Topic: smtp plugin?

One of the biggest email service provider (in my country) doesn’t like emails which are not send through smtp. So my question is if there is a working smtp plugin available for wordpress+mu & buddypress?

Hi All

Just wanted to know, but instead of calling it http://www.example.com/blogs using Buddypress, can it be http://www.example.com/videos? All I want to do is change the name that appears in the address bar when the blogs section is being shown, as my site uses the blogs section for videos instead.

Hello everybody,

I’d like to modify the left and center widgets’ widths in the Buddypress Home Theme. Preferably, I want my left widget to be about 25px narrower, and my center widget about 25px wider. The right widget is fine.

I’m trying to find the widths in the CSS but I must just be looking in the wrong spot.

I am using a plugin that makes all of my new blog signups an ‘editor’ of their own blog. I want to use Buddypress and have all of the widgets the same for all of my new blogs, so they look the same. Is there a way to do this so I don’t have to set up each blog’s widget positions as it’s created? I can’t imagine every Buddypress install out there gives their users admin access to change the templates? Clearly I must be doing something wrong.

Have managed to add the twitter widget into the home page. I will be adding a box around it with something like “Follow us on twitter”

Just a heads up – in the latest trunk r1211+ the folder name for BuddyPress themes has changed.

OLD:

/wp-content/member-themes

NEW:

/wp-content/bp-themes

Member themes was confusing, as BuddyPress themes control more than just the member profile. It also brings it into line with the naming convention for plugins. If you upgrade to 1211+ then you should be able to simply rename the folder. There were no actual theme changes.

Hi,

I am new to buddypress, but I am sure I will become old to buddypress someday. This whole thing is really great.

I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not multiple wires are allowed. I would want users to be able to have multiple wires, and then allow other users to pick and choose which wires they want to subscribe to.

I noticed a user can have more than 1 blog, so why not more than one wire? If this is possible I would look into modifying the wire more to suit my needs.

never mind, i discovered the relevant code under bp_core_add_nav_item in the bp-xprofile.php, bp-friends, etc. … just edited this:

bp_core_add_nav_item( __(‘Profile’, ‘buddypress’), $bp->friends->slug );

to this:

bp_core_add_nav_item( __(‘Identity’, ‘buddypress’), $bp->friends->slug );

good luck if anyone else has the same issue

Hello,

I’ve been working on building a custom buddypress theme for my install at http://www.prosthes.us and I would like to be able to alter the names of the various options offered in the userbar and optionsbar, so that rather than saying: “activity”, “profile”, “blogs”, “wire”, etc. it reads something like “monitoring”, “identity”, “confessions”, etc. this is for an art project reflecting on the use of design in social networking sites, and I would like to be able to have control over the way in which certain features are labeled. does anyone know where in the php, either in the bp-core file or elsewhere that the echo is defined for the userbar and optionsbar labels? this would be a huge help. thanks

I still have the problem with the widget and RC-1 on my site in french : http://clermontois.net/

I take the last bp-core.php in trunk but the BP widget still doesn’t appear. Some widgets appear but not those from buddypress combo. How to solve that ?

Hi, I’m having this exact problem. I already have a number of user blogs operating properly. I have a main website with content, so my blog network was installed under the folder “blogs”. Everything else for BuddyPress works fine until I upload the blogs plugin. (bp-blogs.php and folder “bp-blogs”) Is there any other way around this besides reinstalling my MU files in a different folder? It may be a 30 minute job for people experts, but I’m not in that category. I imagine this could be a problem for many users who simply chose the subfolder “blogs” for their MU installation. This effects not just my home blog, but all user blogs already on the network include this path. Is there something in the bp-blogs.php plugin that can be modified to change this behavior? Thanks!

Not sure if this has been mentioned… but the page titles for Groups get cut off with “[…]”

I understand the space issue for the buddypress-member theme, but cutting off the title tag is unecessary and probably not so SE friendly. Can the Group full name be in the title tags? Or possibly an admin setting for truncating Group names to certain character length?

a) to have a profile (person) with sub-profiles (the pets)

b) only show the sub-profiles on the front-end

I don’t have any errors in my error log for the past two days. Is there maybe an issue with me using the BuddyPress home theme in a subdomain? My root’s theme doesn’t have any customizations for BuddyPress (although I did add register.php, activate.php, plugin-template.php and sidebar-template.php to the themes directory).

It seems like everything works when I “add” the community subdomain to the links…but I don’t know why.

Edit: This even includes the register link…when I try domain.com/register, it redirects to a login screen, but when I use community.domain.com/register, it works perfectly! What is the secret magical power of the community subdomain?!

That makes sense, but my issue isn’t that my links are wrong…it’s that when I add register.php to my custom theme, the Sign Up link takes me to “http://domain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://domain.com/register” instead of just “http://domain.com/register .” All my links point to the /register screen, but it just redirects to the standard WP login screen instead of the register page.

Hello,

I’m using buddypress to setup my college alumni network. Our college requires a detailed search on profile. For example –

Profile has following fields: Name, Branch, Year, Graduation Percentage etc.

I want to be able to search for [Name+Branch] or [Name+Year+Graduation Percentage] etc. Ideally I’d love to have a search engine that offers checkboxes for each field and a detailed report to be generated on the search results.

I hope I’m clear in stating my question. Is there a search engine available? If not, how to go about creating a plugin {can anyone do it? I bet it will be very useful!}.

Iâ€™ve reuploaded the file (you see Beta 2 in the download link). Iâ€™ve removed site wide styling, in this way home theme and member are indipendent from each other and you can use my home theme and a different member theme and viceversa

There currently isn’t a way for one user to edit another users extended buddypress information, admin or otherwise.

Only way to do this at the moment would be through the database directly.
