how are “the settings…” set??
I use the Poedit to do the translation. I always get this error message.
11:23:10:
wampwww8phetwp-contentmu-pluginsbp-languagesbuddypress-vi.po:844: a format specification for argument 1 doesn’t exist in ‘msgstr’
11:23:10:
wampwww8phetwp-contentmu-pluginsbp-languagesbuddypress-vi.po:2566: a format specification for argument 1 doesn’t exist in ‘msgstr’
11:23:10: msgfmt: found 2 fatal errors.
I believe that related to Settings…. But I don’t know how to set it.
Can someone help please.
thanks
Anybody have any suggestions on this? I’m just looking to change the term ‘Friends’ to ‘Contacts’ throughout the install. I’m not really in need of a ‘translation’ per se – just an update to the existing default terms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
‘Trunk’ means the latest development build in the SVN repository, which you can access and ‘check out’ here:
https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk
More information about using SVN here: https://codex.wordpress.org/SVN
I have no idea what that means?
Make sure you are using the trunk and not RC1.
You can send me those 2 files to me and I’ll check it on my server: lucifix[that@thing]slo-foto[thatDOTthing]net
thanks, but did not work… Same problem continues
I had similar problems with translating, then I figure it out what I did wrong. You should uploaded these files to server:
1. /wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-languages/
– file: buddypress-***.mo
2. /wp-includes/languages/
– file: ***.mo
*** is the name of your language (etc. for Slovenian language: sl_SI)
I hope this helps
Hi!
I have a problem with my translations files:
I want to translate my wordpress-mu admin and public ( buddypress-home & members ) theme. I have upload both of those .mo files into right directories and configured core.php and config.php files.
But here’s the problem: When i select “blog language: Finnish” admin translates to finnish but buddypress theme stays in english. If i select “English” Admin goes to english and buddypress theme goes to Finnish? “Default Language” makes no different what so ever…
WHAT AM I MISSING? anybody?
Is this even possible?
Not sure why, but your register page is showing as:
http://nishinomiya.jp/ebi/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://nishinomiya.jp/ebi/ebi/register
http://nishinomiya.jp/ebi/ebi/register when it should be:
http://nishinomiya.jp/ebi/register
It does work if you hit:
http://nishinomiya.jp/ebi/wp-signup.php
Not sure if it was the translation that screwed up your URL. Never saw that before. Anyone else have anything to add?
Trent
First of all, BuddyPress is so promising. Keep up the good work!
Currently, I’m involved in implementing BP for a local NGO, and I’m happy to share the translation files.
I’ve done translating the “Bahasa Indonesia” for the RC-1 version and posted on the codex page:
https://codex.buddypress.org/translations/indonesia-indonesian-id_id/
Feel free to comment and correct any error.
You should know that there is some people (like me), that is having this problems with the widgets using spanish translation. Widgets welcome, groups, site wide activity, blog recent post, and 2 o 3 more … they dissapear when we put the spanish translation as default.
Is a very big problem! we are sad!
ANDY HELP US!! = )

Sorry for my bad english
Hi all – My apologies as I know there are other threads that contain similar questions as this but I’m having trouble ‘translating’ them if you will as it would appear that English – for good reason – is certainly not the first language of the posters in the threads related to translation/localization so I was hoping that I could get a concise/clear answer if I created a separate thread.
Specifically, all I want to do is the mass update the term ‘friend'(and variations thereof) throughout the entire install to ‘contact’. I’ve found the .po file and I’ve edited it directly, saved it with a corresponding .mo file using poedit, dropped it back into place all to no avail. Can someone provide a step by step on how to accomplish what would seem to be a simple/common need? Any guidance would be much appreciated.
I just wanted to post a quick heads up that I’ve finished the swedish translation as I know there are some of you that’s looking for it.
The codex page is here: http://codex.buddypress.org/translations/swedish-svenska-sv_se/
I’m sure there are something I’ve missed and I’m about to go through it and streamline it during the week (make sure I use the same wording everywhere etc).
Sorry, I’m done.
I just forgot to upload it. Will do asap.
Ok, uploaded to my server. Codex page here: https://codex.buddypress.org/translations/swedish-svenska-sv_se/
Let me know if there are any errors. I’m sure I missed something.
I see you added the ticket, so I “briefly” commented on it so that your translation went through fine.
Trent
Martin, how’s the Swedish Translation coming along for you? I’m personally at 29% (Just started today)..
MartiNr5,
I changed all date and time output to WordPres Settings Date & Time Format, so that should take care of the regional date display.
I have wrapped all text with the translation functions, but I haven’t created a pot file yet. I am new to the localization thing, so bear with me on that… I’ll have to do some reading on it, or maybe you can help guide me through it?
The problem still exists – on two different installs I have… STRANGE! Could it be one of the localizations-problems mentioned in other forum-discussions? I am using the german translation…
Thanks again for everyone who gives a thought into it!
MIchael
Hello! I’ve just downloaded the 1132 trunk but the problem still remain for the Brazilian Portuguese translation. The behaviour is exactly as described in thread https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1250.
Does anyone know how to solve it?
Thanks!
hi Arturo: activity feed ok, registration and activation email ok, widget ok.
i’m using an old italian translation, maybe i will update the localization soon.
Use the latest trunk, this is fixed.
My translations work in the front end of the site (groups/members pages etc) including the admin-bar.
However, in the wp-admin part of the site, the translations aren’t being picked up on the BP admin-bar.
Thanks for fixing the widget bug metioned in this closed topic (http://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1250) with the newest trunk, andy!
Now, the widgets show.
To things:
1. When I install the language-file (in my case german) I have to re-activate all the widgets, that were activated with the standard-english-version. Should that be like that?
2. In the standard-english-version the activity-feed RSS-Links are working. But still not with a translation-file running.
3. Are there more “strange” things people are experiencing with other languages activated (i jsut found out, when I switched back to english…)
I believe, that with a localization active (in my case german) the RSS-Feed per example for sitewide-activity doesn’t work (now, since I deinstalled the translation, it works surprisingly
)
