Hi, I´m new to BuddyPress (not so much to WordPress) and I´m having a bit of trouble getting it to work as expected.
Let´s go to the details…
I´ve setup two different installations of WP(Multisite) + BP in two different servers.
in both cases I get everything running with the exception of:
— @mention email notification
— friend request email notification
— reply email notification
strangely enough
— private messages
— new user regisistration
— new user activation key
get through and send the right emails
just for the record
Every user/profile used for testing purposes had a valid email address and all the notification emails checked in each profile configuration
WP(multisite) 3.0.4 with a single site for now and followed the installation guide
BP 1.2.7
No other plugin installed or runing
As I´ve said some Emails do go out (It´s not an email server problem) and just in case I´ve made some tests configuring SMTP but got just the same results.
BuddyPress is a great application and seems to work lovely with WP.
Is there a way to fix this problem and get those emails out?
That would be fantastic.
Please let me know of any possible tweak, tip, trick, hook or whatever may do the magic
Thanks in advance,
Andrés
@Chatterpit the first link I gave show server and WordPress install requirements before installing BuddyPress. At this stage where you mentioned “Okay I just installed wordpress. I am logging in but it wont let me go to site admin when I click it?” it shows that your WP install is not even working correctly. There are many reasons for that and you should find resolution to your WP installation issue at WordPress.org forums before attempting to install BuddyPress plugin.
`bp_is_active()` checks if a BP $component is active – not whether members are registered but not activated. The `bp_account_was_activated` function is used in the activate.php template but isn’t appropriate here I don’t think.
In addition to the BuddyPress Conditional Tags – https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/conditional-template-tags/ – you might also look at WordPress Conditional Tags – https://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags – to see if there are any that will work for you.
P.S. I just saw your other post.

This occurs due to my BuddyPress Auto Group Join plugin. How can I hide the not-yet-activated members from appearing on the Group Members page?
`
It seems like it would be better to modify the plugin(s) causing the issue instead of modifying the BP code. Maybe the plugin developers can assist.
Hello,
I’ve been working all weekend on this one and I just can’t seem to find an answer.
*//PROBLEM: Users that have registered but have NOT activated their accounts show on the Group Members page (…/[bpressdirectory]/groups/[groupname]/members/). This occurs due to my BuddyPress Auto Group Join plugin (link below). How can I hide the not-yet-activated members from appearing on the Group Members page?

Any idea where I went wrong?

Okay I just installed wordpress. I am logging in but it wont let me go to site admin when I click it?
So I need to install wordpress? is buddypress a plugin for it? Cpanel is a popular website hosting platform.
please let me know about my question.
What is c-panel?
Buddypress only will run on a wordpress installation.
Wondering if it’s some sort of weird WordPress bug or something unusual on your host’s servers.
Everybody, I think I have found my solution.
Please forgive me and I am so sorry, as I am the buggiest moron!
This could be a bug, but I have no idea.
For some reason, setting your wordpress timezone to the “set city” sections, such as setting it to “denver”, the timezone gets off by hours.
In wordpress general settings, in the timezone, scroll all the way down to the “manual offsets” such as UCT-7 and that type of time code.
This solved my problem, I have no idea why it does this… mmhm
@boonebgorges d’oh I should have looked there – thanks
I have had this problem since buddypress 1.2.6 was released, but I seeked support over at WPMU.org but they were stumped also.
I have no problem with the wordpress time because when somebody posts a comment, the time is correct on “posted time”
@djpaul, @boonebgorges, the reason why it’s several weeks into 1.2.7, is because I just set up my wordpress on Thursday. All of this is new to me, and I just installed buddypress. I am using the default theme, with No extra plugins installed just for this problem.
@boonebgorges, do you mean give you the username and psw do all of my sites files? Or SQL?
Hi,
I just wanted to say that bpckeditor works great on my buddypress forum, and gives my site users an excellent visual editor!
I am running wordpress 3.04 and bbpress 1.2.7.
I installed and actived bpckeditor, then modified the customconfig, path to ckeditor and URL to ckeditor fields on the bpckedit settings page.
You should set the customconfig path to http://yoursite.com/wp-content/plugins/bpckeditor/config.js not the one in the bpckeditor/ckedit/ directory. Reload your forum and hey hey a visual editor!
Hope this helps
Ian
Those tabs are created in your theme’s header.php. You can just move them around in the markup itself by cutting and pasting. See https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/ for more info on creating a child theme.
Hi everybody! I have installed WordPress latest version locally using WAMP package to try out many options. It works fine if the Permalinks are chosen the default option. I have installed some plugins (including buddypress) that require Permalinks to be changed from the default option to some other. But I am getting a 404 Error page if I change permalinks. So I have rolled back it. Please advise me how to rectify this issue locally.
Thanks,
Siva.
Hi all,
I am interested in reordering the navigation links on my buddpress site http://www.yeahhackney.com
I currently have wordpress pages first then the buddypress pages, but I’d rather switch them over and give more prominence to the buddypress ones. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Emily
I found out that if I disable Job Manager (which isn’t in use anyways) the redirect takes me to the front page (blog excerpts) instead of the activity stream.
Now, I don’t know exactly what happened, but I kept the plugin disabled, I once again re-saved the permalink of one page, and suddenly they were all working again… Sorry I can’t be of more help as to what went wrong or how I fixed it, but at least there doesn’t seem to be any problem any longer
It’ll be under Databases. Then you will have to locate the database where WP is installed, likely called wordpress or something similar
I got a fancy home link (allthough I already had one) when I installed buddypress, and whenever I click it it takes me to the wordpress directory not the site url. It doesn’t matter much if I can’t fix it, but how do I remove the link?
=== i am waiting for solution…..===
@newvisioninfotech It is important that your WordPress installation is working correctly before installing and activating BuddyPress https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configuration
Instead of only waiting for solution here, I suggest that you also post your issue at WP.org forums where there are more people with Windows hosting https://wordpress.org/support/
I’ve been at work all day, and not one of you have read my earlier post fully. Let’s try again:
1) I’m assuming, as you’ve said, that the WordPress timezone is set to your timezone. Do you know if your server itself is based in a different timezone from you?
2) Are you also sure that it’s *every* timestamp?
3) Also, check if your server is running PHP5 or PHP4. If you’re not sure, ask your host.
Hi All,
New here – sorry if it’s the wrong section!
First time experimenting with BuddyPress but I’ve used wordpress many times before.
I need to be able to moderate any user fields that my users have. I’ve read that you can moderate anything on Buddypress but am stuck on this.
Dont mind if its a plugin! Just need to moderate any field in the user profile.
Thanks in advance,
Phil Johns
