    Topic: Activity Redirects to Home Page When Logged Outq

    I’m running WordPress 5.5.3 running Executive Pro theme. Using Genesis 3.3.3.

    When a logged out user tries to access the community pages = Activity, Members, Groups, or Forum, it redirects them to the home page. I want it to direct them to the Register page so they know there is a community they can register for.

    In Settings > Buddypress > Pages I have the following set:

    Register > Register
    Activate > Activate

    When I click on “View” from there, it takes me to the home page (but I am logged in at that point since it’s the backend.)

    I am also running BP Registration Options in order to make BUddypress areas private.

    Hello, there seems to be a problem with buddypress. Whenever I assign a registration page it just redirects to homepage.

    I see others are experiencing the same problem but no one is addressing/ solving it.

    Can someone please solve the issue. Seems there is a bug or something.

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times
    I have cleared cache on both site and browser
    I have contacted my hosting and they troubleshoot and said it’s a bug with plugin.
    I have even deactivated all plugins except buddypress.

    Nothing worked. Please help

    Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your help.

    I installed BuddyPress, first time and I’m a total newbie. I dont know why, but Both pages, registration and activation pages goes to homepage.

    I have checked membership box, its settled, uninstalled deleted and installed buddypress again, deleted cache, and the only plugins activated are Updraft and super cache…

    I saw a tutorial wich said I had to add a shortcode to .htaccess with my IP, haven’t done that yet, should I? And if it so, should it be on a .htaccess file on a child theme folder?

    All your help its fully appreciated, thank you!

    Dear Buddypress Folks,

    I am using WP (5.1.1, Buddypress 4.3.3, php 7.0, KLEO newest release)
    My registration page (with or without the kleo_register shortcode does not load properly). It says there are too many redirects or it redirects to the home page. It also says it might be because of rejected cookies.

    It was working properly previously. It might have gone wrong with the latest updates (kleo, buddypress or wp). I did the wp update to 5.1 recently. That was the last update I did.

    But I do have a staging site where everything works properly. Same php, same wp, same bp, same kleo running.
    So I wonder can it be really something with the cookies?

    I have created a new reg page, it does load now in Firefox. And when I hit the registration button, it gets into the redirect loop again. Also, I had a registration form with extended options, so users can accept terms an condition, I need their age etc. This extended form does not load either on the live site.

    What I have done:
    – refresh permalinks
    – checked if anyone can register
    – turned to basic WP theme
    – turned of firewall, caching plugin
    – created new reg page
    – cleaned browser cache, tried different browsers

    I am running out of ideas.
    Please help me out!

    I’m using Kleo Theme

    Hi I’m a new WP & BP user and I want to make it so that not ANYONE can register, but I could send a code or a link to certain people so they can register and make a profile. But anytime I turn off “Anyone can register” it also disables the registration page. Is there a way around this or is there a plugin I can use? Also I made a directory page for the members, but when I’m not logged in and I click on a member profile it redirects me to the home page and I’m unable to see the profile. Is there some settings I can change? The profile visibility is set for everyone…

    Hello, everyone!
    After I have filled the registration form WP redirects me to the Homepage. In users list (Dashboard) I don’t see new user too.
    Steps which I tried to resolve the problem:
    1) WP in simple mode, not WPMS
    2) Dashboard – Settings – checkbox “Users can register” checked
    3) Disabled all plugins and checked BuddyPress registration function
    4) Changed theme to another one. (I use OneCommunity theme by default)
    5) Installed WP Mail SMTP (tried to send messages via php wp_mail & smtp). Both variants work for WP, also checked to send messages via Contact form 7 etc. BUT not sending any mail from BuddyPress
    6) Tried to reinstall BuddyPress plugin, still not working
    7) There is no hosting problems too…
    8) I don’t see another user accounts in Users dashboard.
    9) Switched between old and new BuddyPress templates…
    10) Additional information:
    – WP version 4.9.8
    – BuddyPress 3.1.0
    – Activated plugins (15): Anti-Spam by CleanTalk, bbPress, BuddyPress, Contact Form 7, No Category Base (WPML), OneCommunity Shortcodes, UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore, UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore, Wordfence Security, WP Mail SMTP, WP Sitemap Page, WP-Polls, WPBakery Page Builder, Yoast SEO Premium, WP Recaptcha Integration.
    11) There is no any php errors (when I enable debug) and js errors in browser console.

