    Hello,

Due to a spam problem (having over 4000 groups that I cannot delete from wp-admin or it crashes the server each time), I would like to modify directly the group list so I can erase manually (with Filezila) all the groups.
Could someone tell me where I could find the php file with all the group list/datas, please?

I am on the right track now. I found out that Peepso shortcode was still in pages named the same as BP pages. So I deleted them all and made new ones for BP and they all are non peepso now.

For the Groups issue, it is still happening though, even after deleting permanently the Groups page (in case attache din anyway with Peepso).

All users are still marked as spammers. If i have to re enter them manually I will.

I will have to try the register process now as it did not work before.

Are you able to help with these remaining issues?

I have Buddypress latest version i just installed, and Youser. There are several issues, like all members from my previous plugin (Peepso) are all marked as Spammers.

We cannot create groups without an error.

Profile pages are showing 404 errors.

Any help with setup is greatly appreciated

Not sure if this is a wordpress or buddypress issue so posting in both places. I run a writers community with buddypress and have set up forums where members can post pieces of work. We are experiencing some difficulty with the comment blacklist which prevents some words from being used even if within a word e.g. double breasted…. and one piece of work I can’t for the life of me find the word that is blocking the post… whilst I want to be able to stop spam comments, surely forum posts from members who have to be signed in to post is another thing? Any suggestions? I am useless with code :). Even if we had something which could identify the rogue word we could do something about it…

    Thank you

    Hi all
    Has anyone had this before:
    – Buddypress user posts a post in a group
    – I comment on it (as site/group admin – not sure what happens if another user does)
    – Refresh page, post disappeared!
    – Looking in Stream logs, it says I marked the post as spam
    – Looking in Activity, where the post should be, it says “The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”
    – Checking the email box, I have the following email:

“Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a
plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you
    with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, BuddyPress.”

This has happened twice on my site now. Can anyone please help?

    Thanks!

Are you using Akismet or some other spam blocking plugin? Also Topics are forums related, BuddyPress does not include forums, for those you’d be better off asking on that plugins forums.

    Hi,
This is my first post, it’s exploratory. I’m hoping to find help with regard to a BuddyPress/Rehub install we are contemplating.
We want to setup free and paid members. Paid member’s products visible to all members.
So far straightforward, I hope, but where things change is that we want free member’s product to be visible only to their friends – across all product display elements, including profile page, search, directory, etc.
I have read a little about the friends_check_friendship function and believe this can be done. Initially, I’m hoping to learn from anyone familiar with a BuddyPress/Rehub site if they imagine that creating this change to free member product visibility would be an extensive, reasonable or easy effort?
Thank you in advance for any advice.

This usually happens if a word used in your post has triggered our anti-spam system.

    Hello…

How to adjust or better remove the “send to” box in Compose area in private messages, the length is very long and it doesn’t populate the users inside the box, instead the user names are populated above the send to box and it’s very confusing.

If I can be pointed to the file where the code is located, I can make edits myself in the bp-custom.php file.

Also, my website doesn’t allow users to send each other private messages unless they are Friends to cut down on spam.

Thanks a bunch for your help in this matter.

Is it possible to moderate publications made on the activities page? I saw that when we put in spam, we stopped viewing the page, would you have any way to make all the publications fall into spam for the administrator to allow their publication?

    Hi there,

I think there’s two functions you would be interested in. One to redirect the logged in user too their activity page when they view the homepage and one to redirect them to their activity page following login.

Unfortunately I can’t seem to post the code, it must be some anti spam software playing up.

    Hi,

Could you help me ore give advice? I would like to find a plugin ore a way to track malicious code. A couple a weeks ago i noticed many spambots where getting true my security messures. I become suspicous when i noticed spam was created as a new group by the admin (me). I clicked on the icon of group admin that created the new spam group and it came back to my profile. So i started to do some investigation. Looking in the all in one security I noticed under failed login another user with my ip adress. This user had a bizare name (93e60…) During last 2 weeks he/she changed alot his/here username. Im 100 % shure that i’m the only person at home that use the site. It’s remarkable The user with my ip adres has no email adres in the all in one security. Anoter plugin i installed was stop spammers. It confirmed that an author with my ip adress by the name (93e60…) had a good cache in /wp-login.php, again there was no email adres.

Did someone placed malicious code on my site? How can it be that they use my ip adress? I did a virus scan on my pc. Nothing was found. I contacted my host. They did a malware scan on the site, nothing was found. But the user with my ip is still there. I don’t know what to do, could you give me advise? Is there a plugin that could help, one that can track bad codes?

    Thank you very much

So if it’s just a catalogue content creation type thing you should be able to do it with the right combination of plugins and a bit of customisation. You’d need to find a suitable solution for the product catalogue but it’s just a custom post type with specific templating. There’s a few ways of doing it, if you don’t need the eccommerce there’s no need for the bloat of it.

Then you just need to sort out the user messaging, I’ve a plugin, BP Profile Shortcodes Extra, it’s got a private message shortcode, any vendor could use that to let their customers know how to contact them.

I’ve another plugin, BP Messaging Control, it allows you to set rules on who can message who. Not sure if you want to control that but it could help stop sellers spamming users.

There’s also stuff you can do to customise the messaging interface itself – you can insert content pretty easily and there’s a range of options for customising the use profile area, which is where BP Messaging lives.

Yes, I do use the Plugin “CB Mail Sender”.
Mostly the reason why they return is:
Nemesis ESMTP Service not available Service unavailable Reject due to policy violations.
Maybe thats because I am sending too many mails with this address and they think its spam….

Yes the users need a valid email address in order to activate their account. On think to check is that the emails are not being rejected as spam by their email provider ( gmail does this ). I found a way to avoid this was to change the default wordpress@host.com to something more specific to the site using CB Change Mail Sender plugin.

I am having problems with spammers/scammers

When new users register they are issued New Temp Role and i have managed to stop all these new users commenting and messaging users until they become a member.

Now they have started spamming on the users activity feed is there a way of stopping the new user roles from commenting on other members activity until they become a member ?

or is there a way of stopping them posting emails in there comments?

or any other way that any one knows to stop this happening as it is very time consuming work going through the database to delete all the activity comments individually after I have noticed them and turned the account into spam account.

    Thanks in advance.

The standard way of doing this is to let the users activate themselves and to use BP Registration Options to approve their application to join. BP Registration Optons does work, I use it on every site I build. It’s generally not a good idea just to activate users without them confirming their email address, it can lead to spam users getting easy access to your site, though you can significantly liit these types of requests if you use the Registration Honeypot plugin.

It sounds like your site has not recovered entirely from the spam attack, though if it affected the sites functions it was more than spam. Which pages are giving 500 errors? Have you enabled the error log and what is it telling you?

    Hi,
I have installed BuddyPress for last 5 months and it is functioning excellently since the spam registration took place and interrupting the functioning of some of the tabs in WordPress, like widget, activity, and groups. One of the engineers, delete the spam registration, thus makes the widget section working again, but the activity and group tab on the WordPress, showing a 500 internal server error. Kindly find some solution so I can help those engineers.

    Best wishes
