    I don’t think you mean “flash slideshows”, what you’re really looking for is “jquery slideshows”. Just install a regular jquery WordPress plugin and activate it on your main website. Here’s one that I’ve used for a client’s site. I’ve disabled the links for the pictures, but you can set it to make each photo a link.

    Read this:
    https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/faq-how-to-code-snippets-and-solutions/?topic_page=2&num=15#post-44366

    This is more of a workaround though.

    Also, just wondering… what version of BP are you running? Did you try BP 1.2.4.1? If not, try upgrading to see if this issue is fixed in the new version.

    Ah, you’re doing it from the BP frontend. No, there is no standard image uploader for BP, or even for WP as far as I know. (Sadly.)

    Here are some examples of plugins that allow file uploads. Each takes a different tack. Maybe you can decide what you want to do based on them.

    I wrote a plugin called Invite Anyone that doesn’t do quite what you are looking for (it doesn’t restrict registration) but it could be modified to do what you’re asking: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invite-anyone/

    I saw the plugin “Secure Invites for WordPress MU” by @MrWiblog and was wondering if there something similar that is available or will work for the regular wordpress (non MU). I didn’t see a forum tab in that plugin page to ask so here I am.

    I have the same issue as you, did you find a fix or did you manually correct the links?

    Depends how you’re doing it. If you’re using custom post types in WP 3.0, uploads should be enabled by default with the editor: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type

    Got this when I activated the Group Documents Plug in –
    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /web/sites/wordpressmu4/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/include/classes.php on line 4

    Being a newbie – I see that is something on line 4 of classes.php.
    Though what do I need to change.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    I’m creating a new plugin, and I want to use image upload. In the admin panel, I can add shops and products to my database. Now, I want to upload an image (or more) for my shops. Is is possible to use the default WordPress / BuddyPress Image Upload?

    Hi- like the Posts on Profile plugin, but for wordpress 3.0 it is not picking up posts classified using either a custom post type or filed in a particular taxonomy. I think this section of code in the plugin is the one that needs altering:
    `function bp_postsonprofile_setup_nav() {
    global $bp, $wpdb;
    $user_id = bp_displayed_user_id() ? bp_displayed_user_id() : bp_loggedin_user_id();
    $where = $wpdb->prepare(‘WHERE post_author = %d AND post_type = %s AND post_status=%s’, $user_id, ‘post’, ‘publish’);
    $post_count = $wpdb->get_var( “SELECT COUNT(*) FROM $wpdb->posts $where” );
    $post_count = $post_count ? $post_count : 0;
    $postsonprofile_link = $bp->loggedin_user->domain . $bp->postsonprofile->slug . ‘/’;
    `
    What I’d like to do is be able to use this plugin to call a member’s custom posts. For example – let’s say I created a new post type called ‘movies’. This post type contains taxonomies such as ‘genres’, ‘actors’ etc. These taxonomies contain terms such as ‘horror’. I want to have a tab on the BP Profile page which say ‘Movies’ (not ‘posts’) and it shows an archive of all posts submitted by this user using the movies post type. I think this should be easy for an experienced BP programmer :) Something in the above code which uses post_type=’movies’. Something like this perhaps:
    `
    <?php global $wp_query;
    query_posts( array(
    ‘post_type’ => ‘movies’ ,
    “genre” => “horror”, “comedy” etc
    ‘showposts’ => 10 )
    );
    ?>

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    You might also want to try this plugin, https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-profile-filters-for-buddypress/, read the third option

    “Administrators can specify certain profile fields that link to social networking profiles. If I enter my Twitter handle ‘boonebgorges’ into a field labeled ‘Twitter’, for example, this plugin will bypass the default link to a BuddyPress search on ‘boonebgorges’ and instead link to http://twitter.com/boonebgorges. See custom-profile-filters-for-buddypress-bp-functions.php to configure this setting.”

    You might be able to hack it in a way that works for your site.

    Hey Guys,

    Buddypress is awesome, but it feels like a patched solution to a certain extent once you run a community on it. it needs to work as a single componenet to manage a community. Things I believe are missing yet essential for every community solution:

    – User management (admin interface to manage users with their extended buddypress profiles, with ability to deactivate, delete users, and an export function to export a datasheet of all users registered with their full profiles). I have all these users, but I cannot really see their profiles at a glance, and cannot even deactivate unwanted ones.

