Isnt working for me…. Maybe a bug?
How do i make this bar always visible also for guests?
Since buddypress 1.5 you can use:
`
define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true );
`
I use it in bp-custom.php although it can go in wp-config.php
Well,
How do i get back the normal one from wordpress
Just an update. I found a plugin that gives at least basic functionality.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-post-toolbar/
It allows for basic text edits and images and stuff so this will work for now. Also it seems like maybe there will be better support for an editor in bbpress 2.1.
Yesterday, with Post Toolbar deactivated, the problem returned. I eventually found that deactivating Front End User, made everything happy again. I reactivated Post Toolbar once more.
This morning I found it wasn’t working once again, so I deactivated Post Toolbar for a moment and then reactivated it. Everything hunky dory once again.
What sort of issue would cause this problem to be intermittent in this way?
Assuming it is a jQuery issue, is this something that can be fixed or is it a case of choosing different plugins?
Many thanks. Looks like it was bbPress Post Toolbar causing the problem. Was preventing PrettyGallery working as well.
Don’t know anything about jQuery so now seems like a good time to learn!
you can go back the the wordpress toolbar by adding
define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true ) to your bp-custom.php file – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/
The buddybar is being depreciated, so it’s no longer worth messing around with it to get it perfect (and the wordpress toolbar is alot cooler lookin’)
@MaTaX91 as @dcavins said, the buddybar is being depreciated (when BP 1.6 comes out) so, you should use the toolbar.
The toolbar is alot easier to modify too
Here’s the codex – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_node
@G – looking into the buddypress adminbar stylesheet that bp adds to my site, i believe that that stylesheet has the buddypress specific styles for the ‘toolbar’ (the stuff buddypress adds, such as notifications thus it requires to be in the code (i could be wrong though)
EDIT: You could always remove it if you wanted to – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_deregister_style

Hello.
I seem to be back to squar one this morning.
When I login to WordPress I am taken to my website’s homepage with the BuddyPress toolbar at the top.
When I click on ‘Dashboard’ i get a completely blank page at http://www.kairoscanada.org/wp-admin/.
Not good.
I can’t access my admin at all.
Nik
p.s. When I do a view source on either browser it gives me utf8 but then I select View -> Character Encoding from the toolbar, it gives me UTF8 for firefox (and Chrome) but Western (european) for IE so for some reason IE is not picking up UTF8. As of last week I have the latest WP and BP (I know there has been a BP release this week, but would like to sort this before installing).
@derek-melo While, their is no front end interface for it (though, i’m sure afew plugins will popup) It’s VERY easy to modify the admin bar/toolbar in the 1.6 trunk of buddypress.
@jack-v I agree, privacy is a required component that needs to come out sooner than later. Afew people ( @cnorris23) have been working on privacy – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3695

If your problem is specific to the Sitewide Forums not working, your best place for support is the bbPress forums at http://www.bbpress.org. They work with BuddyPress’ activity stream.
On the BuddyPress side of things, we’re deprecating the BuddyBar, so there was no point building bbPress 2.0 support into it. In BP 1.6, we’re switching over the the WP Toolbar. And in conjunction with bbPress 2.1, it’ll integrate forums into BuddyPress groups.
No date for BP 1.6 yet, but will hopefully be in beta soon.

For the WP Admin Bar / Toolbar, check out:

You should make style overrides in your theme’s stylesheet (/wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/style.css) and not the files listed above.
I’m wondering if there’s some way that i can change the link that the Profile button within a user page in BP 1.5 leads to. The plugin in i’m trying to make it lead to is Simple:Press’ profile for the user whom’s BP user page you’re viewing. This would also go for the Profile link in the WP toolbar at the top of the website.
I want to do this since i don’t want to have multiple pages of profile-fields for each user and Simple:Press already has a bunch of good profile fields that BP doesn’t.
@sbaglia BP 1.5.2 was simply a small update to fix a few conflict issues with the two bars. (rather than leaving us stranded with broken sites)
The proper WP 3.3 update for Buddypress is 1.6 or 1.5.something where the features will be integrated.
Yes, because this site and demo site testbp.org are running on BuddyPress trunk.
Ummm….sorry, I’m a little confused. It seems buddypress.org and testbp.org have *new* admin toolbars on the front page, whereas my site has an old one on the front, and new one on the back end. Again, is this how it should be?
@hscottda @justin-2-2-2 full integration of BP buddybar with WP adminbar aka Toolbar is set up already in BP trunk version. This may come out sometime BP 1.6 if not sooner.
I get what you mean. Integration of WP adminbar with BP buddybar into new WP Toolbar is already in BP trunk https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk – might come out in BP 1.6 if not earlier.
Hi there,
i’m using Buddypress in my blog. Really nice, i love it!
I need to report a problem with BP notifications: if someone responds to a comment activity or activity update, the author receive email notification but not BP notitication (i mean in buddybar/toolbar notifications)
I checked the source code and i found that in the function bp_activity_new_comment_notification() is missing the call to bp_core_add_notification(). Maybe is this the problem?
best regards
