kunal17, did you contact the support of both hostgator and godaddy? If you go to wpmu forum you’ll find detailed answers and information as buddypress is just a plugin running on wpmu.
Perhaps you need to visit wpmu and read some documents there, to understand more about what wpmu does and buddypress does. That should give you clear definitions and directions when you face troubles in the future.
Has anyone tried installing buddypress and setting up wildcard subdomains using hostgator but having godaddy as the DNS provider?
How would this be done? Im pretty new at this. Have no idea what apache is
Hi, Magi,
I have reached the stage where I get the message “Doofus, you need more than one slide to have a slideshow”. This is after uploading 2 or 3 images to the image folder concerned. What’s next? Pls advise.
Hey, I changed the Allow new registrations options to another one and then switched back and now it seems to be working. I just tried to register a new user and the activation link came back fine. Thanks for your help guys. If the problems creeps up again Ill let you know.
I do have another question about the allow new registrations options over here https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2525
P.S. I did check the error log for the past couple of days for any reference to this error and didnt see anything. Infact, there don’t seem to be any errors with relation to the domain I am hosting BP on at all
Hi,
I am also relatively new to WPMU/Buddypress/bbPress collection but have been doing a fare bit of playing around and testing of late.
The following plugins have worked fine for me during testing. Note that I have installed “Plugin Commander” and activated each plugin through the PC interface…
– All in one SEO
– Ozh Admin Dropdown menu
Note that the testing was done on all the latest versions of each component.

I agree with JJJ – If removing those lines fixes it, leave it as is. But if you\’re still unhappy with the way something is working, you could try my integration tutorial.
I\’m assuming there\’s nothing important in your bbPress database yet since you said you wiped it all out and tried again. If this assumption is correct, start with a clean install of bbPress by deleting the forums/bb-config.php file. Also, drop the tables in your database that start with bb_
You can find the tutorial at http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/04/30/integrating-buddypress-10-wpmu-and-bbpress/
It was written for BuddyPress 1.0 but works exactly the same for RC2.
Good luck and if you fix it, please remember to let us know so we\’re not still trying to find a better answer for you.
How do I change the position of these 2 menus? I’d like to make both menus horisontal as on buddypress.org instead of vertical menus.
Is it even possible to add a custom menulink to either the User- and/or Optionbar, or is these menus fairly “locked”.
Last issue: I want to create a menu link/page like ‘Members’, ‘Groups’ and ‘Blogs’ with custom BP-template tags & loops in the site-menu. How to?
Thanks in advance.
This is my first time with Buddypress and WPMU. My previous experience has all been with regular WP. I use the following plugins to make life easier with my other regular blogs and I really miss them when working on Buddypress.
I know that I probably should post this in a WPMU forum but I am not sure that all WPMU plugins are compatible with buddypress.
Can anyone recommend alternatives to these plugins that would work with Buddypress?
1)All in one SEO (SEO)
2) Statpress Reloaded (Traffic Stats)
3) Add to any (Digg, Twitter, stumbleupon buttons)
4) Google Analyticator (Easily add google analytics code sitewide)
5) Google-sitemap-generator (create xml sitemaps)
6) ozh-admin-drop-down-menu (More efficient dashboard)
7) Redirection (To strip www)
Theme test drive (to help with customization)
Also, if you have tried one of the above directly with your WPMU buddypress installation and it has worked that would be great too.

Hi! I am just-completed translation crosss Vietnamese of buddyprees 1.0. Absences inevitable certainty suffer owing to leveling of very evil English language own. you can download it http://cid-2889a6d6f18e0a41.skydrive.live.com/embedrowdetail.aspx/For%20MuWordpress/buddypress-vi%7C_VN.zip

