    Aran-

You are correct. Andy has themed the BuddyPress forum theme to look just like the rest of BP.org.

At this time, he does not plan on releasing this theme. He wants to keep the bp.org brand distinctive. Imagine if many of the new BP installs used this theme. It might confuse people when coming to BP.org. BP.org needs to maintain a unique identity. It is, after all, the place where everyone else comes for guidance.

Of course, everyone is free to style their own theme.

I am having a similar problem:

    Request Friend

    /members/username/

Ajax keeps spinning. Firebug is saying 404 was returned but returning the following response:

    Friendship Requested0

    Members Home Widget

    Newest | Active | Popular

Ajax keeps spinning. Firebug is saying 404, but also returning results which is quite odd.

    /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-ajax-handler.php

    Versions:

    MU 2.7.1

    BuddyPress

    FF 3.0.10

    OSX Leopard 10.5.7

It’s quite easy to see with firebug on the homepage:

    What are my next steps?

You’ve provided a little detail about your setup, and more detail about your issue. However, there is more about your setup that could prove useful in providing you with assistance. Please see this thread and respond as appropriate:

If an intentional design decision then it is a poor one!

This has nothing to do with BuddyPress. It has all to do with the design and styling of the theme you are using. Switch to the default BuddyPress themes (bphome and bpmember) and you will see this problem go away.

Talk with the person who designed your theme.

With trying buddypress & modifying still i agree that buddypress.org theme is really awesome and almost things work more easy, as people who might have seen for them the cool color and background mix match with blue topic font is what buddypress and if at all it is released people will be more interested to put with out modification.

Even i am looking for the same, although it might be told 2000 times or what ever no of times… Any way if any one can help me how & what to make changes to be like buddypress.org front page.

Sorry, not sure which thread to post this in now!

So buddypress.org is clearly running a version of the BuddyPress default theme (with blue instead of orange) that has also been ported to bbPress – is that right?

Would it be possible to release that as a bbPress theme?

Or has that perhaps (crossing fingers!) already been done somewhere?

    Thanks for any input…:-)

FWIW, in this thread Bpfan posts a solution for the problem with BBP 0.9.0.4 where the admin is redirected to the main bbpress page on login (instead of the admin page).

It’s hiding under the ‘Developers’ menu section – direct link is https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/. Of course, I would expect 99.9% of WPMU plugins to work too.

    [WPMU 2.7.1, BP 1.0, BBP 1.0 RC1, custom theme]

I have BP and bbPress user tables and cookies integrated. I can log in either side and move to the other with no problem.

What I can’t do is log in on one side and log out on the other. For example, if I log in from WPMU, then I have to log out from WPMU. Is this expected?

I notice that the BuddyPress.org forum (that I’m using to make this post) calls the WPMU logout URL from the bbPress page.

How did Andy do that? Is it just a manually assembled link, or is it generated dynamically?

This must be an easy answer for you all but please pardon my stupidity –
Where is the “Extend” link for Buddypress that lists the plugins that can be used
    with BP to enhance it.

There is typically Home | About | Blog | Forums ….. …. etc but no “Extend”

You must understand that many of us have started to come to BP *directly*
as SocialNetwork site solution and has not been past users of WP.

By such an “Extend” link/list I mean stuffs that will work with BP latest release
without breaking anything and officially endorsed by BP.org

I think such a link/tab in the top horizontal menu of this page will really help.

More specifically I will be very happy if some one provides the links to stable,
    working-with-BP plugins for

    • Recent visitors to my blog (with option to show icons
    • how many times a blog post has been read/hit/clicked
    • plugin that helps blog owner to modify side-bar like BP widgets or drag-drop

I have read that I should follow the “BuddyPress” option under “Site Admin” menu, in order to change the member theme.

That is outdated information. If you are using BuddyPress 1.0 and have the bpmember folder installed in /wp-content/bp-themes/, then what I described is correct.

Log in to WPMU’s backend as site admin, then go to “BuddyPress > General Settings > Select theme to use for BuddyPress generated pages”. After selecting a member theme, make sure you hit the “Save Settings” button.

    @ Jeff Sayre :

Yes, but the thing is, I have read that I should follow the “BuddyPress” option under “Site Admin” menu, in order to change the member theme.

I am still unable to change the user theme.

How can I change the member theme ?

    #46518

There’s a plugin for WordPress to do this already, and there will be a language switcher plugin that is BuddyPress safe soon.

    In reply to: User points

This has been done similarly in various forum software. Wouldn’t be too hard to adapt to fit WordPress/BuddyPress.

    I say do it. :)

    Hi Trent:

Then why does BuddyPress make a Password field on registration? Doesn’t it seem a bit odd it would be like this? And is there some plugin that allows this that you know of?

When I go to the profile edit page I get a warning “That group does not exist.” I have installed buddypress and all of the other functionality seems to be working.

    Any ideas???

I wanted to add the following by editing my message at

    http://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2988

but this is not allowing edit ( even though it shows edit link)

    Request

For the next release of BP please make an easy web interface to change a few terms or the entire language.

Phpfox, a social script, which is though nowhere near as nice as BP is, has an easy

web interface (admin panel) to change all terms/languages.

Please see this picture (which shows something like that)

    http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/7558/changelanguageeasilybyw.gif

The mo po stuff or similar things are taken care automatically in the background.

If there already a plugin that does it for BP kindly post the link for I may have missed it.

    James-

At this time, BuddyPress only works with WordPress Multiuser (WPMU) version 2.7.1. You will have to install it yourself, which is really the only way that it should be done. It is never wise to use a one-button install service to install complex software platforms.

Now, whether your hosting plan will be of sufficient horsepower to successfully run WPMU is a different issue. For this issue you can search the WPMU forums.

    1. Which version of WPMU you are running

    2.7.1

    2. Whether you’ve installed WPMU in a subdirectory or as a subdomian

    Subdirectory

    3. Whether you upgraded from a previous version of WPMU. If so, from which version.

    Nope, new install.

    4. Whether WPMU was functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress

    I suppose

    5. Which version of BuddyPress you are running

    Latest (1.0)

    6. Whether you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated

    Nope

    7. Whether you are using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes

    Standard

    8. If running bbPress, which version

Not using it (tried it, too hard to install). ;)

    9. A list of any errors in your server’s log files

    N/A

    Hi Everyone:

One member reported a problem where despite what they imputed their password to be for login, it generated a new password for them when they checked on the conform link. I am wondering if there is some way to stop this – As it is very strange behavior!

I installed WordPress on a Godaddy hosted site. The install went very smoothly and I was able to install BuddyPress. All very smooth until I tried to activate BuddyPress and got a fatal error.

After searching the forums it appears that I have the single user version of WordPress which is causing the fatal alert. GoDaddy doesn’t appear to offer WPMU. Is there any way to upgrade this install to the multi user version?

    Any help would be appreciated.
