    Hello,

    My users and myself are having a problem where we recieve friend request notifications, and can see the number of friend requests notifcations we have but when we go the the “Requests” page there are no friend requests to be found. The only thing there is a message that says, “No friend requests pending”.

    After some investigation I found that going in and manually changing the name of the user in the extended profile will make that specific user show up in friend requests. This is something that used to happen automatically.

    Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks in advance.

    I will try to answer as many of the Mod questions as I can here:

    Wordpress Version: Version 5.2.3

    Recently upgraded from wordpress version: 5.2.2

    Wordpress was functioning fine before I made this install. So was Buddypress

    Current Version of Buddypress: Version 4.4.0

    Updated Buddypress from Version: 4.3.0

    I have many plugins installed.

    Using BuddyBoss theme

    Problem: When using front-end to COMMENT on blog posts, @mention does not auto-suggest in the comment form.

    Auto suggest works on back-end when drafting blog posts.
    If I use BP activity stream page to comment om a blog post, auto-suggest works.

    I tried switching to more generic themes (twenty seventeen, etc) and autosuggest still does not pop up for @mention in the comment form.

    I also tried several variations of this: https://buddydev.com/enabling-buddypress-mention-auto-suggestions-on-any-page/

    Anyone have other ideas?

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,
    My registration seems to work fine on the computer but I get reviews that some users can’t register on their mobile device. I tried to register through mobile and have the same issues. After completing the form I get redirected to the same registration form with no errors.

    Website info:
    – WordPress version: 5.2.3–nl_NL
    – Website: mierenmarkt.be
    – Registration form: mierenmarkt.be/registratie

    I tried:
    – Disable plugins (-> didn’t work)
    – Change theme to default (-> didn’t work)

    Anyone knows any fixes? I don’t get error reports in my error logs.

    Hi,

    My site is http://www.tipua.com, WordPress 5.2.3, Buddypress 4.4.0

    I’m still struggling with reducing the default number of comments displayed on updates in the activity stream from 5 to 2.

    Based on a couple of older posts here I’ve tried editing the function bp_dtheme_hide_comments() found in global.js at /plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc

    However, that doesn’t work, can anyone point to where I need to make this change?

    Any guidance you give me would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Chris

    The error is in your theme, not in the BuddyPress plugin.

    Your theme, jannah_v3.2.0, contains some BuddyPress files.
    /home/banoyeir/domains/mysite.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/jannah_v3.2.0/jannah/framework/plugins/class-tielabs-buddypress.php

    You need to show the error to the creators of your theme.

    Hello, good afternoon, I have a very serious problem, causing the malfunction of the community.

    I’ve done all the installation and reinstallation procedures of the plugin, but the tables are not recreated.

    I deleted the tables via PHP admin, but I can’t get them back there.

    https://suprimatec.com/wp-content/uploads//2019/09/tables.jpg

    BP Versão 4.4.0
    WordPress 5.2.2 with the theme Jannah.

    I tried to upload the tables from another installation, but it didn’t work, is there anything I can do via php admin to connect the tables?

    I already reinstalled WordPress, reinstalled the theme, but nothing works.

    Hello!

    I was trying to find a way of deleting users accounts but keeping their activity on the site.

    The situation is that my site in an Intranet, so when people leave the company I don’t want them to show up on the directories or to be a part of the total members count and so on, which I can only achieve by deleting them (I’ve tried creating a role “invisible” with a rule to not appear in the directory but they still show up in the members count and in some other members widgets from my theme).
    I used to have an option of deleting users and sending them to the trash, and with that they would stop showing everywhere but would keep all the activity done in the site; however, now I only have the option of permanently delete the user and so the activity disappears with it.

    I don’t know if this is something I should be solving with Buddypress or with the theme support.
    However.

    Thank you!

    Hello everyone.

    I just installed Buddypress on my site, however, my “activity” page isn’t working. The page is blank and doesn’t have an option for users to post updates. User activity doesn’t show up on it.

    On Buddypress page settings, the correct page is selected for activity streams so I can’t figure out the problem. Any help is appreciated. I’ve been stuck for days.

    Switching to 2019 theme didn’t help.

    Hello,

    I am trying to implement the Reftagger plugin ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/reftagger/ ) on my BuddyPress site, and it works great except for on BuddyPress activity posts, in which it is not working at all.

    I’ve tried doing the Reftagger javascript manually ( https://faithlife.com/products/reftagger/customize ) running site-wide like this but same results:

    <script>
    	var refTagger = {
    		settings: {
    			bibleVersion: "NKJV",
    			dropShadow: false,
    			roundCorners: true,
    			socialSharing: [],
    			tooltipStyle: "dark",
    			customStyle : {
    				heading: {
    					backgroundColor : "#185d70"
    				}
    			}
    		}
    	};
    	(function(d, t) {
    		var g = d.createElement(t), s = d.getElementsByTagName(t)[0];
    		g.src = "//api.reftagger.com/v2/RefTagger.js";
    		s.parentNode.insertBefore(g, s);
    	}(document, "script"));
    </script>

    Can anyone please help me understand why it’s not working for BP activity posts?

    By the way, I am using the BuddyBoss theme.

    Hello,

    I know there are quite a few topics already on excluding people from the Members Loop, but this one is a bit different.
    I’m trying to exclude people who do not have MemberPress Memberships. I’ve seen several based on user role and extending the directory via a custom query (https://buddypress.org/support/topic/extend-bp_members-custom-query/), but nothing related to MemberPress. I’m really hoping I will not need to do as this custom query guy did it and ping my database for every member to see if a membership exists.

