    “For every forum, only the group’s members should have access to it, which works fine.” That is not working for me. Any idea what I missed? Anyone can access the group and it’s forum.

    I’m having trouble with usernames displaying funny on my forums: https://scapenotes.com/groups/africa/ for example “https://scapenotes.com/user/dirk/ created the group Garden Route” in stead of simply my ‘display name’. Why would this be happening? Thanks, Dirk

    I am using the most recent versions of WordPress and BuddyPress.

    Hi, I’ve been searching these forums for about 4 hours now.

    On my members page the background is light gray but all of the text, like the members names especially, are a real light yellow. I can not for the life of me figure out how to change those colors!

    Can anyone please point me in the right direction??

    THANK YOU

    I’m on version 9.x and I do have the Buddypress add-on for Memberpress.

    On my Buddypress Members page, there is an All Members count, a search box, a dropdown filter, and a list of members.

    The first problem is that the All Members count was is way higher than my current active Memberpress members. It appears to be virtually all MP members who ever signed up, active or otherwise.

    The second problem is that the list of members only includes people who have recently done something in Buddypress, and not those who have only done something in MP (such as login).

    The third problem is a search does not succeed unless the member has done something recently in buddypress.

    The last two problems go away if I set the dropdown to alphabetical, but the default seems to be Last Active. I guess the root of all these problems is that BP is not taking MP activities into account when determining BP activity. In other words, no integration there.

    Thanks for your help. Unable to find solutions in BP doc or forum, nor in MP docs. Also, MP support sends me to you, which does make sense.

    Somehow instead of my url for favorites, settings and messages, having the slug “forum” it now has “forum_trashed”. How do I fix that? (someone touched the site and deleted some pages but I rebuilt them now, Not sure if that was the cause)

    HI, I hope someone can help me. I have bbpress for our Forum which has bbPress Digest (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-digest/). The plug-in works great but we had to get BuddyPress in order to edit our user profiles. The combo of both is great, but we don’t want to have a group email digest, we want our clients to be able to change it individually like we can with bbPress Digest. I can’t find a way to show the bbPress Digest options (which is edited in the WordPress user profile.) Can someone help with either a solution or potentially look at our setup and suggest a solution?

    I finally got a lead on how to do this from the BuddyDev.com forum:
    https://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/adding-a-second-control-to-members-activity-loop/

    I actually ended up using a combination of filters similar to the ones at the bottom of that post, along with an override of buddypress/members/single/activity.php.

    I can supply more details, in the unlikely event that anyone actually reads this and wants them 🙂

    Am I the only one having a very difficult time to get a BuddyPress forum post to embed properly on Facebook. When I copy the url for a forum post and past it on Facebook, Facebook only gives the domain main link and say GROUPS.

    Anybody else have this issue?

    On my website I have several groups, each with its own attached forum and that forum may have subforums. My question is whether or not it is possible for those subforums to have their own, unique cover images? Right now they simply inherit the group cover image.

    Thanks…

    I’ve figured out the BuddyPress plugin is overloading my server. When I go live this will also affect SEO due to almost triple page load time, even on pages that aren’t BuddyPress related. I narrowed the issue down to a constant call of the admin-ajax.php page in WordPress. This can be turned off by the “Activity auto-refresh” under Options in BuddyPress’ settings. Once turned off, page load decreased significantly and it’s within Google’s acceptable load time. The problem with doing this, is users don’t get updates. They’d have to refresh the page to see updates and they’d have no idea when new updates were added.

    Is there anyway to fix this issue with this switch on? I’m overloading the shared hosting plan while not live and only three users active.

    I thought of one way that doesn’t fix the issue but gives the site owner more leeway. Instead of an on/off switch for the “Activity auto-refresh” setting, can there be a textbox for the site owner to enter refresh milliseconds? The on/off switch can still be present, but for those of us that need more control over this setting using a milliseconds value would give the user somewhat real time updates, meet Google’s page load requirements, and won’t overload shared hosting plans.

    Here’s what the site is running. I’d rather not give the site link out on an open forum and destroy my hosting plan.
    WordPress Version: 5.8.2
    BuddyPress Version: 9.1.1
    Hostinger Business Account and this is the only site on this account so far.

    Thanks,
    NicCrockett

    Hi everyone.
    I have been looking around the web for several days, but I have not found anything that satisfies me.. As the title suggests, I would like “my” users to have the ability to upload and use animated avatars.
    At the moment it is not possible because when a user tries to upload an animated gif, they are asked to crop it and there is no way to skip image cropping.
    Also the Gravatar service does not support animated avatars.. or so I have read around the web.
    As silly as it may seem, I find it highly limiting, speaking of user experience, not to be able to upload an animated avatar.
    Can someone help me?