    I can’t find another reason why didn’t registration form not working…. Domain – barbiusa58.info

    Sorry I thought you were testing the registration page from the front end. So you are saying that clicking on edit the registration page redirects you to the homepage?

    You have to log-out to see the registration page. This is default behavior. It wouldn’t be logical for someone that has the credentials to be logged in to view that page. That is why it redirects to the home page. I am looking at your registration page now and it looks fine!

    I had the exact same problem…if you are already logged in, the site redirects to the home page…or whatever page you have designated as the “home” page. It does this so that previously registered users do not get directed to the registration page. Pretty good idea actually! Anyway…log out and access the site and it will take you to the registration page!

    I also just installed BuddyPress AND bbPress and I really like the functionality of the two sites together. It works wonderfully!

    Register is mapped to the page named Registration, which contains no shortcodes. It’s a blank page. When accessed, it simply redirects to the home page.

    Last night, just before I retired for the evening, I was re-directed to a different URL that presented the form that I expected to see. I do not remember what I did to get there, but do remember the URL:

    domain/site-tracking/create

    That presents the form that I was seeking, and my problem has been solved — however I do not know why (yet).

    Hi All,

    I’m having the same problem. I looked at Andy’s site and it looks like it is working now. I wonder how he got it resolved? I am trying to use the default registration page. I allow registration in wordpress’s Settings > General with the Suscriber role. I have the create account button displaying but it redirects to the homepage. I have not set up any redirects.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    @sbrajesh I have a facebook login.

    When login with facebook it redirects back to the wp-login.

    I use this code in my bp-custom.php

    can some one help me im not good with coding but when i try to register on my site it redirects to my home page with any buddy press theme but if i use a wp theme it works i signed up through go dady i deleted themes but still nothing what cAN I DO?

    Just to update – I made a page template and copied and pasted the contents from register.php into the template file, nothing showed up, then i changed put this on top of the template file:

    and the form shows up but the profile field with Name does not, and after inputing data into the fields that do show up and hitting Complete Sign Up just redirects me to the same page.

    I tried completely deleting all BP plugins, including BP itself as well as all tables in the DB with wp_bp in it as directed on the BP site. I then reinstalled BP through the WP plugins Add New area again. It didn’t ask me to go through the installation wizard again, and when I went to the settings, most of my settings were already there and the pages were already connected. This didn’t seem right to me, especially since I had cleared out all the BP tables and cache files as well.

    And sure enough, when trying to register and account or do anything else, same problem. *sigh* Except for now (after changing my .htaccess file to what you gave me, it just redirects me to the home page after registration, instead of reloading the same page, but the user still is not actually added to the site when checking the users.

    I’m really going crazy here, I’ve tried absolutely everything, what can I do???

    Here’s an answer to my own post in case any one else runs into this. You have to be logged out to view the registration fields and create a new account. Guess I thought admin access meant you would see all site functions while logged in…not so.

    Okay, with all plugins deactivated and BP default theme enabled, /register redirects back to the home page.

    If I were to reinstall BP (and perhaps the base WP files as well) would the information in the DB be preserved?

    Oh, and reactivating plugins afterward broke the site (white-screen syndrome). I hate this thing.

    – Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and check registration.

    I had the same problem. I resolved this by
    1. Select Settings>General – Membership – Select “Anyone can register”
    2. Select Settings>Discussion Settings>Other comment settings – Select “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”
    3. Log out of administrator identity
    4. Clear browser cache
    5. Reload http://www.yoursite.com/register page

    Voila…hope it works for you others…
