    WPMU 2.7.1

    Buddypress 1.0.1

    FB connect 1.0

    We are using wp-super-cache to speed up our sites performance, which works fine.

    we disabled caching for logged in users

    however, this does not disable caching for logged in facebook users!!

    so when a facebook user logs in, they do not see their username/avatar and only see the same login input fields… the user must click somehwhere or be redirected in order for them to *know* they’re logged in

    it seems the FB Connect plugin does not include the $redirect function which would allow me to:

    a.) disable caching for them after they’ve logged in

    b.) use a plugin to redirect users once they’ve logged in

    I need a workthrough to fix this, so I can turn caching back on

    any advice would be great

    thank you

    Hi all

    I have a few plugins that make use of a jquery based slider script but no matter what I do I can’t seem to get them working?

    I have tried commenting out the loading of jquery.js as I know BuddyPress loads this later on etc but no luck :(

    I am using BuddyPress 1.0.1 by the way with no other plugins enabled on my 2.7.1 MU install that is fully integrated with BBPress and everything else is working brilliantly so any ideas?

    Many thanks in advance

    Carpconnect-

    You have another thread here that is dealing with related issues. You never did respond to my last set of questions in that thread.

    Finally, to answer your question above:

    the plugins i am running are

    BuddyPress

    BPContents

    Support

    Signup TOS

    Additional Privacy

    All in one SEO

    Simple Site maps

    Upgrades

    Invite

    I would not have thought these would have affected user profile layout?

    Yes, plugin conflicts can affect the way data is output to your browser. To debug this issue, you need to distill your environment down to the lowest common denominator. That means disabling all plugins except BuddyPress AND you need to be using the default themes that come with BP.

    Do that, and report back here.

    I’ve moved this thread to the Miscellaneous forum. Also, I’m closing this thread as it is not a support issue but a request for services. If you wish to offer your services to the OP, contact info. can be found above.

    For future reference, requests for services or offers to provide services should be made on the BuddyPress Jobs Board.

    spoke to soon, doesn’t work. can anyone find the eror here?

    path: wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-languages

    files:

    buddypress-nl_NL.mo

    buddypress-nl_NL.po

    buddypress.pot

    or does the old language not work for this version?

    Ok i have update to new buddypress which i see changes the method used to set size.

    Ok i have worked out why they are different, the ‘Me’ and ‘My Tags’ menu text are just text whereas the additional menu text that appears when selecting edit profile are links.

    The menu text and links font are not the same, some people may be happy with this but personally i would prefer all text whether it heading or heading/link to be the same if it is in the same location, ie menu bar.

    It looks like this something i will have try and change by creating a new style, though would have preferred this to be part of BP.

    cheers

    Ok i have done the update and still have the issue in user profile ‘activity’ with profile image alignment?

    In edit profile the fonts are better but not perfect but still have the poor alignment with overlaps?

    Also extra profile fields align to left once then pass the left menu which is not pleasant to look at.

    Am i the only one getting these issues?

    Apart from the changing the Buddypress nav bar image and setting new size my css files are standard with default buddypress themes.

    This is on firefox on linux.

    cheers

    Strange thing… this happened to me as well. I deactivated all the plugins (including those in the mu-plugins folder), tried reactivating and it started with no problems. From that point I could reactivate all my plugins and it worked.

    However, I think I fixed it because I got a similar problem when trying to add media to a post from the media library.

    The issue lies in the require statements, in the case of the media library it was within the bp-themes. If you change the require statements to require_once in the bp-themes folder it starts working.

    Mods, I am working quite heavily with BuddyPress atm, if there’s any way I can contribute to the core code please let me know.

    1. Which version of WPMU are you running? WORDPRESS MU 2.7.1

    2. Did you install WPMU as a directory or subdomain install? DIRECTORY

    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory? ROOT

    4. Did you upgraded from a previous version of WPMU? NO

    5. Was WPMU functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress? YES

    6. Which version of BuddyPress (BP) are you running? BUDDYPRESS 1.0.1

    7. Did you upgraded from a previous version of BP? NO

    8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? NO

    9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes? IN PROGRESS TO CUSTOMIZE THE STANDARD THEME

    Dear Developers, dear Community

    first of all I want to thank you for developing and maintaining such a great system as buddypress. At the moment I am still in the progress of working in, but I will use it very soon to help a friend building up a social community.

    While doing so I encountered a problem with the bphome and bpmember differenciation of the standard theme. As I only want to modify the appereance of the standard theme I’m trying to use the sidewide.css as much as possible. But due to the different coding of the header.php files in bphome and bpmember I think I am left no choice but modifying those.

    The exact problem is:

    sidewide.css

    html {

    background: #333333;

    height:100%;

    }

    body {

    background: #FFFFFF;

    font-size: 12px;

    width: 1000px;

    margin: 0 auto;

    }

    #search-login-bar {

    background-color:#FFFFFF;

    background-image:url(../images/logoforweb.png);

    background-repeat:no-repeat;

    padding-top: 118px;

    height:10px;

    }

    #header {

    float:right;

    position:relative;

    top:-140px;

    left:-30px;

    background-color: transparent;

    }

    #header h1 a {

    background: none;

    width: 1px;

    height: 1px;

    }

    The “logoforweb.png” is a picture with 901*118 px – the idea I want to realize is to put the navigation bar onto the logo. But due to different elements in the bphome and in the bpmembers headerfile, the orientation is not the same (luckily IE, Firefox and Opera are at least going along with each other ;) )

    Do you see any other possibility than just altering the header.phps?

