HI, I hope someone can help me. I have bbpress for our Forum which has bbPress Digest (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-digest/). The plug-in works great but we had to get BuddyPress in order to edit our user profiles. The combo of both is great, but we don’t want to have a group email digest, we want our clients to be able to change it individually like we can with bbPress Digest. I can’t find a way to show the bbPress Digest options (which is edited in the WordPress user profile.) Can someone help with either a solution or potentially look at our setup and suggest a solution? Theme: Blocksy; Same problem with WP Twenty NineteenNew site, integrating BuddyPress with bbPress.
All goes well until the following step: “If you do not have a group, create a new group under Groups->Add New. Proceed through the setup steps. There will be a ‘Forum’ settings step. Check the ‘Yes. I want this group to have a forum’ option. Continue with the setup steps and create the Group.”
When I click on “Add New” the following message appears: “Oops! That page can’t be found.”Topic: register just refreshes pagewhen filling out register form it just refreshes the page – seems to fail with no error message I can see.
How would I find out what is happening in the browser and on the server to debug?tried with turning off plugins and back to default theme,
also did the list of things to check from here:
 (
 – check the WordPress settings allows account to be created (Anyone can register checkbox needs to be active) See: wordpress.org/support/article/settings-general-screen/#membership
 – check your permalink settings are using one of the pretty permalink options (not plain), see this documentation page wordpress.org/support/article/using-permalinks/#mod_rewrite-pretty-permalinks
 – check the activate and register actions are associated with a public WordPress page. You can find some inputs about it from this documentation page : codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-components/#settings-buddypress-pagesNB: the registration and activation pages are only displayed to users who are not logged in,

was on legacy, switched to neavoxTried with firefox and chrome and different computers..
had a few other profile fields – then removed them from the base signup and it still fails –Help greatly appreciated Hi, I’m running MemberPress/BuddyPress/bbPress for a membership site. I need to restrict various displays to “active members.” In the primary Members display I’ve done this with a combination of:
 (1) Filtering bp_after_has_members_parse_args to exclude users who are not active.
 (2) Overriding buddypress/members/index.php – to eliminate the (now incorrect) number of members and friends at the topThe only issue I have left is that in a user’s profile it still shows the (potentially incorrect) number of Friends in a little circle after the word “Friends.” I haven’t been able to figure out what file to override in order to simply eliminate that number. If it matters, I’m using the “legacy” version. I hope I’ve explained that sufficiently. If not I could try to post a picture somehow. Thanks, Mike When I set up bbpress first locally on my computer, I managed to get all pages for bbpress full width with no sidebars. I simply went to Theme options and set all pages and posts to default full page width tempates.
Now I am setting up bbpress on a live site. buddypress forum pages display correctly in full width, but to my unpleasant surprise the user profile page displays with a sidebar. I simply can’t get rid of the sidebar and make the page full width. This is very disappointing for me – can someone help,
thank youHeyho. I have a major update jump with Buddy-/BB-Press so it was difficult for me to find out the error: Since BBPress version 2.6.7, the profile notifications regarding the forum and mantions are “undefined”. If I go back ones more – i.e. 2.6.6 – it works. is there a manual fix for this? best, neratashy Hello, I am currently developing a website with many different groups and each has its own forum.
I’m using bbpress to create these forums.
For every forum, only the group’s members should have access to it, which works fine.
The problem is that all of these group forums also have subforums but these can be accessed by anyone no matter which group they are in.
in the forum settings itself, I can only choose between public, private and hidden and since all our users will be logged in anyway there is no difference between Public and private.
Is there any way to also use the group restriction for subforums?Regards
GerryHello, The site we’ve developed the client doesn’t want to have any of the forum topics or posts available to the public. I’ve tried a few plugins to try and fix this but none seem to work; bbPress Members Only
 BuddyPress Members Only
Wbcom Designs – Private Community for BuddyPressDoes anyone know how to completely lock down anything in the /forums/ part of the site so that only members can access? Topic: Show only usernameGreetings. I have been looking for information but have not found a clear solution. That is why I thought it would be best to contact you, the developers. I would like to show only the @usernames in the buddypress profiles and also in the bbpress forums, also in the private messages or blog comments. This is possible? Thanks for your patience. Topic: BuddyPress and IPv6Note: I am submitting this again because for some reason my initial post was marked as spam. I’m assuming because I edited it after I submitted it. What is happening is when I try to make a change to the Components section in BuddyPress settings, I get the infamous “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” when I try to save the settings and the settings do not take effect. I am able to successfully enable and disable settings on the Options tab. I have followed all the steps on several sites that talk about sorting this error, including reinstalling WordPress, deactivating all plugins, enabling debugging, using the default theme, regenerating permalinks, etc. etc. The account has administrator role, and bbp_keymaster capabilities, from my attempt to fix the problem by installing bbPress. Deleting the database and starting over is not an option, even though this is a new site, I already have content. What is odd is, when I get the error in WordPress, there are no corresponding PHP or Apache errors, and when I enable debugging, no errors are logged. The only explanation I can come up with is that I have enabled IPv6/dual stack support on my network and it appears that the connection IP from my account isn’t consistent. Sometimes it connects with the IPv4 address, sometimes with the IPv6 address. That’s the only odd thing I can see in the Apache logs. Site URL: https://displaced.zone - WordPress Version: 5.8.1
- Directory install in root directory
- Upgraded from WordPress 5.7.1
- WordPress functions properly, other than this one problem
- BuddyPress Version: 9.1.1
- Not upgraded from a previous version
- Other Plugins: BP Better Messages, Comments Like Dislike, Top Bar, WP Cerber Security, WP Mail SMTP
- Theme: NS Minimal with minor css tweaks
- Core files have not been modified in any way
- No custom functions
- bbPress not installed, although I did install it to see if it would fix the problem
- No server error logs, which is weird
- Self hosted on a home network. I’m not a novice at this, I have done this for years, including a previous WordPress website where I had BuddyPress installed in the same environment, and did not have this issue. The only thing that has changed is the IPv6 support.
- Server OS: Debian GNU/Linux, Bullseye, typical LAMP stack
- I have tried both the Legacy and Nouveau BuddyPress themes
- I have made no changes to BuddyPress template files
- The only other information that might have a bearing on this is that I am not running WordPress “The Debian Way”. I have copied all the files, including the symlinked php libraries, out of the Debian file structure and am running them out of a folder in my home directory. Apache is running as that group and user. But again, I have done this for an entire year, successfully, with another website. Running WordPress this way allows me to use the built in WordPress update system, which doesn’t function as expected if you run WordPress “The Debian Way”.
Hi, I’m experiencing some really odd behaviour when trying to change the slug for my group directory and redirect traffic. My set-up is: BP 9.1.1; BBp 2.6.6, WP 5.8.1 Short explanation: - traffic to a pre-change (/[old]/[groupname]) group url is being redirected to (/[new]/[groupname]/forum)
- This happens regardless of whether:
- There is a specific redirect in place
- There is a regex redirect in place (/[old]/(.*) to /[new]/$1/)
- There is no redirect at all

