MemberThank you for your response, mrpavlikov, but unfortunately it doesn’t appear to have done the trick for me.
After closer inspection of your code, is it possible that the check_is_admin() function should use the Group ID as the second variable instead of the Activity ID? And if so, how do I reference the Group ID?
In case it makes a difference, I’m using a different theme than the bp-default theme that is contained within the plugins/buddypress directory, so I made the change that you suggested to the ajax.php file within both my child theme directory as well as within the plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default directory. I also made the change to buddypress/bp-activity.php, but it doesn’t seem to have done the trick.
Thanks again for your assistance, and to anybody else who might have some insight on the issue.

MultiSite = Multiple blogs/sites
BuddyPress doesn’t require multisite and it’s not a vs strategy, and more of a ‘What are your needs”BP plugins can certainly do what you want, but so can a custom post types, or separate sites on a Network.

MemberThought I’d update this quickly.
I’ve given up on trying to get the BP admin bar to work in tandem with PlatformPro navigation. Instead I’ve installed a Plugin (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-sliding-login-panel) which creates a rather nice login/profile panel.
My next job is to get all the profile/message screens working properly. The colors clash and dont work, does anybody know where I would look to edit these things?

KeymasterOur in-development version of BuddyPress has had its theme updated for this and many other issues. If you’re familiar with SVN, you can grab a copy from https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk/ — if not, check out a live demo site at http://testbp.org

Member@shanebp I tried that code, but I couldn’t get it working yet. Could you help me with it?
On my functions.php I added bp_send_private_bzzt, bp_send_private_bzzt_link and bp_get_send_private_bzzt_link.
I also added the buzzt link on my theme, but this new link gets me to a 404 page. I’m using the twentyten theme and bp-themplate-pack plugin.May 25, 2011 at 9:46 am #112992In reply to: Importing Users

ParticipantIs there anything similar we could run as a cron job. So we could synchonize Buddypress with an external database?

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterThis is caused by your customisation, so I can’t offer a magic wand. The error means BuddyPress is expecting that bbPress has loaded and is trying to use it, but in fact it hasn’t been loaded. This is almost certainly an incorrect path somewhere.

ParticipantIn order for your users to register sites, you need to enable Multi-site. Once that’s done, you should be able to go into the Network Admin menu in the top right corner. From there, Settings on the Left has a Registration Settings area to Allow New Registrations. The available radio buttons allow you to decide whether your users can register Sites. This also enables the “Create A Blog!” option in the BuddyBar along the top.
On the root site (where buddypress is installed I assume), I would leave the General Setting as subscriber. Your users will be Admin on their own blogs, but you don’t want them messing about with your root blog.

Member@mercime Registration works normally in WordPress, as well as on a clean staging site with all the same plugins.

MemberSame here! I’d love to be able to use the great functionality of WordPress Users along with Buddypress and am quite surprised that I’m not seeing how to do this yet. I’d like to hear from others.

Participant@BuiltbyKids @Roenok deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins. How’s registration on bare WP install?

ParticipantHere’s the 100% working solution!!! thanks to John
1 – Delete your group.. doing the other way around is impossible for non-developers.
2 – Create a the new group..
STEP 1 add title and description ( title will be used as the group slug )
STEP 2 ( DO NOT SAVE SETTING AS IS!! I REPEAT DO NOT!!!! ) here’s what to do.
in step 2 ((un-check)) the Enable discussion forums, and then check it again.. and THEN save settings..
Step 3 avatar bla bla.. but the thing is
it’s solved!How it works!
the problem is stupidly simple.. that in some times.. ( not all buddypress installations for some weird reason either plugin conflict or a script timing error…
the check of enable forums is saved as “null” instead of 0/1 imagine it as a multiple choice radio button..
as long as you didn’t either.. it’s unselected.. but once you click.. it’s always 1 of the both and can’t be null…
Why is this happening? even WPMU and BPMU geniuses couldn’t solve it for 2 years now ^__^’>

ParticipantAWESOME DUDE!!! You figured it out while we developers try to figure why the topic is not posting.. the issue was in the GROUP – forum linking that should. be initiated in the first settings made..
Here’s the more detailed 100% solution!!

KeymasterAre you on BP 1.2.8? I think we may have fixed this in trunk, it rings a bell. Best to report it on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ please so we can check it out. Let us know version numbers of WP/BP that you are using at the moment.
