    Hey guys,

I’m running the WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.5 with bbP 2.0.2.

In the profile page and under forums tab, I’m getting this message:

Sorry, there were no forum topics found.

I’ve setup categories and forums/sub-forums correctly and have test topics and test replies in it to see if that would show up but it doesn’t. I just get the above message.

    How can I fix this?

    Hi Everybody,

i’ve set up group forums, then created a group and added a forum topic in this group. Works perfectly so far…

My problem here is, that i get a message “sorry, there were no forum topics found” when i hit the “forums”-tab to see the “forums directory”

This only happens when the group is set to non-public

May be i’am wrong, but i would expect that i see the forum topics of groups where i am a member of. Even if the group is non-public.

As an admin-user this is the case.

    – I did a basic installation of wordpress/buddypress with no other plugins so far.
    – Versions are latest as of today.
    – fresh subdomain install
    – shipped standard theme
    – lamp

If anyone can help with this I would really appreciate it.

    Regards,
    tdoubleu

@Protesta all forums are enabled in my groups, so there should be another problem for this. What did you do ?

Ok. Here is what I did and it works. Before I give you the long version. First, in each group click on admin. then click on settings. Make sure the enable forum is checked and save settings. I will check back tomorrow. If this did not work for you then reply and I will give you the long answer as to everything I did to get it working.

attempted a fresh separate install of BBPress. Version 2.0.2 does not present a bb-config.php file to direct the integration to. additionally it adds about 3 lines of code to your .htaccess file. I am back at square one. HELP! :)

I am facing the same issue except I also get the response that forum has not been set up for this group.

I attempted to access the bbpress install directly, only to land on blank pages.

Anyone know the answer to this one. Perhaps I should just uninstall, delete bb-config, install separately select use existing installation.

Hi guys/girls…seriously pulling my hair out…I’m trying to post a new topic in a group and I receive the following error “This group does not have a forum setup yet.” with a large red square background on it. I hen try posting from the main Forum Directory area and receive this error

Sorry, there were no forum topics found.
    Create New Topic:
Please pick the group forum where you would like to post this topic.

I’ve tried searching everywhere and was hoping to find something with the power of Google but even that failed me….

Anyone that can help I will be unbelievably grateful as this is the only element not working on my site.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

    Hello fellow buddy press friends,

I have been trying for months to get a site up with buddypress. I originally set up a vanilla forum with single sign on which took me a while but got it working. I switched from Vanilla to Buddy Press for a few big reasons. My problem is since installing buddy press I can never create a forum topic in a group no matter what I try.

I have read through the codex, I have looked in the forums. I have deleted and uninstalled wordpress and buddypress. I am back to scratch. Before I add any theme or content I would love if anyone could give me some insight.

I have enabled group forums, created some test groups, but whenever I attempt to create a topic I get this

This group does not have a forum setup yet.
Sorry, there were no forum topics found.

I am so frustrated with this. Any help would be amazing. My site is here http://collegeofcatch.org/forums/

    Thank you for any responses

@remedy01 – You need to enable forums for the group. Go to that specific group’s > Admin > and check Enable forum

If you don’t mind, can you tell me where is your site hosted or what kind of set-up you have? It is pretty fast – my buddypress set-up runs much slower.

Thanks, Paul. I’ve deactivated bbPress but am still not able to create New Topics in Group Forums. I go into ‘Groups’ then choose ‘Forums’ and it says, ‘Sorry, there were no forum topics found.’

Then I choose ‘New Topic,’ enter the information, click ‘Post Topic,’ and get a red error bar stating, ‘This group does not have a forum setup yet.’

I’ve just updated from BP 1.2 to BP 1.5 (running WP 3.2.1) – on looking at each of my groups all of the forum topics have disappeared and I’m getting the message ‘Sorry, there were no forum topics found.’. If I try to add a new topic to any group I get a red error bar ‘There was an error when creating the topic’ but no more info.

    Has anyone come across this?
    Thanks in advance,
    N

i was getting the same error. “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.” on my site Funjog.Net
I just uninstalled all the plug ins and than i tried to post new forum topics and i was able to create new forums topics.
After creating some forum topics i installed and activate plug in again and everything was fine. Now i am able to post new forums topics and my plug ins are also activated.
So just uninstall all your plug ins and than try to create new forum topics.
Hope this will also work for you.

I get “There was an error when creating the topic” when the group is public, and “Sorry, there were no forum topics found” when I then click on “Forums.” If I switch settings to private/hidden, all the test forum posts reappear.

All Old Topics in the Forum Page is Gone

    Latest WP and BuddyPress

I have developing the site for over six months. Today, I just looking at forum page and there is “All Topic (0).” Huh? So at first I reinstall forums setup and refresh the forum page still no show but when I create a new group (Enable discussion forum) it show in the forum page “All Topic (1)” and “My Topic (1).

What is happens to all my old topic posts? And the “forum topic tags” on the sidebar mostly are “Sorry, there were no forum topic found” except one that I just created is found. Can the old topic posts and topic tags get it back in the forum page? What is causing the problem?

I am testing a theme Im making for the community and when I wanted to check the forums part of the theme, I came across a bug?

Its latest wp/bp, dl’ed them today and all default bp settings have been left in tact. eg: Disable global forum directory?: no
bbpress forums set up ran without errors and if i do select a group, the topic is created.

If I try and post a new topic, and dont select a group – I get redirected back to the forums index and no error message, just “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”

Strait after the message above, if I click on activity tabs, the red error message is there ( on the activity page ), “Please pick the group forum where you would like to post this topic.”.

Update: I see this error when tried to post new topic, even after closing the browser:

Sorry, there were no forum topics found.

    Thanks.

