of grief, but I’ll get it
I’m fairly excited about the options this presents my school, we’re making a unifying network for game theorists (hopefully) as part of the department of game studies at UW. Visit our test site at http://www.thompsonjason.orgRunning current versions of WPMU, BP, and BBP as of April 13 2009. (BBPress pre-release, not .9xxx stable)
For the most part, it runs like a top. A few plugins and all’s well. However, I have noticed that my media upload buttons not longer launch in the dashboard / lightbox looking window, but instead open the file upload prompt in a new window. I would consider this a minor bug and mess with it myself, except that once you go through the upload process, and click “insert in post”, it goes to a solid white page, and the post as well as the media are lost.
I’ve disabled all my plugins, both WP and MU Plugins, and the problem persists. If I disable BuddyPress (ie- remove the bp files from mu plugins and change the theme) functionality returns- the media upload buttons now open over the dashboard and image posting works wonderfully.
I’ve re-downloaded and applied BuddyPress hoping I got a bad zip file, sadly that has had no effect.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, help is greatly appreciated as this function is paramount to the nature of our network.
Thank you all for your work
~ Aaron
(again…not within group forums, only as a site wide forum).