- My redirect provider – Rank Math – can’t explain this.
I’ve not modified my hta, and the only other redirect rules in page on the site relate to post-login behaviour. It seems there’s something deep within Buddypress, BBpress or WordPress which is driving this, but I have no idea what. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I dare not make this change on my live site without resolving and having a clear idea what’s behind it. Appreciate any suggestions… I’m running WordPress 5.8.1 running Astra theme.
Buddypress 9.11This is an odd question, but I did something that I now can’t figure out for the life of me on my http://www.charlottemasoneducation.org website to require admin approval for registration. In other words, when someone tries to register, I have to approve them before they can engage with the site. I looked through all my plugins listed below and one of them is giving this functionality, but I can’t figure out which one and how. I want to replicate it on another site I’m working on but I’m not able to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. I thought maybe BP Simple Private, but that only makes the site private, it doesn’t provide the approval process functionality. Akismet Anti-Spam

Yoast SEOHey there. I am wondering what kind of host is recommended for an ideally growing/large concurrent user website using BP & bbpress? I think the choices are really between Cloud hosting, VPS, or Dedicated Server. From what I’ve read about BP, scalability concerns seem to be the most mentioned, which is why Cloud hosting is often recommended. Since I’m unfamiliar in server hardware, I asked a few hosting companies and they said that even on a traditional VPS/dedicated server, scaling to a newer server isn’t an issue and only takes few minutes and a reboot (although I am not sure how true this is in practice, and buddypress is a lot more complicated than a standard blog?) I do notice that I can find traditional VPS’ and dedicated servers significantly cheaper than cloud hosting for the resources offered. With that said, should I specifically be looking for Cloud services over traditional? Or are traditional VPS’ and dedicated servers fine? Also, are there specific configurations one should look out for when choosing a server for Buddypress? For e.g. Apache vs Litespeed or 1gbps vs 10gbps port speed seem to be common options. I’ve set up a fresh install of the latest wordpress, bbpress and buddypress:
 WordPress 5.8.1
 bbpress 2.6.6
BuddyPress 9.1.1If I view my own user profile, the pagination of the topics, replies, engagements etc works as expected e.g.
 /members/peter-smith/forums/engagements/page/2/However if I view another user’s profile
 e.g.
 /members/peter2/forums/engagements/
When I click on page 2 of the pagination in any of these sections it take me to the wrong url:
/members/peter2/page/2/You can see it’s missing out the “/forums/engagements/” part of the url. I have tried flushing permalinks. This is using the deafult twentytwentyone theme with no other plugins installed.
