Even if you hooked it to the correct place, I doubt that the form save handler would work.

Cross-posting this from the How-To forum since it relates to an addon, but hopefully someone can help.

Basically, I use BP on my site and I have an add-on called liveTV Bundle which allows me to integrate a user’s Twitch.tv or Own3d.tv stream into their profile and have it display as a thumbnail on a different streaming page.

Right now, the addon adds a new section to the default WordPress user profile page where the user can add their stream ID and delete existing streams they’ve attached to their profile. I don’t want people to have to edit two profiles, and I’d like to see if there’s any way to hook those fields into the BP profile edit page or if maybe I can just copy the display code into the BP profile edit page.

This is the code that the plugin currently uses to hook those fields into the default profile. What hooks would I need to have them appear in the BP extended profile edit page? Or is there a better way to do it?

`//Now hook to create extra profil fields`
    `add_action( ‘edit_user_profile’, ‘livetv_show_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil has capabilties to edit -> display`
    `add_action( ‘edit_user_profile_update’, ‘livetv_save_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil has capabilties to edit -> update`

    `add_action( ‘show_user_profile’, ‘livetv_show_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil has capabilties to show -> display`
    `add_action( ‘personal_options_update’, ‘livetv_save_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil is the current and edit -> update`

    `if(!is_admin)`
    `{`
    `//Frontend plugins compatibility`
    `add_action(‘profile_personal_options’, ‘livetv_show_extra_profile_fields’);`
`//When the current on the current profil is the current and show -> display`
    `}`

I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you so much!

Another update: Right below where I found those hooks, I also found the code that actually generates the fields and whatnot. If there is a way for me to directly copy-and-paste that right into the BP profile edit page somehow – or even create fields that can be associated with those liveTV fields – I’ll do that too.

Thank you again for any help!

With Gravity Forms disabled, register a new account with only BP profile fields you created. Then check if you can edit profile with default BP profile fields.

Okay, I think I’ve identified the fields in question and the code in question, but I’m not sure how to implement it. Here’s the section of code from the addon that hooks the new user fields into the WordPress profile:

`//Now hook to create extra profil fields`
    `add_action( ‘edit_user_profile’, ‘livetv_show_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil has capabilties to edit -> display`
    `add_action( ‘edit_user_profile_update’, ‘livetv_save_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil has capabilties to edit -> update`

    `add_action( ‘show_user_profile’, ‘livetv_show_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil has capabilties to show -> display`
    `add_action( ‘personal_options_update’, ‘livetv_save_extra_profile_fields’ ); `
`//When the current on the current profil is the current and edit -> update`

I can see where it hooks the new fields into the default user profile, but how do I update those hooks for BuddyPress? I found some hooks that sounded similar but none would actually add those to the proper spot in the “Edit” page for the extended profile.

    Help please! Thank you!

I’m hoping someone can help me on this.

I’m currently running BP on my site and I just installed a plugin that allows for users to link to their Twitch.tv and Own3d.tv live streams and have them auto-populate a specific page or a specific area of a page with thumbnails and links and indicators if they’re live. The problem is, the only way a user can edit this aspect of their profile is to do so from the wp-admin/profile.php area of the site.

I can’t seem to figure out a simple way to allow a user to make these changes from within their BuddyPress profile instead. I’m willing to edit the PHP if necessary, but if someone could help me with how this could be done, I’d be incredibly grateful!

If it helps, the name of the plugin is liveTV Bundle. It adds 3 fields which users can enter their channel names and one field where they can delete the already saved entries.

Thank you all in advance for any help!

I’m looking for a Buddypress compatible membership application plugin with functionality along the following lines:
    – The user should be presented with an application/registration form, with some mandatory and non-mandatory fields.
    – On completion, the application is submitted to a pending queue.
    – From the pending queue selected user roles should be able to ‘approve’ or ‘reject’ the application.
    – unapproved applicants have no access to the member content

    ‘Nice to have’ extras:
    – ability to select which of the registration fields (if any) should be displayed on the member register
    – ability to e-mail user: (i) confirming application submitted (and add a message regarding typical review times, etc.) (ii) approval/rejection e-mail templates and triggers, (iii) Welcome e-mail
    – application management in the front-end
    – ability to grant unapproved members limited access to membership areas, e.g. possibly to one forum only.

I’m wondering whether something already exists? Be good to hear from anyone with suggestions. Many thanks.

    Hi guys,
I am having a problem! When editing a users profile, I click “save changes” and the page simply reloads and no changes take effect, this also seems to be effected on almost all BuddyPress forms(messaging, etc). I am using Gravity Forms for user registration, so users can still sign up that way. I have also tried on the default BP theme.

