    hello,
    i am running buddypress 1.2.3 (also the latest) and wp 2.9.2 , and there also problems with the multiselectbox.
    It ist not possible for users to save the content of the list in the profile, but it is possible to select more then one item in the list.

    the result is: it does not , what it should do ? — the multiselectbox is not usable for websites.

    what about phpbb 3.0 with wp – united maybe thats one source that may allow us to integrate bp into phpbb3. Yes I dont see it as some thing that can be pulled off in one week but atleast backing that we dont start from zero. I would say vb but that cost money plus bp and phpbb3 as one will blow vb out of the water for good.

    Strange… In both cases if I change the rules (379 and 427), is this the result:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in betawordpresswp-contentpluginsbuddypressbp-blogs.php on line 379
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in betawordpresswp-contentpluginsbuddypressbp-blogs.php on line 427

    I have also as before changed the rule In buddypress/bp-blogs/bp-blogs-classes.php
    if ( !(int)$wpdb->get_var( $wpdb->prepare( “SELECT DISTINCT public FROM {$wpdb->base_prefix}blogs WHERE blog_id = %d”, $blog_id ) ) )
    in
    if ( $wpdb->get_var( $wpdb->prepare( “SELECT DISTINCT public FROM {$wpdb->base_prefix}blogs WHERE blog_id = %d”, $blog_id ) ) < 1 )

    If you want users to have blogs, then you should use WP MU. Also, certain plugins only work with WPMU or WP. So, that should be part of the decision making process too. Otherwise, both of them will work.

    I am having the same issue, but normal users can not upload either, when I recieve the following error “Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in C:Webspacepack119.netwwwwp-contentpluginsbuddypressbp-corebp-core-avatars.php on line 292” when I go to upload an image. I have WordPress 3.0-beta2-14729 and Buddypress 1.2.3 revision 3015

    Line 292
    $bp->avatar_admin->image->url = str_replace( WP_CONTENT_DIR, BP_AVATAR_URL, $bp->avatar_admin->image->dir );

    @Boone Gorges, well I do have the same problem in BuddyPress 1.2.3 . I can find the rule in /bp-blogs/bp-blogs-classes, but……
    the file bp-activity (in the root of BuddyPress) changed so much, that i don’t know where to find the rules like you’ve discribed.
    Will you help me again? Or maybe you know if there is a plugin for it?

    With regards Anja (afoka)

    Streamlined member management should have been a core feature of Buddypress. Thanks for picking this up.

    @boonebgorges thanks. Please let me know once you do, I am happy to be your first donator for that plugin ;)

    In the meantime, I will commence hacking.

    Cheers.

    Icons thumb_up.png and thumb_down.png are both red.
    Make thumb_up.png green.

    Terrific plugin! Using BuddyPress Links 0.4.1 (with BuddyPress 1.2.3, WPMU 2.9.2). Some feedback:

    Frontend:

    – When viewing a link in the Links tab, the A tag of the external link icon needs a target=”_blank”.

    – Would be nice to have “Report Broken Link” and “Flag as Inappropriate” buttons for each link (or may be simply “Report” to save space, and it popups to “Report Broken Link” and “Flag as Inappropriate”). Then have that status show up in the Manage Links page as two additional columns. And also have a way of filtering and showing just broken or inappropriate links in the Manage Links report. And also have a way to clear status. Perhaps record user who reported the status (in case that user is falsely reporting and should be banned).

    Backend:

    – Instead of 3 entries in the BuddyPress dashboard menu (i.e.: BuddyPress Links / Manage Links / Edit Categories), have only one entry “Links”. Then divide the admin page into tabs: Settings, Links, Categories, Support, About.

    – The “Search Links” box and the “Search Categories” box (on the Manage Links and Edit Categories pages, respectively) are not in the same vertical location. “Search Links” box is above the heading, “Search Categories” is below the heading.

    – Disable the “Delete” buttons if no Links/Categories selected to delete.

    – When doing a search (Search Links / Search Categories), add a “Show all Links” / “Show all Categories” button/link to clear the search criteria.

    Manage Links page:

    – Make all the A tags (Details / Owner / Edit) have target=”_blank”.

    – Link the link avatar to the destination URL (with a target=”_blank”).

    – If hover over a link avatar, show full size image in floating popup (like a tooltip).

    Settings:

    – Have a setting to enable/disable rel=”nofollow”.

    – Have 3 checkbox settings to hide a link if it: (1) goes below a specified negative rating (e.g.: -10); (2) is flagged inappropriate a specified number of times; (3) reported broken a specified number of times. The link’s owner would still see the link but with a warning.

    – Have a setting to specify what avatar to show if none specified. First radio box would be “default avatar”, following by radio boxes to select screen snapshot thumbnail from the various snapshot website services.

    You’ll have to add the links to your header.php nav menu; compare it to the BP-default theme’s header.php. Future versions of BuddyPress, i.e. version 1.3 onwards, should remove this step.

    Philo,
    I think you’ll enjoy some of the features of the BP Links plugin too. The way the videos pop out is awesome. A little more organization of the links and it’s basically what you want I think.

    Just installed it thanks! So I’m ready for it if you update the plug in @r-a-y. If you disable it by default can you give instructions for turning it on? It would be very useful for us video types to have a feature like that in our profiles. I see it used on a lot on sites like @pcwriter mentioned. Really the more places you can place video the better. Especially embedded video ; )

    bpGroups is not needed now that bbPress is integrated into BP forums. Delete the plugin files, then go to Dashboard > BuddyPress > Forum Setup to set up forums.

    @r-a-y

    My site is geared toward a community of folks recovering and helping others recover from addiction. I think they would find it kind of cool to be able to post a video intro of themselves in their profiles. :-)

    @pcwriter – Doesn’t work for profiles at the moment. I guess I could look into adding x-profile support, though I’ll probably disable it by default.

    @r-a-y Yeah, I’ve tried all 3 solutions and no luck. My whole purpose was to restrict users from accessing the admin backend. So here’s a simple solution, this function must be added to the functions.php in your theme folder. Only admins can access the /wp-admin with this function.

    @Troy, try asking @kunal, though I don’t know what’s his progress with it.
