ParticipantI managed to solve my problem by:
1. Unchecking the forums component in the BuddyPress Component settings page.
2. Renaming bb-config.php in your WordPress installation root directory to something else (making BuddyPress believe that bbPress is not installed).
3. Re-checking the forums component in the BuddyPress Component settings page.
4. Re-installing the group forum component in the BuddyPress Settings “Forum” tab.Hope this can help someone else as well, was really frustrating not being able to post anything.

ParticipantHi everyone!
I have the same problem and am unable to post any new forum threads in any group forum. I get a different error message saying “There was an error saving your forum thread”. This error started occuring a couple of days ago, worked fine until then. Tried re-installing the group forums component but no luck.

KeymasterAre you trying to delete the group forums because a) you don’t want to use forum functionality on your site, or, b) you want to delete all the forums so it recreates new empty forums for you?

MemberThanks Hugo for your reply,
its not that i can’t create groups or topics.. its that those topics are not showing up in the “forums directory”.
May i ask you to try the following steps on your test install? :
– create a private group
– go to that new group
– go to “forum” in that group
– create a new topic
– go to “forum directory” in that group or just hit “forums” on the top navigation bar
– check if you see the newly created topic there– be sure that you are not using an administrator account
– doing the same with a public group -> no problemApril 17, 2012 at 4:33 pm #133141In reply to: [Resolved] Disable responsive layout

I haven’t tried it but it was suggested in: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/default-theme-menus-on-narrow-screens-or-old-laptops/#post-126618April 17, 2012 at 3:50 pm #133138In reply to: Registration on Homepage

MemberHey VeeBee and karmatosed
Just to update – I made a page template and copied and pasted the contents from register.php into the template file, nothing showed up, then i changed put this on top of the template file:
`<?php
global $bp;
if(empty($bp->signup->step))
$bp->signup->step=’request-details’;
?>`as mentioned here http://buddydev.com/forums/topic/move-registration-to-index-page#post-4235
and the form shows up but the profile field with Name does not, and after inputing data into the fields that do show up and hitting Complete Sign Up just redirects me to the same page.
Here is the page : http://lcfacademy.com/registeree/April 17, 2012 at 7:13 am #133127In reply to: HTML in button fields

Participant@fmeroney you marked this thread as resolved but you’re basically asking the same thing in this topic https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/html-in-button-fields/

Participant@fmeroney – Your example was eaten by the forum software (it happens when you don’t use “backticks“ around your code)
But, i’m guessing this is what your looking for? https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/

ParticipantThere are now four different poster to this thread! Please observe basic and essential forum nettiquette by not posting in others threads as your issues while similar may not be a mirror of the original posters question/issue and multiple responses can’t be maintained within one thread as it’s too confusing.

ParticipantIf you think this is a bug then raise a ticket on the BP trac along with precise steps to replicate the issue, and someone will have a look.
I can create a private group and create topics in it on one of my test installs so I do not think this is a bug.

ParticipantCheck that you have a bb-config file in your root directory and that it has the same details as wp-config for accessing the DB, if you haven’t got one perhaps you actually didn’t set up forums in the BP setup? in which do so if you did then you may need to manually copy over bb-config to your doc root and then go back to a group select ‘admin > settings’ and ensure ‘enable discussion forum’ is checked and save the page.

Participant? ‘left pane’; are you running a custom theme, if so it’s hard for us to help with third party theme on this support forum. You can generally add anything like though to themes in any number of ways; BP default theme has a sidebar thus, as one would expect, in the WP dashboard you can add a text widget to that sidebar column to render content.

MemberThis could be a problem with missing rights in your filesystem.
I guess you are using “group forums” with the shipped bbPress version, right?April 16, 2012 at 9:22 am #133076tdoubleu
MemberHi Relachola,
thank you for your reply. So, if i got you right, you did’t get any response on this.
I can’t believe that noone is using forums in private groups.April 16, 2012 at 1:59 am #133063In reply to: Group –> Forum –> Sub Forum?

MemberInstalled and played around with it. Unfortunately I think it’s a bit cumbersome as a work-around. I’m going to have to go with bbPress for forum functionality. The ability to assign a parent forum is key.

ParticipantAs agreed to above, we will create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make your WP theme compatible with BP
IF you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your fullscreen theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your evolution theme folder in server – activity, blogs, forums, members, groups, register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. Copy header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the bottom of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
`<div class="box-center pgsize2 “><?php
/* Title page */
$queried_object = $wp_query->get_queried_object();
if ( $queried_object->ID == get_option( ‘page_for_posts’ ) ) {
$current_id = get_option( ‘page_for_posts’ );
} else {
$current_id = $wp_query->post->ID;
}
$page_hide_box = get_post_meta( $current_id, ‘page_hide_box’ );
$page_hide_box = trim($page_hide_box);
if($page_hide_box != ‘yes’){
print ‘‘;
}
?><?php
$page_hide_title = get_post_meta( $current_id, ‘page_hide_title’ );
$page_hide_title = trim($page_hide_title);
$page_alternative_title = get_post_meta( $current_id, ‘page_alternative_title’ );
$page_alternative_title = trim($page_alternative_title);
if($page_hide_title != ‘yes’){
echo ‘‘; the_title(); echo ‘
‘;
} else if($page_alternative_title != ”){
echo ‘‘.$page_alternative_title.’
‘;
} else {
echo ‘‘;
}
?>`Save file.

Participant@roguedjinni Based on initial scan, you only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress,
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your smileth theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to yoursmileth theme folder in server – activity, blogs, forums, members, groups, register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. Copy header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the bottom of the file, below other code contained within, add this: [UPDATED]