    – Here are some of the questions to what you guys would like to know…
    – I am running the Latest version of WordPress and BuddyPress
    – WP is installed in the root
    – I did just recently upgrade both WordPress(3.X.X to latest) and BuddyPress(1.2.9 to 1.5.5)
WordPress was functioning fine before upgrade, the issue was there before the upgrade, which I hoped was going to fix the problem
    – Running BP 1.5.5
    – Upgraded from BP 1.2.9
    – Other plugins installed are: Advanced Custom Fields, AutoChimp, BackupBuddy, BP Blog Author Profile Links, BP Chat, BP Members Avatar Map, BP User Profile Map, BuddyPress, BuddyPress Album, Front-end Editor, Gravity Forms, Gravity Forms + Custom Post Types, Gravity Forms Directory Add-on, Gravity Forms User Registration Add-on, Lightbox Plus, Members, Remove Dashboard Access for Non-Admins, Simple 301 Redirects, The Events Calendar, The Events Calendar Pro, WordPress Database Backup, WordPress SEO, WP-Users Online
WP Hide Dashboard, WP Maintenance Mode
    – I am using a custom theme, though I am getting the same issue on default BP theme.
    – I have not modified WP or BP core
    – bp-custom.php includes only “define(“BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT”,”profile”);”
    – Not running bbPress
    – Do not have access to error log
    – Another agency is providing hosting for our “joint client” and they dont like to give us access to anything, I have FTP access only.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme to begin isolating what’s causing the strange behavior.

I have looked over the forums and found several threads concerning this function but there seem to be no apparent solution to this issue. I would love an answer from somebody who has deeper understanding of buddypress to see if this is possible to accomplish or not.

Is it possible to create multiple different registration forms or different fields to fill in depending on what the user selects when registering?

All help would be much appreciated!

@mercime thanks for helping me… i upgrade WP in each version is out (with a delay of 2 weeks to give time for the plugins i use to be upgraded too), my BP as i remember i upgrade from 1.2.10 to 1.5.2 and then 1.5.5

I had the same register problem. I couldn’t see any group in “Profile Fields”.
I tried to create another one, i was getting a success message but still not able to see any group.
So i checked in the db and I noticed that there was a the column “group_order” missing in the wp9_bp_xprofile_groups table:

    mysql> desc wp9_bp_xprofile_groups
    -> ;
    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +
    | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra |
    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +
    | id | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment |
    | name | varchar(150) | NO | | NULL | |
    | description | mediumtext | NO | | NULL | |
    | can_delete | tinyint(1) | NO | MUL | NULL | |
    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +
4 rows in set (0.01 sec)

I reached that finding because I compared with another buddypress installation I have.

I added the column to the table and then everything was working again:

    mysql> desc wp9_bp_xprofile_groups;
    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +
    | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra |
    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +
    | id | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment |
    | name | varchar(150) | NO | | NULL | |
    | description | mediumtext | NO | | NULL | |
    | can_delete | tinyint(1) | NO | MUL | NULL | |
    | group_order | bigint(20) | NO | | NULL | |
    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +
5 rows in set (0.08 sec)

Here you are how I added the column:
    mysql> alter table wp9_bp_xprofile_groups add column group_order bigint(20);
    mysql> alter table wp9_bp_xprofile_groups modify group_order bigint(20) not null;

The “Base” group was again visible in the administration page and those fields were visible again in the registration page.
I could not find out what modified that table. Also reinstalling the whole buddypress doesn’t help as I noticed that the buddypress tables in the db are not deleted.

    Hope this helps.

What versions of BP/WP did you upgrade from? You mentioned webpages from two years ago. If you upgraded from BP 1+/WPMU, then you have to upgrade major version by major version as in BP1.0+ to BP1.2/WPMU 2.9.1 to BP1.5/WP3.2.1 to BP1.5.5/WP3.3.2
    WP versions download – https://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

    Hi,

    1. WordPress version : 3.3.1
    2. Did you install WordPress as a directory or subdomain install? Directory
    6. Which version of BP are you running? 1.5
    9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes?
I have a child theme based on buddypress default.
    15. Is your server running Windows, or if Linux; Apache, nginx or something else? Linux

    My Question:
Could anyone please let me know how to send a user to a thank you page/other pages(created as a template) from the buddypress registration page. I have added profile fields to the registration page.

I have looked through the bp-member/member-signup.php file but I couldn’t find a function that will send them to another page/thank you page/ confirmation page.

    Thank You,
    Shank

    Hi guys,

I’m getting automatic bot registration in http://onegative.org/register/ where the required profile fields are not filled out by the robots (by default missing required profile field gives an error)
I even have captcha on the registration page, containing a question placed in an image, which is quite difficult for robots to read and answer.

My guess is that the spammers found a back door for automatic registration on BuddyPress.
Shall I report this as a bug, or the issue is already known?

In the Buddypress Settings menu, do you have the “Disable BuddyPress to WordPress profile syncing?” set to “No”?
