ParticipantBest place to ask is at Networks+ plugin developer’s forums. They do provide support for their premium plugin.

Participant@ollie7695 looks like you’ve fixed the issue. Also, please do not post/provide admin login info in this forum.

Participant@savage_jane & @joe-saad you appear to be posting at many places, WP forums, bbPress forums with the exact same questions and responses yet switching roles, so I guess you are reps for this plugin ‘company’, you should perhaps not use help forums in this manner in order to promote a paid for premium plugin. Naturally if I’m wrong and you are not part of this company my apologies.

Do make sure that your multisite is working as expected before installing BuddyPress. For Mutlsite/Network issues, please post at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisiteNovember 26, 2012 at 3:45 pm #145677In reply to: Forum/FAQ search? Tab hiding?
@mercime
Participant@clemensrettich What raminjan said. Also, check out the BuddyPress Codex pages for documentation like https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/ Then you could also add special BP menus using https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profile-menu/

Participant@webwarriorwng I don’t see what this has to do with this post, please ask the question once only in the appropriate forum or group.
Closing this thread as it was a resolved one.

ParticipantIt’s a problem with the theme, revert to using bp-default theme to check the function does work as expected. Questions regarding third party themes are best asked on the themes support forums.

raminjan
Participantsimple, just go to your dashboard with wordpress and go to menu section then deselect the tabs you don’t need from the menu you have. or if you don’t have any menus you can create your custom menu from there. if you have any future questions let me know at: raminrahim@hotmail.com I am intermediate with wp/bp. we all help each other in this forum.

ParticipantMany thanks Paul. I hadn’t updated the database user/password in bb-config.php. It’s working now.
November 25, 2012 at 3:07 pm #145623Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterDid you move your bb-config.php across? If the database user/password changed, did you update those details in the bb-config.php?
Did the absolute path of the bb-config.php change? If so, you’ll need to go into wp-admin > Settings > BuddyPress > Forums, and “reinstall”.

ParticipantSpammers register on every single forum or community/blog on the net how do envisage stopping them? It’s simply a pandemic that has to be manually dealt with, there can’t be automated / plugin solutions for everything.

ParticipantSo just to be clear we should be ignoring the warning on that screen that says:
‘Using the Forum Root is not recommended. Changing this does not move existing forums.’
November 23, 2012 at 5:59 pm #145549In reply to: General BP+MultiSite Questions
@mercime
ParticipantYes, BP will track activity of members in subsites.
Yes to: comment on main site where commenting is available like in activity streams and blog posts by default plus in customized BP components created by plugin if it is included.
In subsites, commenting on blog posts only if it is not disabled in Settings>Discussion of that subsite.
Forum posts show up in main site’s activity stream. Super admin can disable commenting about that forum post in activity to direct member to comment/reply directly in the forums to keep the forum conversation centralized.

KeymasterCool, thanks JJJ.
I’ve added an article to the codex:
`https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/migrating-from-old-forums-to-bbpress-2/`Anyone, feel free to edit!
November 22, 2012 at 8:56 pm #145524drill_sgt.lewis
ParticipantAnother simpler approach would be to created a bp-custom.php and place it in the plugins directory and add the following code
`<?php
function bp_guest_redirect() {
global $bp;
if ( bp_is_activity_component() || bp_is_groups_component() /*|| bbp_is_single_forum()*/ || bp_is_forums_component() || bp_is_blogs_component() || bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) ) {
// enter the slug or component conditional here
if(!is_user_logged_in()) { // not logged in user
wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/register’ );
} // user will be redirect to any link to want
}
}
add_filter(‘get_header’,’bp_guest_redirect’,1);
?>`
This code will work to hide buddypress pages and group forums as is, if your using sitewide forums in line 4 remove the comments around:
|| bbp_is_single_forum()
Save and refresh. Works in current versions.November 22, 2012 at 7:15 pm #145522In reply to: has anyone converted BP forums to bbpress?

Keymaster* Backup your database (you may need to restore if migration fails)
* Disable BuddyPress’s Forums component
* Tools > Forums > Import
* Choose bbPress1
* Run the converter
* Visit Tools > Forums
* Run all of the repair tools (most likely one at a time)
* Visit Settings > Forums
* Make sure “Enable Group Forums” is checked
* Make sure the BuddyPress root forum is correct
* DoneNovember 22, 2012 at 5:44 pm #145516In reply to: has anyone converted BP forums to bbpress?

ParticipantThanks Paul for quick reply
I tried with forums on, will try with forums turned offNovember 22, 2012 at 5:08 pm #145513In reply to: has anyone converted BP forums to bbpress?
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterIt should be possible with 1.6. You’ll need to remember to turn off the “Forums” component in BuddyPress (wp-admin > Settings > BuddyPress). I am not totally sure of the steps to do the migration; I’ll ask JJJ if this has been documented.
November 22, 2012 at 10:04 am #145493In reply to: how to delete this menu top links
Tammie Lister
ModeratorLinks are added either by a plugin or by hooking into that menu.
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-remove-and-add-items-in-bp_get_displayed_user_nav/ is quite a useful thread on adding to menus.
As for deleting the sidebar, that would need a link to see your theme before saying if something was going to work or not.
November 22, 2012 at 1:20 am #145479Toby Cryns (@themightymo)
ParticipantYou could use jQuery to check the value of the drop-down.
Otherwise, you will need to hook into BuddyPress’ validation hook. Perhaps this link will get you pointed in the right direction:
