I’m about to post this in the trac, but since there are personal feeds, friend feeds and sitewide activity feeds, then why not have group activity feeds?
Just looked at the code in bp-activity.php to see how current activity feeds are done and it looks quite easy to extend activity feeds for public groups.
Private and hidden groups are another matter though and would require some sort of authentication when accessed from an external source… needs some investigation…
EDIT: Trac ticket made – http://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1341
I’m wanting to create a few special forums on our site that might go beyond the basics offered with buddypress.
I want to create a group that only members can post to, but anyone can view. this is between public and private. Is this possible?
Also, I want to create a group that will act more like a announcement list, where many people can join but only an admin can post to it.
any idea if that is possible, and if not, how I should go about doing it.
I wonder if someone is working on something like this:
Agenda plugin:
I’m thinking about an agenda for each user with a month/week/day view (showing available empty hours) with the ability to share it completely with a group (maybe a workgroup) and private (for user only) entries too.
I know that there’s a BP-Events plugin around, but is just that an “Events” manager, but it doesn’t fit my needs.
Maybe something like this: http://www.softcomplex.com/products/php_event_calendar/demo.php (checkout the vertical view, is perfect for this purpose) but integrated like BP-Events into BP.
File sharing plugin:
Gives the user the posibility to upload files to his own file repository and sharing files with groups and/or users. Maybe something like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/download-monitor/ but in the BP community front-end, so no need for the user to have a blog to use this.
I would like to do both by myself
but I dont have at this moment the required knowlege of the BP functions to do it
‘(If there is someone with knowlege (and time
) enough to help me integrate in BP front-end these plugins, please let me know
I’m running BP 1.1.2 and WPMU 2.8.4. When creating a new group, after the step where I select public or private, I consistently get the following errors (as do my beta testers):
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/spinistr/public_html/bb-config.php:80) in /home/spinistr/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups.php on line 507
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/spinistr/public_html/bb-config.php:80) in /home/spinistr/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups.php on line 508
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/spinistr/public_html/bb-config.php:80) in /home/spinistr/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 865
If I refresh the page, the errors go away and everything is fine; the group appears as created.
In bp-groups.php, the lines referenced are setcookie commands. In pluggable.php, the line referenced is: header(“Location: $location”);
Help! I’ve searched and see that others have had this problem, but I’ve yet to find the answer. Thanks so much.
Hello all,
So I figured out what was breaking my autocomplete.
First off, I am using wpmu 2.84a and buddypress 1.1.1.
I have two blogs set up on mu using virtual sub-directories instead of subdomains.
The first blog is on the root using the wordpress default theme and acts as an outside blog (blog id=1) and the buddypress theme is on another blog acting as a private area (blog id=2). By doing this, I can have one wp-admin with a public and private area.
However, by changing the blog id in the bp-core file from 1 to 2 on line 20 for buddypress to work properly, it breaks the autocomplete; but everything else works fine.
i believe this is a bug …
