In reply to: Menu bar impeding my custom header in BP 1.5.3.1
hiresphereadminMemberlol…….I am a book of questions……but you’re right, this particular issue (I believe) is on the WordPress side, so I’m heading over to the WordPress forums to see if I can bang that one out……..
January 4, 2012 at 7:16 pm #127419In reply to: where is membership directory?
Lesley AustinMemberI am using Suffusion theme and have been all along.
What I am trying to say is that when I used to go to my profile, there would be my avatar, my name, the answers to my profile questions a few tabs for settings, profile, changing avatar, etc. There used to be (unless I have entered the Twilight Zone) a tab there to go to the member directory page…which makes great sense to me. A member clicks over to someone’s profile via, perhaps, the “who’s online” avatar widget in the sidebar, they read that profile then they want to read more profiles, so they click the tab that used to be there to do so.
I can make a menu link, but it just makes more sense for it to be in the profile section, doesn’t it? And wasn’t it there? The only place I’ve found it on these forums is on the forum index.
Does that further understanding at all?

r-a-yKeymasterIt’s important to know what you want to accomplish.
Do you want to install both group forums and sitewide forums or just one of the choices?
Try reading this tutorial:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/If you have any questions after reading it, please post them.
January 3, 2012 at 6:35 am #127275In reply to: HEY! Where did the BP-Media support forum go??
modemlooperModeratorJJJ you’re being too sensitize to the word “sucks”. I mean it sucks for ME.
Yeah I was an admin in my plugin groups but 50% of support was posted in the general forums with now way for me to move or merge or close/resolve. This caused me to answer the same silly questions over and over because a user would go to that plugins forum and not find answer and instead of posting it would get posted in the third party general forums.
My reaction is to Foxly stating that these forums are not so good for a serious support forum. Trolling through a bunch of garbage to get to serious issues is a waste of time that could be spent on development.
Not a problem anymore, I’ve moved support and I’m using bbpress. Guess I’ll quit posting here then.
January 1, 2012 at 1:31 am #127143nitinhemmadyMemberYeah I saw that but I have questions with this. Which file do I put the code the author suggests in? There does not seem to be a mention of that.
Thanks for posting.

Emily-GMember@simmonsstummer you should ask plugin-related questions in their plugin support group
December 24, 2011 at 6:01 pm #126881In reply to: [resolved] Sign Up Email
acesParticipantIf the emails were not picked up by spam or junk mail filters, then your webhosting may need an extra plugin.
See: BuddyPress isn’t sending out emails (eg. activation emails, email notifications) in https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/frequently-asked-questions/#register
and / or: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ (which has a useful debug feature)

mrandrewaustriaMemberThanks for your responses,
I’ve disabled all of the plug-ins and have used the bp-default theme and still have the same problems. I’m going to create a trac ticket I suppose, but preferably I’d like my questions answered here.

pengumeParticipantTearing my hair out at this point. nothing seems to be doing what I expect or what I think should happen. Can anyone not answer any of my questions? It would be so helpful if I could get some explanation on how the AJAX works.
December 17, 2011 at 5:26 pm #126535In reply to: Auto generating blank member profiles
animeshtripathiMemberOkay, thank you. I’ll do that. I have some more questions:
1)I wanted to add an ‘Edit Profile’ button to the profile page for the member who is logged in. How do I go about doing that?
2)Installed BuddyPress Follow, how can I add a follow button to the profile?
3)Why doesn’t the WordPress password nag work for Buddypress? Is there an alternativeDecember 16, 2011 at 1:32 pm #126464In reply to: Do Not Understand BuddyPress
YulionoMemberhi neononcon,
it’s been a month since last reply but may i add my opinion here..
study carefully first about the features of BuddyPress (as well as other social tools) before u really implements it on your working site. yes, there are options to disable forum, if you don’t really want to use it. BuddyPress, forum, twitter, or FaceBook connect are great tools to communicate with site audience. install them all and your site will look perfect, but it can be overwhelming and time consuming to reply all questions here and there. technology evolves way much faster than good documentationsDecember 15, 2011 at 6:07 pm #126370In reply to: Filtering Activity Loop with Meta Values
danbrellisParticipant@abysshorror & @magicroundabout
I almost have it down, but I’m still working on it. I am developing it as a plugin of sorts, though I never planned on releasing it, so it’s not entirely compatible all around. I can send you both what I’ve got so far and I’d love to collaborate with either of you to turn this into a real plugin.Basically, I set up a value for groups to see if the group should be moderated, then if they are moderated all new posts get the meta value of pending. I then filter the activity stream to exclude activities which have that meta value, unless it’s an admin, in which case they get a link to approve it.
All is pretty well, though I’m still struggling with filtering the activity in the most efficient way. You can download what I’m working on here: http://pastebin.com/239ZjLLq. You can also add this to style posts that need to be moderated.
`.activity-list li.pending {
background-color: #FF9;
}
.activity-list li.pending .moderation {
float: right;
}`Remember, it’s a work in progress and may not work out of the box on your install. I’ll answer any questions if I can though. Like I said, I’d really like to collaborate and make this a useful plugin.
December 13, 2011 at 5:30 pm #126203In reply to: Events/groups in Buddypress
sarah.osborneMemberoh, while I’m asking a bunch of questions already, can you have it set so that you need approval before you can be a member of a group?
and pay for/sign up for events?December 10, 2011 at 6:21 pm #126077In reply to: Activity filters
pengumeParticipantarrg!
Is it something I am saying or doing /not doing that makes it so no one wants to respond to any of my questions? If so even a response to this question would be appreciated.

@mercimeParticipantSome of your questions are answered in BP Codex
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/December 8, 2011 at 2:14 am #125808In reply to: EMERGENCY!!! – new avatar images
Boone GorgesKeymasterThe people who answer questions in this forum are volunteers. Please be patient.
Did some aspect of your configuration change? What other plugins are you using? Have you verified that the new avatars are actually being uploaded to wp-content/uploads/avatars/? What happens when you try to visit the URL of one of the images directly?

@mercimeParticipantDecember 6, 2011 at 5:42 pm #125699In reply to: Got problems and questions…
@mercimeParticipant#1 and #2 I suggest you contact Headway theme devs/support as they know their complicated theme inside and out. Although I’m sure they know it by now, you can refer them to the BP Template Pack compatibility process – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
#3 – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/ Though again, something you should bring over to Headway theme devs/support.

OC2PSParticipantI am already registered at testbp.
The concern is that I when I ask questions here, how do I keep track? If some questions are not answered for a few days, how do I find them again upon my visit to these pages, say, in a week?

acesParticipantSee: https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_Screen
This doesn’t appear to have anything to do with buddypress.
Unless you have installed and activated (or plan to activate) the buddypress plugin you should really ask any further questions on http://wordpress.org or maybe http://themekraft.com/forums (as you credit their themes)…
November 28, 2011 at 3:31 pm #125145pcwriterParticipantSee the API/Scripting section, it’s very well documented.
For s2member-specific questions, you’d probably get more pertinent help at their forums:

ryans213MemberWhat is it about Profile Edit questions that get treated like they are the plague around here? I came across a lot of Profile Edit questions while searching for my question that ended exactly like this post is going. Complete silence from all in the forum. Is not talking about editing the Profile the second rule of BuddyPress?
November 19, 2011 at 8:25 pm #124709In reply to: Excluding Roles from the member loop!
4ellaParticipantHello , I have 2 questions :
1. How do you include only subscribers ? It means I would like to have only subscribers directory and ignore other roles.
2. How do you exclude more roles as for example subscribers + editors + moderators ? it means how should look like a code for more than 1 role? -
