    When a user logs in to my BuddyPress site, it redirects them to the WordPress login. Does this mean that you need to create a WordPress account to login to your BuddyPress account? If so, is there a way around this since I would like my users to just login through the BuddyPress portal and have that get them straight to the BuddyPress site.

    Hi.
    I have successfully registered new users which are active.
    However, none of them get redirected to a profile page after login and none of them have a profile page for all i know. Its like Buddypress doesn’t consider them active because it does not show them on the Members Area even though I have tried multiple logins with their account and WordPress confirms they are active.

    Hello!

    I have created a plugin that moves the user email preferences to the woocommerce ‘my account’ menu. Everything looks great, but when I select options between the “yes/no” and then click save, nothing changes/nothing is saved?

    Perhaps I’m missing something? Could anyone shed some light on which file remembers and stores the selection after hitting submit?

    The form in question can be located here:
    buddypress/members/single/settings/notifications.php

    Thanks!

    BuddyPress Community – Olympus Theme – Youzer

    This is three questions in one, looking for 1-3 plugins that work together to accomplish these things? I can insert code if I’m told exactly how/where to put it, but I’m very much not a coder so I’d prefer to use plugins if I can. lol

    1. Can I have multiple Users assigned to one profile (like a business, the owner and an admin person). For example a Business owner sets up a business profile but allows the manager or supervisor access to post jobs or advertising through it?

    2. Can I create two different profiles (that have different profile fields upon registration) like a person vs a business under the same site?

    3. Can there be profile parents like if a company has 3 locations – a main company profile and 3 child profiles – one for each location so the managers can logon and manage their own accounts with job ads and advertising? And the parent can do the same for the headquarters?

    Hi there,

    I have started building wp community using BP.

    I created a test account using the BP register function. When I try and login it redirects me to:
    https://wordpress.com/log-in?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.com%2Fwp-login.php%3Faction%3Djetpack-sso%26site_id%3D174275720%26sso_nonce%3Dtzrqdu6inkxwmhwn0upe

    Is there some code I need to configure to get to redirect to home page or activity page? I downloaded and installed the redirect plugin for roles but doesn’t seem to work either.

    I assume there is a line of code overriding this but not sure where to find.

    Thanks in advance

    Ben

    Hi all,

    Apologies for the post. I’m a wordpress/website creation/Buddypress novice and am struggling a bit to get all my plugins to work together. As such this post may not make complete sense as it’coming from a slightly confused place.

    Basically what I’m trying to do is create a person to person marketplace.
    I have a registration form (User Registration plugin) that I like and it also integrates with woocommerce which is a big plus. It also makes a User Registration MyAccount page which I was thinking of using as a profile page (as I can edit this). However, I like the messaging and friend capabilities of buddypress and want to incorporate that if possible (has lead me into some plugin conflicts).

    So I had a few questions:
    1) Could I assign the BP registration page as a page with User Registration shortcode?
    2) Do you need to assign all the BP pages for BP to work?
    3) Could another registration form be used to create a BP profile
    4) Any suggestions as how I could achieve my goals by managing my plugins differently?

    Hi, I can see that the page is only reloading when I try to create an account now.

    Unfortunately with all the plugins you are running it is likely one that is interfering with the buddypress registration. Can you test with only BuddyPress enabled then work through re-enabling until the problem happens again, once you work out which other plugin is interfering they may be able to help.

    Hi,

    I’m using BuddyBoss (with BuddyPress).

    I used this snippet:

    add_filter( 'gettext', 'ps_change_activation_message', 20, 3 );

    function ps_change_activation_message( $translated_text, $text, $domain ) {

        switch ( $translated_text ) {
            case 'You have successfully created your account! To begin using this site you will need to activate your account via the email we have just sent to your address.' :
                $translated_text = __( 'Your membership account is awaiting approval by the site administrator.', 'buddypress' );
                break;
        }

        return $translated_text;
    }

    But this did not work for changing the message.

    Please can you advise?

    Thanks

    Hi I’ve been running into an issue. When someone creates an account on my site, they are sent a verification email to verify their account and activate it. However, I still have to go into the back end and manually activate the accounts under “Manage Signups.”

    Is there any way to disable that? It would be extremely hard once the volume of signups increases. I’m using Youzer as well if that helps.

    Thanks!

    it s in french, the link is “LOGIN AGENCE – S’ENREGISTRER

    If someone can help me would be great 🙂

    Good to know that your problem is solved using paid plugin but If someone faces same problem it’s easy to solve.

    If you didn’t know buddypress has list of shortcodes for almost everything. Find it here – https://codex.bbpress.org/features/shortcodes/

    For Account pages below shortcodes will be handy. You just need to create new pages and paste [shortcode] in your pages.

    [bbp-login] – Display the login screen.
    [bbp-register] – Display the register screen.
    [bbp-lost-pass] – Display the lost password screen.

    to set dynamic login pages follow below.

    1) From your admin dashboard goto settings > Buddypress.

    2) look for tab named Pages.

    3) Select your register and activate pages.

    @sydlyisaacs
    Youzer plugin will do the same but it gives you simpler interface to manage your pages.

    Greetings,
    I have a very simple requirement where I would like to have a mobile/phone number field in the registration form which is doable by adding custom registration fields in Buddypress but, I want the mobile/phone number to have a unique meta key value so that no user can create a second profile with same mobile/phone number.

    Just like email has a unique meta key so that the user can have one account with one email ID, similarly, I would like to have mobile/phone number to be associated with only one profile.

    I don’t want to implement any 3rd party plugin for registration like Ultimatemeber etc as it ads a lot of pages too. I would like to have a small snippet or function to attain this.