    Here is how I’m attempting to do it without luck (within members-loop.php which is located in wp-content/themes/THEME/buddypress/members):

    <?php while ( bp_members() ) : bp_the_member(); ?>
            <?php if(user_can(bp_get_member_user_id(), 'mepr-active', 'memberships: 36, 37, 38, 189, 198, 325, 1141, 1142, 1143, 1127, 1130, 1138')): ?>

    	jq("#close-notice").on( 'click', function() {
    		jq(this).addClass('loading');
    		jq('#sidebar div.error').remove();

    		jq.post( ajaxurl, {
    			action: 'messages_close_notice',
    			'notice_id': jq('.notice').attr('rel').substr( 2, jq('.notice').attr('rel').length )
    		},
    		function(response) {
    			jq("#close-notice").removeClass('loading');

    			if ( response[0] + response[1] == '-1' ) {
    				jq('.notice').prepend( response.substr( 2, response.length ) );
    				jq( '#sidebar div.error').hide().fadeIn( 200 );
    			} else {
    				jq('.notice').slideUp( 100 );

    Can Anyone help me with this?

    I don’t think there is a corelation. Maybe there is but it might be too specific for your theme.

    Are you referring to this line of code:
    <legend><?php _e( 'Who can see this field?', 'buddypress' ) ?></legend>

    In this file:
    buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\single\profile\edit.php

    If so, you can overload that template file. And make your edits in the overload template.

    I’m trying to remove the Notifications > General subtab and set the Notifications > Notifications as default subtab.

    BP does not include a ‘General’ subtab for notifications. The only subtabs are: Unread, Read

    You’ll need to check your theme, or some other plugin or code and find out where the ‘General’ subtab is added – and how it was done.

    I agree with breatheheavy about support being bad. For example I have created a ticket back in july stating that View version details for theme updates do not show any info.
    It redirects to buddyboss.com home page. When it should go to https://www.buddyboss.com/resources/buddyboss-theme-releases/1-1-8/ or something similar. Ticket has been closed and todays theme update still shows no release info….

    Support seems to be in a different timezone not geared towards US market. Most of the time you can expect one reply per 24 hours(closed on weekends).

    Hello

    I just installed and activated BP on my site. I am a little confused though. As soon as I activated BP plugin it created a bunch of pages. That’s fine, I get all that. As of activation though something else occurred that I don’t understand.

    It appears that BP auto created a menu with the pages Members and Activity on my site. I can’t find that menu to move it or customize it. My theme has no menus created (it’s a fresh WP site I am just starting.)
    How do I get those pages to disappear, or to be able to move them? I can’t even add the other BP pages to that menu because there isn’t one.

    Any help or clarification would be much appreciated.

    I am eager to introduce BuddyBoss’ latest release to my members, but unfortunately I have run into a bit of a nightmare.

    I purchased the platform / theme for around $225 nearly six weeks ago. I have tried for weeks to try and get the theme/platform to function properly (including on three different test environments), but unfortunately I run into different errors every time (including on fresh WordPress installs to rule out there’s any previous plugin interference).

    The support from BB, especially in the last two weeks, has basically been non-existent. I have to virtually beg for a reply. Right now they say there’s a Tier 3 support team looking into things, but an entire week has gone by and no one from that team has reached out.

    Wish I could say I’ve had a good experience thus far, and am not ruling out using them still because I have invested a lot of time and energy trying to make it work, but so far I’m pretty disappointed. I’m at the point where I’m asking them if I should invest in hiring a developer so I can move things forward. Doesn’t feel right to have to hire a developer to make something that should be working… work.

    I hope I can come back to this post in the near future and say BB has helped me turn things around.

    RE–Changing ‘Private Message’ to ‘Message’ throughout BuddyPress and bbPress

    Would like to remove the word ‘private’ from anywhere ‘private message’ automatically appears, so that these always just say ‘message’, not ‘private message’.

    The last answer here was 5+ years ago:

    Topic: Private Message Button Label Change · BuddyPress.org

    Is this still the last word? Any BuddyPress based themes, plugins, add-ons, or a way to do this simply? Considering using Front End PM to sidestep this issue.

    Thanks for suggestions or help.

    Hello, I have a theme that has added some buddypress profile tabs because of this, the membership, invitations, and create group tabs withing the groups page, moves way down and does not stay with the original set of tabs on the buddypress profile. Tab Error. I worked with the theme developer and they are saying this would have to be fixed in \buddypress\members\single\profile.php and I am not a PHP developer.

    Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Hi @eloyruiz

    You can add this Gist into a bp-custom.php file to achieve what you want to do:
    https://gist.github.com/imath/113ad3226c9a01ac56c2d2edabb458f3

    PS: you need to keep the public view for users viewing other profiles.

    In terms of being locked in, there is no more lock-in with BuddyBoss vs BuddyPress. Both are free, open source plugins. And BuddyBoss is being more actively developed than BuddyPress actually.

    It is very easy to toggle between the two while testing. We only have one migration script, which is for people who have used our old Media plugin to migrate their media posts. For all BuddyPress data there is no data migration necessary. The core data structure is intentionally the same.

    The main work to switch is just switching your theme. As we have editing the templates quite a bit to achieve a nicer frontend experience.

    As for putting the BuddyBoss Platform on Github, that will happen soon. This month or next. It’s actually on Github now we just need to document the contributor process and then make the repo public. We want developers to contribute to it. This has always been our plan, we’re just doing things carefully one step at a time. We’ll soon let customers vote on core features as well and then we can pick the most requested features and prioritize them.
