I use wordpress MU 3.0.1 and the newest version of buddypress.
When I sign up or login, it goes to the main page. How can i change it to my blog ‘s admin page? just like WordPress.
Thanks.
@Dwenaus Yeah, I’m in it for the social networking. I think I actually tried job-manager yesterday, but it didn’t seem to play nice with Buddypress. I’m guessing some plugins for WordPress will work with BuddyPress, but not all…or?
I just tried Jobboardr. The CV part seems great, but I can’t figure out how to create job posts (is it disabled or am I going blind?
). Also, I tried to create a group (thinking jobs might be dependent on groups), but a got an error message saying “Please fill in all required fields.” when pressing “Next Step” on the privacy settings page (public/private/hidden group).
@babelsheep yes this is possible and a good idea for a plugin. However If all you need is a job board and you don’t need social networking then I believe there are wordpress plugins that do this well.https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/job-manager/ is one choice but there are others.
I had the same error and still wanted to use the theme – after I renamed it and got rid of the error message, I tried disabling the BuddyPress Template Pack plugin I’d installed to try to get a normal WordPress theme to work. Then I went back and applied the same buddypress theme again, this time with no problems.
Additionally, if you want members to be post in frontend of blog where BP is installed, you can use either
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/one-quick-post/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jet-quickpress/
Additionally, you can enable multisite on your WordPress site and then allow all of your users to create their own blogs.
Yes you would grant users ‘Contributo’r or ‘Author’ privileges to write on the main blog, what I do is add links for certain user capabilities to the adminbar so there is an easy route to the create new post & pages screens.
BuddyPress is a WordPress plugin so you install BuddyPress the same as other WP plugins. You might also like to check out:

Installation
Ok, I have the latest BP installed on WP 3.01. I would like my users to provide content, you can call it a blog if you like. Something other than the forum.
How? Users should go to /wp-admin and there write a blog?
I reinstall BP, it seems all right.
Thannks.
Just have: No can’t create a blog from the initial registration page, but yes can create a blog once signed in which is pretty telling really. You do not have a clean install at work here it is a modified one, remove any and ALL mods made, any plugins that might be messing things up, add the admin bar back in while testing, in fact do not hide the admin bar as it’s still creating mal-formed markup using the admin option to hide it which I thought had been fixed after I raised the issue/ticket; what version of BP are you running?
Please remove my sign up.
I’m using this plugin : https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-secure-invites/
I have restricted registration only by invitation , yet I got one registration ….
have to done all the spam blocking techniques mentioned here to my installation … but did some definitely
sorry for not clarify issues.
First,
In Registration Settings, I selected “Both sites and user accounts can be registered.”
And When I sign up a new test account , and select to create a new blog with a given sub domain name.
But, there is no new blog created , the test account only become a member of the main site.
please check it from here: http://usenode.com/register/
you can test it.
Thanks.
I’m not sure we’re not talking at cross purposes here.
you say “new user was for main site” ok all fine and good but “mot a new created blog site” ? not sure what that means.
A new user registers they opt to create a new blog, they become a member of the main site i.e the parent WP site which is running BP they also get a blog created at a sub domain address this blog is in effect a standalone blog it should be linked to however from their profile. Iniatially they will be the only person registered to that sub domain blog and the main site has to allow users to register to the sub blogs.
still have problem, the new user was for the main site. not a new created blog site.
Custom Community Theme is a multi columns (left, right, left and right), widget-ready Buddypress theme. It comes in a clean and simple css-design in a light or dark version. You have an admin option page to customize nearly every part of the theme. It has a community-navigation widget, is 100% WP 3.0 compatible, e.g. custom menus. Also it has a custom header to change text color or add a logo or background-image.

Alright, you just add a do_action call (like above) to one of the extensions and then attach a function to that action, like so: `add_action( ‘this_is_some_hook’, ‘your_function_name’ )`. You’ll also have to provide hooks in the functions where the data gets saved and hook into those to save the extra groupmeta. The WP codex has lots of info on actions and filters and is a good place to start.
This isn’t an issue I’ve come across, you shouldn’t have a problem, that you say tings work with BP disabled yet not when BP is enabled is odd, I presume you have created a sub-domain under the WP setup, when activating BP BP should pick that blog up and show it under th members account/profile as a user blog.
yes, I use the default BP theme. but it can’t create new blog , only create the user
Hmm not sure what the problem is then, you are using the default BP theme aren’t you
yes, all of this seems right.
I use the WP 3.0.1
and add
define( ‘MULTISITE’, true );
define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true );
$base = ‘/’;
define( ‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘usenode.com’ );
define( ‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’ );
define( ‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );
define( ‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );
also DNS wild card entry allowed.
Now, I signup , only the user was created, no new blog create, even I input the blog ‘s sub-domain.
But, when I remove the buddypress, use the default theme of WP 3.0.1, it works, I can create the use with new blog.
Have you enabled the registration of both users and blogs in the main site options?
Have you definitely enabled Multi Site capability – is this actually WP 3.0.1 or the now slightly older WPMU you are using?
Have you set DNS wild card entry to allow sub domains to work?
install WordPress MU and BP,
and use the BP default theme, but I can’t signup with create a new blog.
every time a put the sub-domain, it seems can’t create the blog.