    In case there is no way to load an animated gif without it being resized, is it possible to add a field in the front-end user’ profile where he can insert a link to an image like in the phpbb forums?

    my WordPress is updated to version 5.8.2
    my buddypress is updated to version 2.1.1

    Link to my site MRLab

    I don’t use child theme.

    In case I have created a duplicate topic, I apologize in advance.
    In my defense my English is not the best and I haven’t seen any other open topics about it.

    Thanks in advance to anyone who will help me and Merry Christmas to everyone!

    Hi!

    I have created two member types:

    • Moms
    • Volunteers

    I also use Woocommerce Subscriptions for giving access to our forum/private content.

    I was wondering if it’s possible to assign all subscribers to the “Moms” type automatically upon registering?

    My kindest regards,
    Johan

    I know they are two different plugins…. But they work well together and I can’t find the error myself, so I asked both here and at BBPress: The fact is, with the newer BBPress version, the Buddypress notifications regarding the forums no longer work properly, unfortunately.

    Here is a screenshot of a test and live version – in the English version you can see how it should be…

    Heyho. I have a major update jump with Buddy-/BB-Press so it was difficult for me to find out the error:

    Since BBPress version 2.6.7, the profile notifications regarding the forum and mantions are “undefined”. If I go back ones more – i.e. 2.6.6 – it works.

    is there a manual fix for this?

    best, neratashy

    Hi, can you advise how we set up a forum structure like the one on this site, with the forums on the left, and stream of all posts on the right? Our existing forum has just one stream with no categories. We’ve got into a long and expensive discussion with a developer about adding topic categories, but it strikes me, I could set it up like the buddypress community, and just call the ‘forums’ categories. Quite a beginner, so any pointers v useful. thanks

    BuddyBoss is not BuddyPress. Kindly contact BuddyBoss support or simply switch to BuddyPress and use a BuddyPress theme like WPLMS or Kleo.

    I think you are confused, forum by default do not have cover images. You have Group forums which have cover images coming form the group. The cover image should be enabled in groups from WP admin – Settings- BuddyPress – options

    Hello,

    New to the forum, been searching everywhere and I do not see this question asked anywhere.

    I am on:
    – WP 5.8.2
    – BuddyBoss Theme 1.8.1
    https://cnftcentral.io

    When groups/Forums are created By Members, the cover Photo for the Forum is missing…

    If you visit my site you will notice that all forums do have a cover photo but that’s because I went as an admin on the forum post and added the Featured Image manually. I really cannot go & add a Featured image each & every time a user starts a forum…

    Is there a way around this so the user cam apply a cover photo to, not only the group but, the forum as well? I really cannot figure this out, I have tried everything!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

    I am currently developing a website with many different groups and each has its own forum.
    I’m using bbpress to create these forums.
    For every forum, only the group’s members should have access to it, which works fine.
    The problem is that all of these group forums also have subforums but these can be accessed by anyone no matter which group they are in.
    in the forum settings itself, I can only choose between public, private and hidden and since all our users will be logged in anyway there is no difference between Public and private.
    Is there any way to also use the group restriction for subforums?

    Regards
    Gerry

    $defaults = array(
    ‘group_id’ => null,
    ‘creator_id’ => get_current_user_id(),
    ‘name’ => ”,
    ‘description’ => ”,
    ‘slug’ => ”,
    ‘status’ => $status,
    ‘enable_forum’ => 0,
    ‘date_created’ => bp_core_current_time()
    );

    Like this? I’ve changed it, but it’s still not creating the group.

    I wrote the following function, but i still can’t create a group. I’ve made sure that the function is getting called, so that is not the issue

    function start_a_new_group($profile_id, $status) {
    if ( !function_exists( ‘groups_create_group’ ) ) {
    require_once ‘/bp-groups/bp-groups-functions.php’;
    }

    $defaults = array(
    ‘group_id’ => $profile_id,
    ‘creator_id’ => get_current_user_id(),
    ‘name’ => ”,
    ‘description’ => ”,
    ‘slug’ => ”,
    ‘status’ => $status,
    ‘enable_forum’ => 0,
    ‘date_created’ => bp_core_current_time()
    );
    return groups_create_group($defaults);
    }

    Wordpress version 5.8.2
    Buddypress verion 9.1.1
    Theme is Twenty Twenty

    Any ideas?

    Hello,

    The site we’ve developed the client doesn’t want to have any of the forum topics or posts available to the public. I’ve tried a few plugins to try and fix this but none seem to work;

    bbPress Members Only
    BuddyPress Members Only
    Wbcom Designs – Private Community for BuddyPress

    Does anyone know how to completely lock down anything in the /forums/ part of the site so that only members can access?
