    Hey there,

    Thanks for your reply.

I just tried this… I even changed the structure, saved, and changed it back to my current settings of: Day and name (http://totallymi.com/2011/07/26/sample-post/)

    1. Which version of WordPress are you running? 3.2.1
    2. Did you install WordPress as a directory or subdomain install? Totallymi.com
    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory? Root
    4. Did you upgrade from a previous version of WordPress? If so, from which version? 3.2
    5. Was WordPress functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress (BP)? e.g. permalinks, creating a new post, commenting. Not an issue with WordPress (Yes)
    6. Which version of BP are you running? Updated to 1.2.9 last night
    7. Did you upgraded from a previous version of BP? If so, from which version? Whatever version was used a month or two ago, downloaded from WP Plugins site.
    8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? If so, which ones?
    Akismet | Version 2.5.3
    BuddyPress | Version 1.2.9
BuddyPress Activity Comment Notifier | Version 1.0.3
BuddyPress Activity Plus | Version 1.2
BuddyPress Activity Stream Bar | Version 1.3.2
BuddyPress Backwards Compatibilty | Version 0.6
    BuddyPress Gifts | Version 1.1
BuddyPress Live Notification | Version 1.0
BuddyPress Template Pack | Version 1.1.3
BuddyStream | Version 2.1 | By Peter Hofman | Visit plugin site
    CubePoints | Version 3.0.3
CubePoints Buddypress Integration | Version 1.9.2
    Dynamic Widgets | Version 1.4.1
    Google +1 | Version 1.0.4
    GTranslate | Version 1.0.26
    Sidebar Login | Version 2.3.2
    WordPress e-Cards | Version 0.1
    WP-DownloadManager | Version 1.60
    WP-Memory-Usage | Version 1.2.1
    WP-Polls | Version 2.61
Zazzle Store Gallery | Version 1.0
    9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes? Arras 1.5.1.1 custom
    10. Have you modified the core files in any way? Just theme related files
    11. Do you have any custom functions in bp-custom.php? No
    12. If running bbPress, which version? Or did your BuddyPress install come with a copy of bbPress built-in? Don’t think so
    13. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files. No errors
    14. Which company provides your hosting? 1and1 (Business Package)
    15. Is your server running Windows, or if Linux; Apache, nginx or something else? Linux/Apache

Here is some additional information — I don’t really think that it will make much difference — but if so, awesome.

Side note, I did edit my theme’s function.php to hard code in the address of http://totallymi.com but it did not change the fact that the BP activity stream is redirecting to the homepage vs the appropriate member’s stream.

    Thanks!

Are you using the default theme? I say this as in the header there is a search along with on the member pages. Perhaps you can confirm what theme and maybe provide a link so I can take a look?

There is the now outdated BuddyPress mobile plugin.

    https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-mobile

However perhaps a different take and you could look at using a responsive theme that caters for multiple devices there was recently one released. I will add I’ve not used it but heard good things.

    http://themeloom.com/themes/xi-theme/

Also you may want to check the repo out for anyone doing that for free (https://buddypress.org/extend/themes/) – I seem to recall a free one was in works which is really cool.

Sorry, I’ve made a child theme for the default buddypress theme. But the same happens when I activate the default buddypress theme too. The site is being developed locally at the moment, so I can’t give a link.

I just wondered if anyone had ever come across anything similar.

Are you using a theme or a custom theme for this? Would help in narrowing down the issue to also have a link to your site – it’s a little hard to give a response otherwise without knowing everything.

I have a similar problem. I’m using WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.3. If I use the default BP theme my main (and only) blog shows. However, if I use other themes, I am not able to get my posts to appear on my “Blog” page.

In the interim, I have put “Featured Category”, “Recent Posts” and “Recent Comments” on the sidebar of pages and posts on the front page to allow people access to blog posts.

The thread above is no longer there.

    https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/nothing-appearing-under-my-blogs

I’m running WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.3. I have a different issue in the sense that my main blog is the only blog. The main blog shows in the default BP theme. However, it does not show on any of the other themes.

It is not showing even if I put my Settings->Reading->Static Page->Post Page is the “Blog” page.

How did you solve or fix this issue? Can you kindly explain?

@acustica = genius! this worked for me, thanks so much!

I hate all those “deactivate all your plugins” and “only use standard theme” answers — they are not really helpful but guaranteed to waste your time.

What you offer is a fix that works — at least for me with WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.2.9 — let’s see what the fixed version 1.3 brings

Hi Mercime–I just gave your suggestion a go and with only WordPress and Buddypress running with the bundled Buddypress default theme, the avatar upload error still occurred… Do you happen to know if there is any server-side configuration that needs to be in place for the avatar uploads in specific? I’ve also asked our web hosting company to look into the error as well to see if they could see anything on the server side… It’s quite peculiar, because all the other media upload areas work just fine…

Is this a theme specific to buddy press or are you referring to my WordPress theme? Where do I change it? And if it is theme specific, where in the theme could it have been altered? Thanks for the help!

Could be a theme issue. Change to bp-default theme and see if same behavior occurs.

Have you checked whether it is a plugin or theme conflict by deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and changing to bp-default theme?

You are editing the wrong file.
If you have buddypress and buddypress template pack and still the buddypress files are shown but not with your theme layout, then do the following steps:

go to your theme location: wp-content/themes/ yourtheme

do you find there the following files & folders
activities, blogs, forum, members, groups, registration

in each of them, you will find either home.php or index.php in particular.
these file will have the code like

    get_header()
    ………
………..’this is the code segment you need to replace’
if you find any extra code in between this two lines, save them in a notepad. After doing the following steps, bring those extra codes ‘if any’, back in this segment after replacement.
    ……….
    div id=”content”

you need to replace this code segment with that of your theme,

    now open wp-content/themes/ yourtheme / index.php

    and copy the code segment

    php get_header()
    ………
    ………..
    ……….
    div id=”content” class=” …………………………………………………….

Paste this code segment to the area where mentioned above.

Which theme? Do non-BuddyPress widgets work? Have you tried removing the BuddyPress widgets from the widget area, and adding them again?

Rename plugins folder in server, then rename active WP theme so system will automatically change theme to twentyeleven theme.

@lunaix you should post at plugin dev’s site with details about your install – might be some conflict with another plugin or theme or something else, Tested the plugin on BP 1.3-bleeding and later in BP 1.2.9/WP 3.2.1 and it’s working great.

@careercreatrix Before there was WP Multisite, there was WPMU(multi-user) a long story https://wordpress.org/news/2010/06/thelonious/

== 1) Do i have to “create a group” in order for people to be able to join my discussion forum? I just want one plain old discussion board, with multiple topics. ==

Yes, at this time you would have to create a group and be a member of that group in order to post forum topics. If you only want the forums without the social networking feature, bbPress the plugin is in beta3 https://bbpress.org/blog/

== 2) It says you have to have registration enabled, so people can register. How do I make sure it’s enabled? ==

Go to dashboard Settings menu > General > Membership – check “Anyone Can Register”

== there isn’t a “Create a Group” tab when I click on “Groups” in the top bar, ==

You will find the “Create a Group” link if you go to your site’s /groups/ directory, it was never included in BP Admin Bar. So if your WP is installed in domain root i.e. http://yoursite.com/, you go to http://yoursite.com/groups. Beside the page title, Groups Directory, you’ll find the link to create a group in the bp-default theme. Or, you can go directly to the URL
http://yoursite.com/groups/create/step/group-details/ – replace yoursite.com with your domain name.

Are you still on WP V.3.1.4 and Buddypress V1.2.8 or have you upgraded? Change to bp-default theme and see if same behavior applies.
