In reply to: [resolved] Changing ”Groups” to ”Teams”
@mercimeParticipant== Is there a way to make the change from “Groups” to “Leagues” happen everywhere? ==
Yes. Use language translation file as in https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
March 4, 2012 at 11:06 am #130866Paul Wong-GibbsKeymasterYou’re either going to have to do a find/replace in your theme, or use a language file to achieve the same; https://codex.buddypress.org/translations/.

@ChrisClaytonParticipant@40cooper – the best way to modify text is via a translation file
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/February 14, 2012 at 5:52 pm #129797@mercimeParticipantI know the “Reply” button, but what “Quote” and “Complaint” buttons do you want? Something is getting lost in translation somewhere. Could you be more specific?
BuddyPress/WordPress versions?
What theme are you using?
What plugins do you have installed?
In what pages are the quotes and complaint buttons supposed to be seen?February 8, 2012 at 9:31 pm #129494In reply to: Activating languages on buddypress
Paul Wong-GibbsKeymasterNo, set WPLANG to ‘el’, just like if you weren’t using BuddyPress. You can’t define WPLANG twice, it won’t work. You’ll need a WordPress translation loaded, as well as a BuddyPress one.
January 30, 2012 at 2:17 am #128822In reply to: Filter for “Add friend” button
acesParticipantYou don’t need to do the whole translation – just the word(s) etc, that you want. It is also used in a slug so that would need to be dealt with….
Another way is linked to in the above note but ‘friend’, and variations of it, appear in lots of places so translation might be better ….
Poedit does make the task easier and you don’t lose the language ‘edits’ when buddypress is upgraded….

ben_allisonMemberThere’s no easier way than doing a whole translation?
I figured there might be something like bp_add_friend_button(‘Add a friend’);

acesParticipantThe buddypress admin menu is translated as are the main tabs, ‘Componentes’ page content is translated but ‘Configurações’ page content is still in english.
The parts that aren’t buddypress aren’t translated for me, as I don’t have the main wordpress and theme or plugin language files installed

What theme were/are you using? There’s something getting lost in translation and we’re speaking in the same language.
January 4, 2012 at 6:18 pm #127413In reply to: [Resolved] Please help me translation
acesParticipantI just double checked and I had made an error when I renamed the language files.
I used:
buddypress-pt_BR.po
buddypress-pt_BR.moand:
`define (‘WPLANG’, ‘pt_BR’);`
then it worked for me ( although the actual buddypress translation is not complete ) …..

acesParticipantI think that there may be something wrong with the downloaded translations files…
Following the same procedure with the pt_PT files does change some of the language whearas the pt_BR file doesn’t seem to change anything….
I don’t know where the fault is. It seems that the place you downloaded from might only be the bp 1.2.* version. but it’s not clear….

Guga123MemberI’ve done this and still does not translate.
January 4, 2012 at 5:39 pm #127404In reply to: [Resolved] Please help me translation
acesParticipantTry renaming them to:
buddypress-pt_BR.mo
buddypress-pt_BR.poThey may be incomplete translations though…..
Edit: something isn’t right…..

January 4, 2012 at 5:23 pm #127400In reply to: [Resolved] Please help me translation
acesParticipanthave you tried to put ( for Portugal )
`define (‘WPLANG’, ‘pt_PT’);`
or ( for Brazil )
`define (‘WPLANG’, ‘pt_BR’);`
in wp-config.php ?Language codes: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
January 4, 2012 at 5:10 pm #127399In reply to: [Resolved] Please help me translation
Guga123MemberI’ve downloaded https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/dev
I have already put the files in the folder …. http://www.example.com/wp-content/languages/ and nothing happens
January 4, 2012 at 4:58 pm #127394In reply to: [Resolved] Please help me translation
acesParticipantWhere did you download the language files from?
There is no Portugal Portugese in https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/translations/ and the Brazilian Portugese link goes to non relevant advertising in Japanese….
If it doesn’t already exist you need to create a languages folder under wp-content – http://www.example.com/wp-content/languages/