    – Avatar moderation ( in addition to comment moderation, avatars should be moderated too whenever users upload them)

    – Login redirection (for the lame users, it is wierd that they are redirected to wordpress login page when they enter a wrong password or request forgotten password, they think they are being redirected to another website and get confused, it can simply be using the theme css but keep them users on front end of the site).

    I hope this all makes sense, it is based on working experience. I really like Buddypress and would like to see it getting better and better.

    Happy to hear your feedback.

    Cheers.

I refreshed the page and i even tryed downloading both ways from wordpress, and to installing the zip file and nothing seems to work. I also deactivated the plugins and went to default theme to see if that worked but didnt.. Is there anything else i can do. Please Help.

    Thank You

    @jillsays – The process should be identical.

    First, you need a deep integrated bbPress install. There are a bunch of tutorials about this; try this one:
    http://blog.ashfame.com/2010/02/deep-integration-bbpress-wordpress/

    Then add the recreate_bb_admin_bar() function from here to your bbPress theme’s functions.php file:

    Is it possible to add the Buddypress navigation bar to my linked installation of BBPress? I’m finding directions from @r-a-y on how to do it with a WordPress MU installation, but what about standard wordpress installs?

    I’m using WP2.9.2 and BP1.2.4

    There has been many comment spam here and it fills the activity stream.

    How are you handling that? Why is there no feature similar to wordpress comment that requires approval? I remember seeing something for spam report but prefer approval before something is posted. Can the wordpress comment approval be extended into buddypress or is there a plugin that I’m not aware of?

    Hello guys…

    Can someone help me? I had updated my buddypress to 1.2.4.1 and all of a sudden my forum posts disappear, although the forum, the number of posts, and everything else is there, but when I click on a topic, all I get is a white board. Is this some sort of a bug.

    Hallo Hans, I have just gone through a lengthy process to find the right solution for paid membership for a buddypress site on a WordPress single installation.

    If you are interested to find out more how I solved it – let me know. I am in Germany so I am also dealing with Language challenges and also foreign payment merchant solutions. Contact me directly if you want – gewinncoach. de

    Thanks Andy, I’ll try to use that syntax in the plugin.

    @chembro303 and @amigolargo: The Demo Data menu item is under “Tools” in standard WordPress. Let me know if you still have problems (I keep a closer eye on the WP forums, but I’ll try to remember to check here as well).

    Hi guys,

    the plugins you mentioned gasparking are not the solution. RUO 2 protects the complete site. S2 member protects certain pages (a great plugin) works ONLY with PayPal. Also the S2 plugin will manage your created pages and posts not standard integrated buddypress or wordpress functional pages.

    I am also searching for a solution to only make the pages Hans mentioned available to registered / logged in users. It seems crazy that these pages are public pages and that there is no easy option within Buddypress to make them only visible to members.

    Thanks for any advice / support upfront!

    Basic info about my site:

    WP version 2.9.2
    BP Version 1.2.4.1
    installed in Subdirectory
    Using standard BuddyPress theme

    #1 – How do I change the linking and URL structure?

    I have my site installed in a directory /WPplatform/ and have wordpress setup so it is my main website (meaning go to example.com and it is the blog). I did this by moving the .htaccess file and the index.php file to the root directory. This made is that at no time did it ever so the directory structure in the URL, so all the URLs left out the /WPplatform/ part, example, if you went to a category it was example.com/category/ (which still words).

    After installing BP many links (not all but many of the main ones BP created) link using the directory structure like /WPplatform/members/, even the main link to my home page is /WPplatform (which is a 404 page).

    How do I set it up that the BP plugin does not show or link to any part of my site with the /WPplatform/ in the URL?

    #2 – How do I only show base information in profile, but not additional fields I added?

    I want to setup the profile page in a way that when an NON logged in person veiws a members profile page they only see the base information and not the additional fields I created. I created these fields in a different field group.So…

    Field group A – shows to non-logged visitors
    Field Group B – closed to members only

    Is this possible? Anyone know were to even start trying to do this?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kalman