    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Waiting for the reply!
    Regard

    Hello Team,

    I’d greatly appreciate support fixing this issue that has plagued my site for the last year and has caused me to abandon the hopes of finally finishing my work. In essence, my admin account is flagged as a spammer by BuddyPress across my entire multi-site network! I am not sure where it started, although I have a hunch it was caused by the plugin “Join My Multisite”. Either way, I have deactivated all plugins and created new sites on my network from scratch but as soon as I install BuddyPress the admin account will be marked as a spammer! This is a huge problem because my site uses BuddyBoss theme, which is powered by BuddyPress! I am in extreme need of assistance here! Please and thank you.

    Here is another thread with a user experiencing a similar issue:

    * other problems IMPORTANT meet we have create people but when we want to put in a group it does not appear in search of their name to add it. This only works for one group, otherwise the search names for the addition do not appear on the other groups?

    *still no documents can be sent from one admin account to another group. No error message is displayed on the admin side of the document but nothing is displayed on the other group that can normally see the document.

    So I found the source of my problem possibly but Im not sure how to change it. I have my Primary Menu set to a menu called Logged In. Another menu I have is called Logged Out. I wanted a returning user to get the Logged In menu which has all the items in the nav bar. If its a new, non signed in user accessing the site, they get the Logged Out menu (this nav menu has far less items on it). This is the code that I have to check if users accessing the site are logged in or not.

    /*To swap between two different menues. One for logged in users, one for logged out*/
    function my_wp_nav_menu_args( $args = '' ) {

    if( is_user_logged_in() ) {
        $args['menu'] = 'Logged In';
    } else {
        $args['menu'] = 'Logged Out';
    }
        return $args;
    }
    add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_args', 'my_wp_nav_menu_args' );

    The code works perfect. I realized that every new menu I create though, it still only shows the Logged In menu it its place. For ex, the Logged In menu has the Notifications Page link (obviously the Logged Out menu would not as no account is active). I decided I wanted Notifications to be its own menu so I could put it in the top right of the site, separate from everything else. I made a new menu called Test and just put the Notification page in it. Then I put the Test menu in its own spot. When I publish it though, now I have two Logged In menus. If I delete the code above, then everything looks correct (but logged out users get the Logged In Primary Menu then).

    Something to note is that my theme only comes with the primary menu option and nothing else. I added code to create a second menu option. When I dropped the Test Menu into that spot it still just showed the Logged In menu twice. So is there a way to change the above code that it still operated properly but also doesnt interfere with every menu I try to create in the future? The above code is located in my wp-content/themes/customify/functions.php section. Im really sorry if I wording this poorly. Any advice for the problem is appreciated!

    Hi BuddyPress support community,

    I am currently in the middle of a project for a client, I’ve never used BuddyPress before but heard many good things about it.

    Here is what I’m trying to achieve:

    2 types of users: 1. standard user (to browse user accounts), 2. paid user (to create paid to view galleries for standard users to view).

    Each paid user will have a private pay-to-view gallery page. The paid user will determin the price to view the gallery. When a standard user wants to see the gallery, they pay the amount specified by the paid user and its split between the website owner and the paid user.

    Can anyone suggest a method to achieve this?

    I have a strange scenario that I’m not sure how to tackle. I created hundreds of users that represent certain fictional characters. I used fake emails (character-name@my-domain) during each user set up.

    The first problem is whenever I made changes to these accounts, it would naturally generate a lot of bounce back emails since the email addresses don’t actually exist. I can set all notifications to “no” in their profiles, but then I’m never notified when real members friend request or message these characters.

    I don’t want to set up a catch-all email as it would just become a honey pot for spammers. I asked my web host if it’s possible to have a white-listed type catch-all for only email addresses I specify, but unfortunately that isn’t possible from them.

    Anyone have any other ideas? Or know of plugins that might enable an admin to view all notification activity for certain users?

    For my website, I’ve created an ID field users have to enter to create an account. On a user’s profile page I want the ability for others to click the ID and go to an external site with that ID. For example, with an ID of 12345, I want the ability for someone to click the link in that user’s profile and go to example.com/12345. BuddyPress already has something similar to this but it only searches for members in the site with that ID. I want it to go to a different site with the ID. I assume this would have to be an action of some kind, but what would the hook be? Additionally, how can I access the profile field’s value? Any idea what the code would look like to send someone to a different site in a new tab? Thanks for your time.

    Hello,
    I am using BP 4.3.0 and WP 5.2.2 and BBP 2.5.14

    When deleting an account the following message appears: Deleting you account will delete all of the content you have created. It will be completely irrevocable.

    This is not true! The content is still visible in the forums that the user participated in. Which is actually good, but the message is false. Can the message be changed to: Deleting your account will keep the content you have created but will be shown under “Anonymous”…or something similar.

    Envato Market has a $20 plugin that claims to “add upload avatar to registration page.”

    It adds it to the registration page, but the avatar doesn’t get saved; it’s a scam.

    Never buy anything for your Buddypress site from Envato Market – I made a $20 mistake by not reading about the company first.

    Listen to Venutius; he is totally correct about what your pluggable options currently are. (Unless you create your own plugin, finding a way to temporarily save the image until after the account is created, and then associate it to the profile, but good luck with all that!)

    Hi,

    I have a WooCommerce store with buddypress to give users profiles, social networking capabilities and also bbPress forums. I want to create a subdomain that will have special content for a subscription, separate from the main store. Is it possible to have the buddypress profiles work for both the main site and subdomain with WooCommerce? I am not sure the best way to set this up so users can shop from both stores with 1 account. I assume I need 2 installations of wordpress/woocommerce/buddypress to make it work???

When user adds themselves mailpoet doesn’t recognise and I have been informed that this is a buddypress issue. Please could this be resolved as I need these automated emails to go when new account is created.