I am Having this same problem. I have a fresh WP/BP install and the “Disable global forum directory?” is set to no.
The forum tab shows up on the site but the page always says “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”
If I add a new topic and hit submit. the form submits and the page refreshes… but it still says “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”
    Did that topic disappear?

My site is public and I have only one group set up. If possible I would like to not have to bury the global forum in a group.

This is my first post to these forums, and I have spent considerable time over the past few days here looking for a solution to my very common problem: forum posting will not work on my site. After trying many of the solutions posted here in various threads, I still cannot post anything to forums. So…

What follows is a lengthy transcript of the very detailed process I took to troubleshoot the problem for myself and in accordance to the guidance I received in this forum. I would appreciate any help anyone can provide me:

    — I had a previous WordPress setup on my site http://www.its-your-move-org so I did this:

    1. Deleted WordPress from existing domain via Dreamhost One-Click Install “Manage Installed Applications” function.

    2. Deleted all remaining files associated with site via WebFTP.

    3. Installed WordPress with One-Click Install > custom installation > at my main http://its-your-move.org address. > I also chose the function “Automatically create database.”

    4. After successful WordPress install > From WordPress Admin Panel > Installed BuddyPress 1.2.7. plugin from plugin menu > Activated it.

    5. Under Settings menu > Permalinks > Updated permalink structure by choosing “Day and name” > Saved changes.

    6. Activated BuddyPress Default 1.2.7. theme from Manage Themes menu. (The theme that came up at the very beginning was Twenty Ten.)

    7. Went to BuddyPress Menu > Selected Forums Setup > Clicked “Set up a new bbPress installation” > Pressed “Complete Installation” > Received message: “All done! Configuration settings have been saved to the file bb-config.php in the root of your WordPress install.”

    8. Clicked on Settings menu > checked box “Anyone can register” > Saved changes

    9. Opened up new window and visited my website home page: http://www.its-your-move.org

    10. Clicked on “Groups” tab at top of page > On page 1. Details: Created “Test” Group; Group Description: “Test” > Click “Next Step” > On page 2. Settings: Made sure “Enable discussion forum” box was checked > Selected “This is a public group” under Privacy Options > Clicked “Next Step” > On page 3. Avatar: Did not upload avatar on following page > Clicked “Next Step” > On page 4. Invites: Clicked “Finish” after receiving message in orange: “Once you have built up friend connections you will be able to invite others to your group. You can send invites any time in the future by selecting the “Send Invites” option when viewing your new group.”

    11. The Home page for my new “Test” group was brought up automatically after clicking “Finish” on last page.

    12. Clicked on “Forum” in the light grey link bar. > “Post New Topic:” fields open with message at top in orange: “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”

    13. Entered this information in “Post New Topic:” Fields:

    Title: Test
    Content: Test
    Tags: Test

    14. Clicked “Post Topic” > Received two error messages on following page:

In red: There was an error when creating the topic
In orange: There are no posts for this topic.

    — So… I then attempted hnla’s solution in BP forums.

    15. From the page I received the two error messages > I clicked on “Admin” in the light grey link bar > Clicked on light-blue command “Group Settings” > unchecked “Enable discussion forum” box > Clicked “Save Changes” at bottom of page > Received green message: “Group settings were successfully updated.” > re-checked “Enable discussion forum” Box > Clicked “Save Changes” again > Received green message: “Group settings were successfully updated.”

    18. Clicked on “Forum” in the light grey link bar. > “Post New Topic:” fields open with message at top in orange: “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”

    19. Entered this information in “Post New Topic:” Fields:

    Title: Test
    Content: Test
    Tags: Test

    20. Clicked “Post Topic” > Received two error messages on following page:

In red: There was an error when creating the topic
In orange: There are no posts for this topic.

    — So… I checked if I could post anything directly through “Forums” tab

    21. Clicked on “Forums” tab at top of page > This opens up Group Forums Directory” > Received message in orange: “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”

    22. Clicked on “New Topic” grey box > Entered this information in “Post a New Topic:” Fields:

    Title: Test
    Content: Test
    Tags: Test
    Post in Group Forum: Test

    23. Clicked “Post Topic” > I was automatically returned to Group Forums Directory and again received this message in orange: “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”

    — So… I tried to re-install bbPress forums again

    24. From WordPress Admin Panel > Went to BuddyPress Menu > Selected Forums Setup > Received message: “bbPress forum integration in BuddyPress has been set up correctly. If you are having problems you can re-install” > Clicked “re-install” link > Clicked “Set up a new bbPress installation” > Pressed “Complete Installation” > Received message: “All done! Configuration settings have been saved to the file bb-config.php in the root of your WordPress install.”

    25. Returned to my website > Clicked on “Groups” tab at top of page > Selected “Test” group > Clicked on “Forum” in the light grey link bar. > “Post New Topic:” fields open with message at top in orange: “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”

    26. Entered this information in “Post New Topic:” Fields:

    Title: Test
    Content: Test
    Tags: Test

27.Clicked “Post Topic” > Received two error messages on following page:

In red: There was an error when creating the topic
In orange: There are no posts for this topic.

    — So… Checked some other things I heard about in the BP Forums:

    28. Through my WebFTP > I confirmed that file “bb-config.php” is located in the same place and level as “wp-config.php”

    — And this is where I decided to stop and ask for help.

I do not know much about programming or dealing with databases, but I suspect after all of these tests and trying other things on a different site that:

Somehow, the bbPress tables are not actually being created in the database where the WordPress tables are. I see no sign of the bbPress tables in the database when I examine the database via Dreamhost’s phpMyAdmin.

Again, I do not know that much about databases, but I do think this might be the root of my particular problem, seeing as how other people’s solutions have not worked. So…

Is there a way to just add the tables to my database?

And any other thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!