    Kind regards

    Hi,

    We have a new installation of Buddypress and BBpress which is awesome, installed with ease, easy to set-up and configure!

    We’d love to implement a forum on the site just like this one which fits seamlessly into our site design. You can see the site at http://www.a4uindia.in

    I don’t seem to be able to find something out there as a plugin, so would anyone be able to help with this? Would be willing to pay for your time naturally.

    please email me on matthew ‘@’ existem.com if you can help along with a rough idea of cost and timeframes.

    Thanks!Kind Regards,

    Matthew

    Sorry i didnt make it too clear the title of my home page currently reads ” firevine social media marketing network” in the title bar i have decided to change the nature of my site so that title no longer fits, is there any way to change this or would i need to re-install buddypress ?

    i have not yet found a way to change it from my admin menu

    Your menu bar seems fine to me without login.

    For displaying a shortcut to the logged in members profile in this bar

    Create your own function like bp_adminbar_authors_menu for logged in members profile and add an action to bp_adminbar_menus

    e.g.

    function bp_adminbar_logged_members(){
    ....
    ....
    }

    add_action( 'bp_adminbar_menus', 'bp_adminbar_logged_members', 100 );

    http://codex.buddypress.org – see that “Edit Page” button at the bottom? :)

    This is a community of users after all, you don’t need to be a coder to contribute.

    Thanks for your reply. I did install using sub-directories for blogs rather than sub-domains. The root of the blog is the top level of the domain (blog ID 1). so I’ve installed the blog in http://www.example.com. I’ve created a sub-blog from the wp-admin dashboard called “community” (Blog ID 2).

    Then I edited bp-core.php to set BP_Root_blog to Blog ID 2. That’s when I get the redirect error with “members”.

    I got the problem with 1.0 and I installed BP 1.0.1 yesterday so I guess it’s the latest. but I’ll try again.

    Is your wpmu installed using sub-directories? I can’t tell from your message if the ‘community’ directory is just a sub-dir you’ve installed wpmu in or is it a blog domain?

    The redirect loop issue was seen in the first release of 1.0.1. Try downloading and installing 1.0.1 again.

    I got a base install of wordpress mu on http://www.example.com and I’ve installed BuddyPress. I want the BuddyPress part to run on a sub-blog /community. I’ve set up the blog (ID 2) and install the BuddyPress theme on it. But the members and groups page only works from http://www.example.com/members. I want members and groups, etc, to run from http://www.example.com/community/members (or /groups).

    In the /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php I found this option:

    /* Define on which blog ID BuddyPress should run */

    if ( !defined( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’ ) )

    define( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 1 );

    If I change to define( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 2 ); then http://www.example.com/community/groups seems to work, but http://www.example.com/community/members cause a redirect loop error.

    Any idea how I can run BuddyPress on a sub-blog, not as the root blog?

    I’m using BuddyPress 1.0.1 but had the same problem on 1.0. Using WordPress MU 2.7.1 as base.

    Thanks so much for any help that anyone can offer!

    Not really buddypress issue per say, but figured the best experts are here to ask.

    Here is what is happening on all blogs:

    1. I create a post and assign it to ‘in the news’ category

    2. click submit/ then preview, then go back to the edit screen

    3. somehow the post is not only ‘in the news’ category but other random categories as well.

    This happens on every blog on my mu setup without exception.

    If I go back to edit article and then deselect the additional categories, it seems to fix the issue.

    While I can ‘deal’ with this headache, there is no way I can see my users dealing with this.

    I searched the wordpress forums but did not see this problem listed.

    Does anyone have a clue why this would happen, and a possible solution?

    (I tried disabling all plugins and it had no effect, running wpmu 2.7.1 with bp 1.0.1)

    Not exactly sure when this problem started as I have been dealing with it for so long now. At first I thought it was a theme issue, but then today I created new blog with new theme and it continues to happen so I am really stumped.

    The setup is maintained by Nicola for me, so I am pretty certain that everything was setup correctly

    Dear all…

    I just wanted to write a post to say that i have finished launched and handed in http://spotskenya.com

    It has had some really great feedback so far with lots of people loving the buddypress stuff. even some investors are keen to talk.. so that is sweet.

    I want to thank burtadsit andypeadly and nicolagreco as they have really helped me out with particular thanks to burtadsit.

    There have been lots of others that have really helped me so thanks also..

    currently there are a few styling issues and things that are being added up..

    some of the know buddypress bugs are the notifications for groups (spots) not disspearing and each time an ivite is sent it doesnt clear. this may be a custom slug issue??

    there is also an issue with the direct messages.. srangely my messages service on my main admin account has died and i cant view my inbox just says that there are no emails..

    the odd thing is that all others user are ok.. i think this may be linked to the amount of emails i have recieved??

    there is also a bit of buggyness on the creat spots page with the bpdeve groups extra fields plugin.. i think its acting up as i have hacked it and put the gmaps in..

    there is also a few userbilitty issues that need to be sorted.

    we are hoping to make the community spots better and and maps agrigator for this.

    we also really want to allow for facebook connect logins but with a better smaller js that only loads once as it really slows the site down.. twitter connect would be sweet and allow users to link in there twitter status..

    but yeah thats all really for now sorry for the messy post..

    do check it out let me know of any bugs and things that you think are dodgey
