well i’m fine moving it here. Everything on site works great except the ajax not refreshing. Oh and the email sign up link bug. Other than that Buddypress rocks!
From this thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1223
– If you upgrade from a previous version and are using your own custom theme, you will need to copy over the functions.php from the latest buddypress-home theme.
Try that Keith. It may be the problem. That is an issue for *all* wp themes that take the place of bp’s home theme.
@josswin, this is a known, recent issue with bp’s usage of a wpmu security mechanism.
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/519
That didnt work…I really have done nothing to the code the only thing I have modified is the css to make it look different. The only bp addons are the flickr and youtube plugins.
Wp plugins are share this and thats it. This did not work from the first time I installed buddypress so it could not have been something I did.
For a while now I have been playing around with Buddypress, and now I actually would like to list the friends of a logged in member on the main page.
For example when I log in with my user-account, I want maybe 12 random friends of mine to appear in a sidebar, about the same way as we can see our friends in our profile-page.
– Is there any way I can do this with the functions we allready have?
Thanks in advance!

I found the bp_login_bar() in the file /bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php on line 489. You could just edit this directly or add an optional parameter to this function.
Maybe this could be added as a feature of BuddyPress?
In the mu-plugins folder you find the buddypress activity plugin.
It has a subfolder called feeds.
Al three of them use
header(‘status: 200 OK’);
But it should be
header(‘http/1.1 200 OK);
It worked for me
Yes, when I click on a link in an email to accept a friend, I get the “Are you sure you want to do this?” message. The link in the email looks like this:
Accept the friendship request:

i need some help in understanding how buddypress handles form submissions. i am writhing a plugin and i cant get the form to submit to a page. im following how the wire is setup, but where there should be a form wire/post, there is none. how does the system know what to do when the user presses the submit button.
nicola has tinyMCE running on his site. I don’t remember if he has that as just a part of the theme or if it’s a plugin. Works great. Check it out at:
http://buddypressdev.org/
It actually doesn’t matter if you do it during installation or after… it turns out to be the same.
Have you seen this article:
http://bavatuesdays.com/integrating-wpmu-buddypress-and-bbpress/
It was extremely helpful with my setup and includes the video you mentioned, with some additional pointers. Also read the comment section for some addtional info.
Just make sure you have the latest versions of both and start off fresh. Follow the article I quoted and give that sigh of relief when you switch from WordPress MU to bbpress and see “Welcome admin!” on top instead of “Login”….
I’ve read everything I can find about BP and BBPress integration before I move forward to make sure I do it right… I’m still not clear on a few things….Bare with me here….
The trunk instructions (http://trac.buddypress.org/browser/trunk/bp-forums/installation-readme.txt) call to: ” – Leave “Add cookie integration settings” unchecked ” during installation of BBPress …… Whereas the standard BBPress / WP guides typically suggest checking this setting…. specifically’s Sam’s Video (http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/basic-integration-screencast)
I would prefer to follow the method laid out by Sam before actually doing the BuddyPress / BBPress integration as it makes the most sense to be in terms of understanding the process but am not sure if that will get me on the wrong track….
Any ideas or feedback?
My admin_bar at admin wordpress mu dashboard doesn’t translated, only de admin bar at buddypress area is translated.
Can you post this on trac so I remember to check it?
https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket (same login)
Where specifically, on which user actions? If it’s links in emails then this is a known issue, it’ll be fixed soon.
@awarner20 your problem with the email friendship requests is a bug. Can’t be solved with a one liner. Sorry. I did submit a workaround patch in trac though:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/519
It eliminates the problem by eliminating the problem. Lemme explain. When a user requests friendship an email is sent out to the destination user. The destination user is supposed to click the link and it automatically approves or rejects the request. Doesn’t work due to the fact that a security mechanism is being used to validate the process. The ‘nonce’ security scheme uses the originating user’s identity and some other stuff to come up with this ‘nonce’ key. The key is only valid when used by the originating user.
When the destination user clicks on the link the key is used but they are not the originating user. So the security check fails. Andy is aware of the problem. I just removed the automatic accept/reject links and used a link to the destination user’s friendship notifications page where it will have to be manually accepted or rejected.
users registered through buddypress = no problem (activity, profile, blogs…all working)
But, users added through WPMU (dashboard / site admin / users / add user) …are NOT working
When I add new users through WPMU….the user DOES get added, and I CAN see them in the “members” list, and they can login post, comment, etc….but….
When that user (who was added in WPMU only) does any activity… that does not display on their “activity” list (or blogs, etc)
is this a bug?
is there an easy fix?
Hi,
I have just set up WPMU and BuddyPress into a test environment to ensure that it is suitable for our requirements before making it live.
This installation is to possibly replace the installation which is based on standard WordPress (http://www.aquaristsonline.com)
I have quickly modified both the normal and member theme so that it matches the existing site layout however I have a quick question if possible.
At the top of the home page I have various tabs called Welcome, Who’s Online, Recent Posts, Site Activity, Members and Groups.
On the Welcome tab I will simply add some text however in the other tabs I am hoping to be able to call the relevant functions (as per the widgets) however I am not 100% sure how to do it or if it is even possible!
I have looked at the relevant code and I believe that the function can be called however is it possible to be able to limit the output. For example on the Who’s Online can this be limited to say 5?
The test environment is installed at http://www.fusebid.com/wpmu and I would be grateful of any replies which may assist me in this as I believe that this is a great extension to WPMU.
Thanks and regards,
Peter
Andy, I’m running the latest default themes from SVN but still having the _wpnonce error.
