Topic: Register link is broken
Help!!
My register link is broken!!
When logged out, a user can not register. The register page (www.gaysurfers.net/register) is broken
It comes up with a white page with my register.jpg (the image used by ‘register plus plugin’ to replace the standard wordpress image on the sign up page). I have tried deactivating the ‘register plus plugin’ but it did not change anything.
Are there any incompatibilities with these Buddypress and ‘register plus plugin’?
Thanks for you help.
Hi everyone. I have wordpress 2.9.2, BP Template Pack, and buddypress 1.2 using the Suffusion theme it is running just fine, but I can’t seem to get the sidebars and content to line up. If you have a look at my site
http://www.darkfaery-subculture.com/members/admin/activity/
the sidebars and content break. I’ve spent two days trying to find the solution and it’s probably an easy one, but I am stressed out now. I would appreciate if someone could help me or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
1. Which version of WP/MU are you running?
WP 2.9.2, single-user
2. Did you install WP/MU as a directory or subdomain install?
directory
3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory?
root
4. Did you upgraded from a previous version of WP/MU? If so, from which version?
No
5. Was WP/MU functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress (BP)? e.g. permalinks, creating a new post, commenting.
Yes
6. Which version of BP are you running?
1.2.1
7. Did you upgraded from a previous version of BP? If so, from which version?
No
8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated?
No – brand new WordPress install on my testing domain
9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes?
I’m using the theme that comes with BuddyPress
10. Have you modified the core files in any way?
No.
11. Do you have any custom functions in bp-custom.php?
No.
12. If running bbPress, which version? Or did your BuddyPress install come with a copy of bbPress built-in?
No, BuddyPress installed bbPress upon my opting to add it to my site
13. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files.
Not sure how to look that up
14. Which company provides your hosting?
BlueHost
WHEW! OK, so maybe I’m really dense, so I’ve installed BuddyPress here: http://www.everybodyneedsawebsite.net
For some reason, I only see a way to login, but I don’t see any place to register a new account if you’re a new user.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!
Doron
Hello,
I’m working on integrating BuddyPress into my exising WordPress theme. So far, I’ve gotten most of it to work correctly and am now focussing on making actually look good. That requires me to work on some of the css being pulled from the BP.css sheet in the bp-template-pack.
What’s the best way to do this? Should I just edit the file where it is at now? Can I add the specific tags in my theme’s style sheet and have those override the BP.css?
Is there a best approach?
Many thanks.
up on the repo
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/
lemme know about any bugs/issues/features.
This plugin will restrict group creation and settings to certain WP Capabilities. In addition, this plugin will auto-demote the group creator to group mod to ensure group settings may not be modified after creation. You may also define a group admin and mod that will be auto-assigned all new groups created.
Auto-assigning an admin and/or mod to new groups
In your wp-config.php file – set the following constants and check ‘Auto demote group creator to group mod‘ under the settings page.
define( ‘BP_RESTRICTGROUP_AUTOADD_ADMIN_USER_ID’, the_database_user_id );
and/or (admin inherits mod – no reason to define the same user_id twice)
define( ‘BP_RESTRICTGROUP_AUTOADD_MOD_USER_ID’, the_database_user_id );
I’ll change this step in the future to selecting users via the admin settings page.
http://blog.etiviti.com/2010/03/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/
Basically, I changed up the group creation steps (removed all the others, add in a closed one) – then demote the group creator to a mod so they can’t go back and change the settings. You map an overall group creation cap level. Also you can map different cap levels to enabling a forum and the group status levels (private/hidden). If you leave those blank – then nothing appears and force a public only group otherwise make the same as the overall.
Topic: BP as a talentplatform?
Hi,
I’m looking into BP for a new project which is something similar to this: http://www.talenttrove.com/. It’s basically a talent platform where the talents can upload their media, communicate with other talents and where scouts can search through the talents and start auditions etc.
Can this be done with BP or should I develop it as a standalone script (not WordPress that is)?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Hi Guys
Hoping someone in the community could help.
I am the creator of my community, and Im getting about 10 people to help me moderate the site.
Id like to highlight these moderators throughout, eg:
a) highlight something around the avatar
b) maybe put a nice border around all their forum posts and activity updates etc
c) etc
This sort of thing is usually done on wordpress blogs, where the author comments are highlighted, but id like to do it across buddypress to “show off” the moderators
Could someone please help me with the CSS etc to make this happen?
(Im using default BP 1.2 theme)
