MemberThis code works on my WP 3.0.4 Multisite, BP 1.2.7 install, but unfortunately it breaks my chat function. I use cometchat for buddypress, and as soon as applying this code in bp-custom.php in the plugins folder, cometchat breaks (does not show up at all). Any idea what can be causing this?

ParticipantIf you installed bbPress forums via BuddyPress > Forums Setup – https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/buddypress-forum/
Or, https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/using-an-existing-bbpress-installation/

MemberGotta love GF.
Use the code below in your WP or BP theme functions.php file to tie a specific form to a custom post type.
Remember to set the form[“id”] to the id of the GF in the backend and then the slug of the CPT in the appropriate place below and that form will be tied to add posts to the CPT.`
add_filter(“gform_post_data”, “update_post_type”, 10, 2);
function update_post_type($post_data, $form){if($form[“id”] == ‘1’){
$post_data[“post_type”] = “custom-post-type”;
}
return $post_data;
}

MemberYeah, I thought it was that easy too. I took out that line of code in the member/single/home.php but the sidebar still shows up for some reason. I actually went in and took out that line of code for the member/single/index.php and for a few other files but the side bar is still showing up. I am running the buddypress template pack if that helps and I’m using my own custom theme.

ParticipantHi! Bit of an old thread I know, but is there still no way to do this other than:
a) hacking the core with the diff @simonwheatley kindly posted
b) Hiding the button in the template, which technically leaves the functionality in placeJust had a look at the trunk and there still doesn’t seem to be anything there like this. Would have thought a lot of people would be after it!

MemberNot sure, but it is probably done in the Buddypress menu.
Buddypress – General Settings – Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts? YES
and/or
Buddypress – Component Setup – Activity Streams: Allow users to post activity updates and track all activity across the entire site. NOFebruary 17, 2011 at 4:00 am #105605In reply to: Changing “Join Group” to “Follow Group”

ParticipantWell you could replace
`
case “Who’s Online Avatars”:
return $translations->translate( “Who’s Online…” );
break;
`
for
`
case “Join Group”:
return $translations->translate( “Follow” );
break;
`
in the example in the link
but as join appears quite a lot of times in buddypress, in different combinations, it might be better just to add your own language file….February 17, 2011 at 3:41 am #105602In reply to: Changing “Join Group” to “Follow Group”

MemberI dunno, there should be a chunk of code that is telling buddypress to display the sidebar for the profile page. Or, there should be a chunk of code that would get rid of the side bar for the profile page. I’ll have to skim over that article. You should just be able to use that “full page” template but I’m not even sure where to modify this section. I think it’s under members-profile-profile.php but I could be wrong.

MemberHello, I am new in the site. It took me a while but I found a solution for the autocomplete feature, but the problem is that it can only be fixed changing a Buddypress core file, and that’s not the way. Anyway here is how I did it (found the code in this forum, don’t remember where exactly, so I am not the author of the code I am sharing, sorry about that). In the file “wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-messages/bp-messages-cssjs.php”:
Line 37, the original code: ( Comment it )
`var acfb =
jQuery(“ul.first”).autoCompletefb({urlLookup:’root_domain . str_replace( ‘index.php’, ‘wp-load.php’, $_SERVER ) ?>’});`Paste this code right after the previous line:
`var acfb = jQuery(“ul.first”).autoCompletefb(
{urlLookup:’root_domain . ‘/wp-load.php’; ?>’}
);`It works for me with the latest version of Buddypress (1.2.7) and with the Friends feature enabled. My question is if it would be possible to include this in the latest Buddypress version so the autocomplete feature works out-of-the-box. I thought it didn’t work for me because I was using a custom buddy theme, but I tested it on a clean install with the default theme and it is broken when you first install it. I think that this way it would work from scratch. Probably you have been already told about this, sorry If I am being repetitive, and thank you for reading !

ParticipantI hope you’ve also read up on creating and using a child-theme rather than editing bp-default. Makes updating BP a lot easier!

MemberThis seems like its some sort of rewrite issue – does anyone have an example of what my .htaccess file should look like? I noticed in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-admin/includes/defaults.bb-htaccess.php there are a bunch of rewrite rules, none of which are in my .htaccess currently.
Then I ask why does everything else work if they don’t have the rewrite rules either, so I don’t think this is the problem. I’m trying to pinpoint the issue but always end up back at square 1…

ParticipantAlso I’ve used the default theme and to edit the (required) to something more like (required, but fake is fine) is in the `/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/register.php` file.
Again thanks Sofian and pcwriter! Made my day!

/* Inherit the default theme adminbar styles */
@import url(adminbar.css );Not much has changed. This time the Admin Bar is now not showing right on the WP Dashboard as well as the site.
I hope that’s right now

ParticipantAnd you have installed the Suffusion BP template pack plugin and gone through that process, checked permalink settings, or at least revisted the permalink page to force a refresh; any other issues with links?