John, thanks for trying to help, I didn’t upgrade buddy press, well I did, but then just started from scratch with fresh install of wordpressmu 2.7.1 and installed buddypress and then installed theme, upgraded theme by modifying all the files directed to.
WordPress and bbPress use several cookies to ensure your identity across all directories and areas that are important to the applications. When those cookies are out of alignment, things start working strangely like you describe.
The best thing is to check the cookies that your site is dropping, review the information inside them (typically with Firefox) and see if there are any places that are obviously incorrect or pointing to the wrong locations. Then, you use those global variables to adjust the settings back into place.
This is one of those bugs that’s difficult to diagnose, difficult to direct you to a fix, and hard to explain where to even start.
It’s also PIVOTAL that all of your separate applications (WPMU, BP, bbP) are all correctly installed/upgraded to begin with. If you’ve never gotten to a point where they were playing nice together in the first place, it will be extremely hard to figure out what’s wrong.
What is the best way to begin customizing BuddyPress themes so that they can be compatible with future WPMU & Buddypress version changes? And without having to make those changes again after every version change?
Can child themes be created like in regular WP? If so, please point me to a good resource. I have been customizing regular WP themes for my blogs for a couple of months using child themes and its been great.
The documentation/codex area provides a ton of documentation that can help you with all of these things, but there is no magic button you can press to make this happen.
There are dozens of functions and loops that need to be installed and addressed on several files and themes to make all of BuddyPress work the way it does. All we can do is document them for you, and let you give it a try yourself. It’s up to the growing audience of BP developers to start creating themes for 1.0, and that will eventually happen, I guarantee it.
If you’re in over your head and desperate for a theme asap, it may be time to hire someone to help you out. If you’re not looking for custom functionality and simply want a revamped BP theme, I might suggest joining the WordPress developers mailing lists and asking some WP professionals for assistance. Otherwise right now we’re pretty lenient about users asking for specific requests here (meaning we will lock the topic but we won’t delete it or spam it.)
http://wtf-ever.net — a blog network for my friends and I. I just put up the site yesterday, and I’m still working on a better, more customized layout. It’s wonky, but it’s a work in progress.
Hi
I have bought some great premium wordpress themes and I want to upgrade one to use for Buddypress 1.0 post RC2 release. I can use the skeleton for the members profile.
What I need are the hooks to turn a wordpress theme into a Buddypress theme.
I think this was available for RC1 but with the changes to RC2+ we will need the updated hooks.
I have searched for this but can’t seem to find it.
Any suggestions.
Regards
Mark

You also have to change the CSS file (base.css) so that it \\\”knows\\\” how large your logo is … I changed mine to be slightly taller than the stock logo for BuddyPress. Here is the code and what I did … this is just below the comment for HEADER:
#header {
padding: 25px 20px;
}
#header h1 a {
text-indent: -999em;
background: url(../images/logo.gif) top left no-repeat;
overflow: hidden;
width: 214px;
height: 55px;
display: block;
float: left;
Try that and see if it works. Good luck!
Ok, I did find an error_log file in my base domain’s directory. I am trying to parse through that but its been tracking for weeks and I have 5 running addon domains so a lot of info. I will try to find anything relavent to the buddypress domain and post it here.
Removing fix, but don’t u need these lines at all? I had attempted to integrate bbPress before, but it wasn’t working, so I remove bbPress altogether. Is this why this is a problem? How to fix?

I am new to BuddyPress, I have been using it all of about three hours and I have decided to try to alter the skeleton theme just as a learning exercise. I say that in hopes that many of you will forgive the newbie-like lack of information.
So in looking through the skeleton theme I noticed something strange.
I am wondering why the ‘Activity’, ‘Profile’, ‘Wire’, and ‘Friends’ items do not work from the optionsbar?
Hello,
I have upgrade 1.0RC2 to final 1.0 buddypress, but when I try to visit random member, instead of getting random member profile, I see the alphabetical list of members, but it never random this way either. Is this a bug? How to fix? Thanks…
Cool. I thought I wasn’t going mad.
I’ll stop bothering you Andy so you can make more cool stuff.
Jeff, I tried installing Nicola’s plugins on a clean BP installation but some of them seem to break my plugins page and then make the database dirty, so I’m unable to reinstall them again without plugins functionality breaking again.
I’m gonna wait until his work is a little bit more stable.
As the first step in helping you solve this issue, please go back and read the section entitled “Upgrading the Theme files” in the first post of this thread and verify that you have taken the proper steps.
WillPCG-
Okay a few additional questions:
- Are you logging into WPMU’s backend as the site administrator, and not just as a user with administrator privileges?
- You’ve mentioned 404 erros in your other thread. Are there any errors in your log files? If so, what are they?
- Did you go to “BuddyPress > General Settings”, re-select the member theme, and then hit save? Do this even if the theme is already selected.
