https://wordpress.org/tags/events-manager?forum_id=10
I’ll ask over there …
Thanks for your advice @ChrisClayton

Participant@rizkipratama – Sounds like their is afew issues popping up with the current version of that plugin (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/buddypress-default-theme-not-showing-events/)
Your best bet would be to contact the plugin developer so that he can ensure he looks into it and include a fix in the next version. http://wp-events-plugin.com/

ParticipantSeparate issues. For the double page links, check your custom menu in Appearance > Menus. As for the forum, which one did you create, the group forums or the sitewide forums? If group forums, did you associate it with a Page in dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages?

Member@ Chris, which theme are you using? Without buddypress, all themes work ok, and events work etc etc, as soon as I activate buddypress, the theme doesn’t show Events Manager.
I’ll put it up on EM forums, but I reckon they’ll point back to buddypress. Just a gut feeling

MemberHi Paul —
Thank you very much for the rapid reply. Yes — I would like to be able to have social networking type of on functionality on multiple WordPress sites in an MS environment.I’m trying to create a kind of social networking environment to teach small private classes (in photography) in a single install of BD on a single WP site, I couldn’t find a way to provide students taking a particular class access to a private set of POSTS in a single install of WP, hence the leap into Multisite. Posts provide a much richer way for students and teachers to share rich media than spaces like Forums.
It sounds like I can’t get ‘multiple blogs’ in BP and can’t get ‘multiple’ social networking tools — beyond Forums — in a multi-site install — RIGHT?
I do NOT one to re-locate a single buddypress install, which is what I believed you referenced above in the post about secondary blogs.
Hope this is clear —
Please give me your best advise.
THANKS!
I looked at trying to accomplish my goal in a single site and

ParticipantThe only plugin that I know of, a premium plugin, can do what you need (and much much more) http://wpebooks.com/replicator/ You can register and post in their pre-sales forums to confirm functionality you want.

InactiveCreate a page called forums, or discusssions or whatever you like (if you haven’t already), then go to the BP pages settings and chose the page you created for your forums component. Save and all sshould be good.

MemberSame issue. Can see hidden group activity on profile pages… Aye!
January 21, 2012 at 12:46 am #128344@mercime
ParticipantYou need to double-check bb-config.php as mentioned above
– see if DB info in bb-config.php needs to be corrected.
– see if bb-config.php is corrupt. Complete bb-config.php file has about 70+ lines. If not generated properly, then it has been corrupted and should be deleted. Then go back to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Forums > Install Group Forums.January 20, 2012 at 9:32 pm #128337Al B.

MemberThis a great discussion because I’m in Neononcon’s and Hysteriux’ shoes somewhat. I’m a web publisher who’s preparing to revamp an existing site to WP, and my potential devs are telling me I really need to incorporate BP as a major component. But I’m not clear about certain functionalities and if BP can really do what I need it to do. And I’ve looked at many of the examples from the links nicely given above (thanks!) and elsewhere, but still do not see my answers. So may I ask 3 very specific questions that can hopefully be answered by those here more experienced than me? Yes? Here goes…
1. Can BP Groups have separate “discussions” (like forum threads) INSIDE the Group? Not one single thread but unlimited threads. Just like a Forum. Here’s a hypothetical situation: A Group called “Photo Critiques” where each User would submit photos in a separate thread within this group. And others can them comment and critique that User’s photos. In that thread. And there would be a Sticky thread at top explaining the instructions, etc. Doable?
2. And each separate thread would have full photo uploading capability (or “side-loading” if photo is already housed somewhere). Doable?
3. And there could be a dedicated Photo Gallery/Album for THAT Group as a whole. Doable?
Is BuddyPress suitable this scenario?
Many thanks for your valued input!

MemberUnfortunately I don’t have access to php MyAdmin. I had the site owner check the database and he says he doesn’t see the above tables or bb-config.php in in the WP root.
In BuddyPress the forums page is associated with forums.
What can I do to troubleshoot the installation?
Thanks,
Garland

ParticipantSo far I’m still in need of assistance.
Anyone can tell me where do I look in Buddypress or BBpress for the code that pulls updates from forums to activity stream?
My forums image thumbnails doesn’t get the right css class at activity stream.

ParticipantMaybe I do it all wrong, but I’ve found that on WP when I have an issue with a plugin, I end up going to the plugin page (e.g. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress/) hoping to find answers in FAQ, notes etc. If I don’t find answers there, I click on “Forum Posts” link on the page, which takes me to posts tagged for that plugin e.g. https://wordpress.org/tags/buddypress and then if I click Add New, I find that the plugin tag is already added (and plugin name automatically appears in topic title too..except in case of bbpress and buddypress).
Because WordPress.org forums works like this for plugins, and because Buddypress is a WP plugin, I think that a more vibrant discussion at https://wordpress.org/tags/buddypress might even encourage more WordPress users to use BuddyPress. (more posts, frequent posts, fresh posts are usually, correctly or incorrectly, perceived as good support).
Add to this the fact that the forums on buddypress.org plain suck! They suck!
Don’t get me wrong here. People are fantastic and I’ve experienced volunteers jump to help out…and that’s brilliant.
But from the perspective of usability, Buddypress.org forums suck, probably because Buddypress forums suck…I don’t know for sure…I’ve been exploring and reading for weeks and haven’t yet installed Buddypress myself….but I did read in Buddypress website somewhere that Buddypress includes a watered-down forum…
Anyway, the point of this long winded post is that it surely would be nice to have a single place for support, that WP.org forums are a better candidate for such a single place, and that the team should consider merging the support…

Participant– check the bb-config.php at root of WP install (where you’ll find wp-config.php) and double-check that the DB information in bb-config.php is the correct one – the same as in your wp-config.php
– check if 7 bbpress tables have been generated in your database
yourPrefix_bb_forums
yourPrefix_bb_meta
yourPrefix_bb_posts
yourPrefix_bb_terms
yourPrefix_bb_term_relationships
