Greetings,
I am really enjoying spending time modifying the CSS of BuddyPress and customizing it to meet my needs. However, I need a little help with modifying some of the php files. I apologize if these questions have been asked before elsewhere. Here are the main things I need to do:
1. Remove the ‘view’ link displayed next to meta data in the Profile Container. This link appears next to the text that is displayed when a comment is written and then displayed in the Profile Container. (The container displaying the user name, avatar, etc at the top of the user homepage) This link goes to a permalink page that displays just the comment. I have removed the ‘view’ link in the activity stream. I would like the comment still to show, just not the view link.
2. I would like to remove the ‘#’ link from forum posts.
I don’t need to heavily modify the code and remove this functionality altogether. I just need to prevent these links from being displayed to the user. I was able to remove the ‘view’ link from the activity stream simply be removing the word ‘view’ from the ‘bp-activity-templatetags.php’ file, but I am unsure of how to remove the others.
I sincerely appreciate any advice anyone can provide and I look forward to sharing my soon-to-be finished BuddyPress template with the BuddyPress community.
Many thanks,
Shane.
I have created a template page and added the buddypress login html form that can be found on sidebar.php. The template page includes some text explaining what the network is about and the login form. I have made the page full width and excluded the sidebar from that page. Everything works well with members being able to login with that form but once they are logged in, that page (I’ve set it as the home page on the dashboard settings) is still visible including the form when they browse to “home”.
Is their anyway that the template page I have created is not visible any more once a member has logged in? In simpler terms, is their a way once a member is logged in through that page that the “home” page is the activity stream?
Hello everybody,
I’am currently trying to hide the @mention function to users of my website. So i’ve put the following code in the “bp-custom.php” file :
function modify_bp_core_hide_mention_item(){
global $bp;
bp_core_remove_subnav_item($bp->bp_nav, $bp->bp_options_nav);
}
add_action(‘bp_activity_setup_nav’,’modify_bp_core_hide_mention_item’,0);It seems to work well, the “mention” navigation menu is hidden.
But i have one problem left. There is still a reference to the mention function on the “notifications settings” page, which asks the user if he wants to have an email sent when someone mention him somewhere with the @mention function.
I’ve found out that this display is made by the function “bp_activity_screen_notification_settings” in the “bp-activity.php” file, which basically just prints a table and then is added to the “bp_notification_settings” hook :
add_action( ‘bp_notification_settings’, ‘bp_activity_screen_notification_settings’, 1 );So my question is : shall I remove this action and write another function which doesnt display the mentions settings ? or is there any better solution ?
Oh, i’ve forgot to say that i’m a new buddypress/wp user

Thank you in advance, any help is welcome.
Topic: How to get specific user id
1) i would like help finding out hw i could get the specific username of a user..
i want it to be that when i am on a profile page of a user with a certain username then it will show something..sort of like an if username==’myname’ then display ‘this’2) i also want it to reflect in the activity stream, with all activity from a specific username or user id, it will also show some text..for example whenever ‘username’ posts an activity update:
username posted an activity update : blah blah blah,
“my custom text i want to show for this username comes below it”could someone help me with a function to do this as i have no idea to go abt it?
